Kim Sung-Jin may only be 11 years old but he prided himself on being capable of taking care of himself and his little sister in the absence of their parents.
He would have gone as far as to say that he didn't need the constant fussing of his parents when he was already such a big boy. He had hit the double digits in age and would soon be a middle schooler. If everything stayed the way they were, at least. It had been two days at most since their parents died and Sung-Jin still could not get over the events of that day. What meager sleep he got to have, were all plagued with nightmares of blood and manic grin with sharp pointed lance that struck him down everytime.
But Mr.Doyun's presence soothed him and calmed down the flood of fear and desperation that muddled his mind. He was immensely grateful for the tall man who saved them even though he himself trembled with fear before the monster that killed Sung-Jin's parents.
Mr.Doyun then took them in, fed them and took care of them when he didn't need to. He never once complained about Ah-In and took it upon himself to tend to the toddler.
In the past day and a half, Sung-Jin learnt more about the man called Cha Doyun than the man could probably ever imagine. So when Mr.Doyun came back with his clothes in shreds and dried blood all over his skin, Sung-Jin was understandably upset. He wasn't upset in the 'He looks hurt and it's worrying' kind of way. It was more along the lines of 'What if Mr.Doyun died and Ah-in and I are left alone again?'.
He felt the kind of fear that no child should have felt. The fear of potentially losing someone, of losing a protector. It had only been two days, but it felt like an eternity and half.Sung-Jin sat there, listening to Doyun explain what happened to him on the way back. He quite yet couldn't believe the older man and the pre-teen probably would not fully believe him until he saw that giant tiger himself but he wanted to.
If they wanted to survive then he had to.Finally, after a period of silence that followed after Doyun finished retelling his tale, Lee Iseul threw her hands up in the air with a frustrated groan. She looked kind of silly, Sung-Jin thought. But didn't voice that out loud.
"So you're telling me, that you fought a giant tiger?" The redhead asked in utter disbelief.
The subject of her ire shrugged helplessly, with a resigned look on his face. 'Mr.Doyun was silly too' the pre-teen decided as he watched them argue one sidedly."Well, that's what happened. Now, can I go to sleep?" Doyun asked with a hint of irritation showing through his tone. Iseul, shook her head in refusal and once again questioned the man.
"No! No, you gotta explain everything understandably and not just in mumbles!" She insisted. Sung-Jin could see the way Doyun pursued his lip with a frown. Their guardian most likely tired and finding Iseul's stubbornness annoying.
"Look! I unlocked some new abilities and fought a tiger but that's it! I'm tired, Kim Iseul! We are all tired and running on fumes at this point okay!? Let's just talk in the morning!" With that, the older man stalked into the guest room and shut the door behind himself.
Beside Sung-Jin, Iseul made some kind of unintelligible noise and headed back to bed, closing her door with a slam. Now, the 11 years old was the only one left in the dark living room.
'Well, not really alone.' he supposed as he eyed the small glowing figure that floated alongside him.
[May The Stars Be With You] was ,according to his character page, an ability with potential to be jack of all trades. It's main affinity depended on the user's class. Which meant, for an enforcer like Sung-Jin was of offensive type.It made him able to connect and channel the powers of constellations. Though, it was entirely up to the constellation if they wanted to form a partnership with him or not.
The floating, glowing figure was indeed a constellation. Sung-Jin had been greatly surprised when he had been offered a contract by them, an hour ago. The constellation was called Anu and had apparently found Sung-Jin interesting enough.
Anu was a very good looking man with soft, long golden hair that reached his back, a sun kissed tan skin and entirely black sclera that had white six pointed star shaped pupils. He was also very well built and dressed rather like one of the video game characters, Sung-Jin used to see on the internet.
"What is it now, Child?" Anu's voice rang through the room, breaking the preteen out of his thoughts. He stared at the constellation who just raised an unimpressed eyebrow in response.
"Speak up,child. I cannot read your mind." For some reason, the constellation called him 'Child',it infuriated Sung-Jin to no end. While not yet an adult, Sung-Jin was not a child either. He hit the double digits already!
"I'm not a child." he couldn't help but point out, albeit it came out rather whiningly. Anu 'hmph'-ed rather imperiously at that.
"I will call you a man when you can take down my bull." He stated. 'Seriously, I don't even know your bull.' Sung-Jin pouted.
"So what is it that you desire to know?" Anu demanded, making the preteen refocus back on his questions.
"Anu, do monsters really exist?" Sung-jin asked, despite having realized the answer, already.
"Indeed child, they do exist." He confirmed rather grimly. There were all sorts of monsters out there now, roaming the world with the worst of them still yet to come. If Anu was correct then humanity needed more than they have now to survive through the whole ordeal.
"Then… would Mr.Doyun have died if it was a more scary monster?"
