Chapter 6 First kiss

Ethan's point of view...

Ava and I exchanged a glance, silently acknowledging the gravity of the situation. Feeling astonished, I felt the surface of the spaceship.

It wasn't a dream but a reality...!

It was an amazing feeling that I could never overlook in my whole life. At that moment I felt that I was born for this.

Taking a deep breath, I eased myself into the pilot's seat, my hands finding their place on the controls. I reminded myself of the countless hours I had spent practicing, yet I was so nervous. The simulations I had conquered, and the unwavering belief my system had placed in me. Confidence surged within me, helping to quell the nerves that threatened to overpower me.

Besides me, Ava had already in her role as the strategist, analyzed the mission objectives and studied the information we had received. Her mind raced with potential scenarios, calculating the best course of action and contingency plans. As I looked at her puzzled, she smiled excitedly.

"I can't believe we're really doing this, Ethan," Ava said, her voice filled with determination I can feel her anxiousness. Her hands were shivering.

I glanced at her and smiled, sharing her excitement. "We've trained for this moment, Ava. We're ready." She nodded agreeing and we took a deep breath before starting.

As the engines roared to life, the spaceship began its ascent. The intense acceleration pressed me and Ava into our seats, our bodies adjusting to the forces at play. The nervousness that had gripped us earlier slowly transformed into a focused determination. We were prepared for this moment, ready to face the challenges that awaited us. I had been doing this thing for the last two weeks, yet reality felt different. But it was a great experience, I wished my friends from my school were here to witness this, they would have died of jealousy seeing me doing this.

Guiding the spaceship through the vastness of space, Ava and I communicated seamlessly, our bond as teammates and friends strengthening our resolve. As we were on our provided mission, suddenly I found that something was wrong with the radar. Many asteroids were on our path, ready to hit us. Just one stroke and we will end up burning along with the spaceship.

"Stay focused, Ethan. We're almost there," Ava said, her voice calm but filled with urgency.

"I've got it, Ava," I replied, my voice steady, I successfully managed to dodge all those asteroids coming our way. "We're safe now."

Finally, we arrived on a blue planet, our destination,

"Are you sure this is the right place?" Though we were already navigated, a strange feeling churned into my gutt.

That planet is shrouded in mystery, its atmosphere rich with gases and unknown chemicals. Ava's strategic skills now came into play as she analyzed the data, formulating a plan to collect samples and extract valuable information. The success of our mission hinged on her ability to make quick decisions and adapt to unforeseen circumstances.

"Alright, Ava, what's our first move?" I asked, glancing at her for guidance. She looked at the data screen intently before responding, "We need to gather samples from the surface and establish a secure perimeter. Let's get suited up and be prepared for anything."

With her guidance, I maneuvered the spacecraft, deftly navigating through the planet's atmosphere. The descent was a delicate dance, the ship responding to my expert commands. The ground beneath us approached rapidly, and with a final adjustment, we landed smoothly, our excitement palpable.

Thanks to the system, we were able to breathe without Oxygen and were able to walk on the surface without gravity. It was already something beyond the imagination. Stepping out onto the foreign planet, Ava and I couldn't help but feel a sense of awe and wonder.

We were pioneers, explorers in a world untouched by human presence, the surface that was glowing in blue light just now was actually greenish-blue because of the chemicals present here. Our training had prepared us for all these moments, but the reality surpassed our expectations

"Can you believe it, Ethan? We're standing on an alien planet," Ava said, her voice filled with amazement.

"It's incredible, isn't it? Ava," I replied, a smile spreading across my face. "Let's make history." I winked at her, though I don't know if she saw it or not as the suit over my face had been covered with a thin glass obstructing us to look at each other.

I think she smiled.

Working together, we collected samples, and the indicator we were provided with meticulously recorded data, which helped us conduct experiments. Ava's strategic thinking proved invaluable as we encountered unexpected challenges, adjusting our approach on the fly. With every step we took the indicator showed different results which actually confused us.

"This is more challenging than I expected," Ava said, her brow furrowing in concentration. "We need to think of a plan." I nodded, acknowledging her concern.

"I know it's hard, Ava. Let's recalibrate and find a new approach." I said and tried moving further. There were burrows filled with something blue in it. These gases were hard to conclude as they were constantly moving around.

