Chapter 9 Soul slipped into mouth...

Ethan's point of view...

I was startled for a moment then looked around if anyone else noticed any changes but all my team including Captain Ven were busy with their observation.

I looked at that Alien Monster again to confirm. I was sure it moved its tummy.

When I was staring at it again, Captain Ven strolled near my side and whispered.

"Because of the chemicals inside, sometimes it appears to be moving, Ethan" I got my answer but still I couldn't believe my eyes for a while.

I nodded and walked to the next one in the consecutive container in that row. To distract me it has a very unique appearance, the Blacosdon. That looked very much like a black reptile but with various hands and legs, tall like a two-storied building. It was stilled, looking up, we couldn't even see its eyes unlike that first one, staring into the eyes and giving goosebumps to all that looked at it.

I sighed, still thinking about it. Such huge creatures are hard to forget.

Next to me, Ava was busy studying the body of an Elebadonos with a mix of curiosity and caution.

The delicate features of this alien were preserved with meticulous care, it had a structure of a plant and could be considered as a gain Hydrilla with hands and four legs to move, its luminescent skin retaining a hint of its former brilliance.

I shifted my focus on it just to avoid the anxiety I was in.

"Look, who can say these are the monsters that wiped our home...!" Ava hissed, and everyone around moved toward us.

"Soon we will wipe out their existence...!" I said, my words as an assurance to all of them, my mind resolved, and they all glanced at me with a mixture of expressions, nodding in agreement.

We marveled at the subtle nuances of their biology, contemplating the complexities of their existence.

The Lumisian container beckoned me closer, and I could almost feel the gentle energy radiating from within.

It was a very unique and enthusiastic experience for us all, watching those dangerous aliens with our naked eyes. I wonder who was the one that had fought against them and captured these monsters here.

As I was thinking about it, Captain Ven strolled near me again.

"These were all captured by my master, the creator of this organization," he said, pride evident in his words.

I felt curious about that matter, I do want to meet him.

"Who is your master, can we meet him? Is he a human?" I asked immediately.

Captain Ven moved aside,

"Well that depends on your capability" I gaped at him, all my teammates looking at me bluntly.

What does he mean by, 'it depends on my capabilities'?

I stood confused for a while as I couldn't ask further, because he strode away giving an obvious answer that no more questions allowed.

I heaved a sigh moving to the next container.

The Herdalonos, a bioluminescent creature whose grace and beauty were frozen in time, is a testament to its extraordinary ability to manipulate light.

I pondered the delicate balance between their need for illumination and the limitations of darkness.

"Maybe these creatures live on some dark planets," I mumbled as I observed its features.

"Yes, that's true" Captain Ven admitted.

Though the room was dimly lit, those boxes were illuminating and because of the chemical present in them, gave that place a mysterious look.

Together, we delved into each container, examining the bodies of the different alien species with a mix of fascination and regard.

We all knew that this hands-on experience would help us prepare for the fight that awaited us in the unknown reaches of the universe.

I do imagine fighting these creatures, picturing myself using my skills to defeat them.

As all the containers were observed, Captain Ven pressed a lever and some screens emerged from the bottom of those containers.

"Look at those screens, you can see the three-dimensional images of these creatures on them"

We excitedly moved along those containers gaping at those screens, immersing ourselves in practical learning, a sense of awe replaced our initial nervousness.

We realized that these preserved bodies were not merely scientific specimens, they were reminders of the diverse and wondrous tapestry of life that awaited us beyond the boundaries of our home planet.

"Are they all just the dead bodies?" I curiously asked, still thinking about that experience from before.

Captain Ven opted to keep quiet neglecting my question, he stood nearby, observing our interactions with quiet pride. It heaved the doubt lit inside me.

I noticed that he was observing me again and again.

He had been a mentor to us, I dropped the doubt right away when he refused to answer my question. That might be an unnecessary question though.

He strolled around us explaining everything that we have to learn. His presence instilled a sense of confidence and reassurance, reminding us that we were not alone on this journey.

We were part of a team, united in our purpose and determination, I decided to be focused.

With each passing moment, our nervousness transformed into an appreciation for the opportunity before us. I was glad that we were privileged to explore the mysteries of this universe and protect its fragile balance.

The practical learning experience helped us all in our commitment and the responsibility we carried as Zodiac Warriors.

As we concluded our examination of the preserved bodies, we left the room with a newly formed sense of purpose.

The knowledge we had gained and the connections we had formed with these alien species would guide our actions and decisions in the field.

Stepping inside the elevator, my eyes fell on the access code panel. And thanks to my photographic memory, I grasped the access code immediately.

I didn't want to, but I can't help it because of my curiosity. Maybe someday I will be entering that room without anyone's guidance.

Getting back to the training base, we felt a renewed energy pulsating within us. The apprehension had been replaced by quiet confidence, knowing that we were now better equipped to face the challenges that lay ahead.

The practical learning experience had etched itself into our hearts, reinforcing our dedication to understanding, protecting, and preserving the intricate tapestry of life in the universe.

But I realized that those were just the common aliens found in this universe, not those who destroyed our planet, our home.

That made me understand that there is more to learn.

We got back to the chamber room and all my teammates were busy in discussions about what they had learned today.

After a brief discussion, they all slid into their slumber.

But...!

Despite my struggle, I couldn't even close my eyes.

Whenever I close my eyes, I feel those monsters before me, and the scene where it moved flashes out in my memory.

I just can't get out of that thing.

As I couldn't get out of it, I decided to check it again, just to prove myself wrong.

I was so eager to check them out that I couldn't halt myself and so I sneaked out of the chamber moving towards the training base.

As excitement coursed through my veins, I couldn't help but feel an overwhelming curiosity about the alien species that had made me confused.

The dimly lit room beckoned me, and against my better judgment, I found myself unable to resist the temptation to explore further.

Silently, I slipped away from the training base and made my way back to the secluded area where the alien bodies were secured.

As I already know the access code for that room, I slipped in without making any noise. Though hesitated, I just wanted to confirm that everything was fine.

The containers stood like sentinels, their ethereal glow casting a mesmerizing light. I gazed at them in awe again, my heart pounding with a mix of anticipation and exhilaration. A fear curled up in my gutt. I know this is wrong, and what I am doing right now might not be tolerated in this starship.

I know that I am breaking the rule but still, I don't know why I wanted to confirm this.

Why was my fricking intuition making things difficult for me?

Why did I even hear my instinct?

Lost in the moment, I moved closer to get a better look, my footsteps barely making a sound against the smooth floor. But in my haste and eagerness, I misjudged my surroundings.

I bumped into the first container with the one that made me curious.

A sudden loud groaning sound made me yank. I couldn't believe I heard something like that.

These things are alive...!

I knew it...!

I knew it was not just my imagination.

As I was busy arranging my thoughts, I heard a cracking sound from my behind. Something was off...!

I turned around to see where that sound come from, and trust me guys, it was the moment when I truly understood the meaning of soul slipping into the mouth...!