Our purpose in approaching this planet was to find out if there are any poisonous gasses in here and to collect samples of the mud and gases present here. I strolled forward to collect the gas sample whereas Ava collected different samples of the dust on the surface. I don't know if I can call it mud because the mud that I have seen looks brown and dirty, but this dust here is bright blue in color as if powered sapphire.

As our mission neared its end, Ava and I shared a moment of reflection. The nervousness that had accompanied us at the start of our journey had transformed into a deep sense of accomplishment. We had proven our mettle as Zodiac Warriors, overcoming challenges and embracing the unknown.

"We did it, Ethan," Ava said, her voice filled with pride. "We've made it done."

"We couldn't have done it without you, Ava," I replied, a genuine smile on my face. "Your instant thinking was incredible, it helped both of us." She felt good as I praised her, but as usual, girls are hard to impress nowadays.

"It's teamwork, Ethan, don't forget that," she said strolling away. I extended my hand to scratch my head but it ended up on the ceramic coating of my suit.

Returning to the spaceship, we removed those suits and our hearts swelled with a mixture of pride and humility. We were no longer novices but experienced warriors, entrusted with the responsibility of protecting humanity. The success of our mission would reverberate throughout the Zodiac team, inspiring confidence and fueling determination.

I am sure we will be praised by the system.

As we prepared for the journey back to the base of the starship, Ava and I glanced at each other, a silent acknowledgment of the bond we had forged. We were no longer just teammates, I can sense a connection that had blossomed between us. A connection is born from shared experiences and the mutual admiration of one another's strengths.

"Thank you, Ethan," Ava said, her voice filled with gratitude. "I couldn't have asked for a better partner on this mission."

Oh...! She was impressed...!

"The feeling is mutual, Ava," I replied, my voice sincere. "We make a great team, isn't it?." I retorted and she hung her head shyly.

With renewed resolve, we boarded the spaceship, ready to face the challenges that awaited us upon our return. The mission had tested us in ways we could never have imagined, but it had also fortified our skills and solidified our commitment to the cause.

As the spacecraft lifted off from the planet's surface, I set the autopilot mode to it. As I was now free to explore, Ava and I gazed out at the vast expanse of space before us. We were but two stars in a constellation of warriors, bound together by a shared purpose and a destiny yet to unfold. Our journey was far from over, and we were eager to face whatever lay ahead, armed with our skills, unwavering confidence, and the unbreakable bond between us.

"Was that the same space we looked at from the earth, Isn't it beautiful, Ava?," I said, my voice filled with a sense of appreciation.

"Let's return home and share our success with the team," she said nodding, a glimmer of excitement in her eyes. "We've come so far, Ethan. I'm proud to call you my partner."

The spacecraft continued its voyage, carrying us back toward our starship. The weight of our accomplishments and the exhilaration of our successful mission filled the air.

"Hey look at that," she excitedly pointed towards a star shining so brightly, completely forgetting that she was just an inch away from me in excitement. Despite the coolness in the cabin of the spacecraft, I was burning hot. Heat curled up on my face. She turned towards me as she realized what she just did.

We were caught up in the moment and the surge of emotions, and found ourselves drawn closer together.

What should I do, now?

Confusion mazed over my mind and there was a fight between my two selves. The good boy in me was asking to get away and calm down myself but the crooked one in me was shouting to take the chance.

After a strong fight, I listened to both of my sides but ended up taking the chance and pressed my lips onto her soft ones, her eyes widened in surprise but I felt a current passing through my body.

As our lips met in a tender kiss, time seemed to stand still. It was a silent affirmation of the unspoken connection that had grown between us during this journey.

Is this how we feel when we kiss a girl?

Oh my God..! I just loved it, I wish we could be here like this for our whole life.

When we finally pulled away, our eyes locked, reflecting a mixture of surprise, wonder, and a new depth of affection.

But soon realization hit me about what the hell I did do just now. What will be her reaction?

She won't take me as a player, will she?

After a brief shocked period and an awkward silence, I got my senses back.

Should I break this awkward silence?

She turned red, making me surprised, is that her anger or she was blushing...!

I couldn't grasp this situation, guys. No idea at all.

"I didn't expect this to happen," I confessed, my voice barely above a whisper, my heart beating like a wild drum beat.

I know it was awkward for both of us, but still I am ready to take whatever she does, that may be slapping me though.