"Perhaps, but that man has fate's blessing so most likely not. Now come, it is time for you to rest." Anu moved to float away when his chosen vessel mumbled out another question. If it had been anyone but said constellation, they probably wouldn't have heard it.
But Anu was not just anyone. He was The Constellation so he heard Sung-Jin loud and clear.
"What do I do then? How would I protect them?"
Anu smirked amusedly. He stood up to look at the boy with all the arrogance of the devil then loud and clearly, he answered him.
"Isn't it obvious boy? We destroy them. The ones that dare to hurt what is ours."
In his words, Sung-Jin could hear the promise. A promise for power to defeat their foes, A promise to protect their precious people and a promise to never falter. So he nodded.
He nodded and placed his trust on the companion that shall remain with him through the darkness to come. Sung-Jin yawned, cuddling up to the couch to sleep. For now, it was time to rest. Everything else could wait until the morning came. °°° [YOU HAVE UNLOCKED NEW ABILITY FEATURE. D******D?]Doyun stared at the screen that floated above him, deep in thought. Beside him, Ah-in slept undisturbed, all the crying she had done earlier had tired her out. Even if it felt kind of mean, Doyun was thankful for that. It meant he didn't have anyone to disturb him.
That tiger and the items he got from it were proof enough that everything that happened so far were real. The world had really ended and he was not taking care of 3 kids on his own. How was he to do it? How had his mother done it?
Doyun felt tears well up around his eyes. His throat felt lumpy and dry to the point of hurting. The green eyed man silently sobbed, failing to push down and swallow his raging emotions.
It was times like this that he missed his mother. Cha Jae had been a gentle woman with the patience of a saint. She had endured years of abuse from Doyun's useless father all the while working multiple jobs and trying to raise him to the best of her ability.
She tried her best and did all she could but Doyun had wasted all her effort by comitting a murder. Even then, never once had his mother gazed at him with anything but pure devotion and love in her eyes.
Cha Jae had been an excellent mother and if she had still been here. Surely, she would be able to tell Doyun just what to do from here on. His body shook as tears flowed even more uncontrollably.
That night, Cha Doyun cried his heart out. Then once he was done, the green eyed man closed his eyes and slept. Preparing for the times to come. He needed rest to survive, they all did.
"Mr.Doyun! It's headed your way!" a young voice yelled out as he chased after the blurry form of a monster that they were hunting."Got it!" Second, an older voice answered and just as the monster rounded the corner, it stopped moving. The monster's limbs were bent at an unnatural angle, struggling to move and get out of the invisible trap that it had fallen into.'Well, not so invisible…'Doyun thought. He had realized a while past that only he could see the strings that he utilized. Even if they manifested into the physical world, they remained unseen by anyone but him.An advantage that only he had due to his new pair of eyes but he also knew that was only because they had yet to bump into any other human being in the past week. "Sorry, Mr.Doyun. I let it get away…" came the tired voice of Sung-Jin. The 11 years old looked out of breath, better than when they had first started hunting a few days ago.

There was a white cloud of dust oozing right above where it stood accompanied by the ear piercing cries of a toddler that rang through the air."AH-IN! SUNG-JIN! ISEUL!!!!" Human species understood pretty early that everything died. On this earth, every life form had a set expiration date but they could also die prematurely from various other causes. So if everything died then would the world die too? The planet too should have a set lifespan no?The complete destruction of the world, apocalypse. It was something humanity always wondered about. The various records through the history of civilization proved that. Cataclysm, Armageddon and Ragnarok, they are but a few of the many names humanity called the end of the world. Even in the 21st century ,society still theorized about when the world might end. That was the purpose of Apocalypse Theory. It was a web platform where they discussed, analyzed and came up with theories about the annihilation.Due to it being a worldwide platform with English as it's main language, Apocalypse Theory was pretty popular. There were also pretty ridiculous conspira
The world was engulfed in silence as they waited with baited breath for what was coming next. It was like time had stopped moving forward just for this moment. Doyun's heart hammered in his chest loudly with emotions he couldn't recognize. He realized that the timer had stopped ticking, a side glance at his phone showed that it had stopped at 15:00:00. Suddenly, a bright light flashed throughthe sky. People moved to cover their eyes from the blinding light and just like that whatever moment they had been stuck in ,broke. The world finally took a breath and the time moved forward once again. But it wasn't the time to relax just yet.'15:00:01'In the place of the light, stood a golden gate glowing with something ethereal, sound of trumpet echoing all across the world.'15:00:13' The gate was thrown open and from inside of it, what could only be called angels poured out
Cha Doyun was a coward. The truth was as simple as that. He never stood up for himself, never spoke up, never tried to help others, for he was scared of another beating if he did. The one time he tried to help and defend himself, he had been thrown into a cold, damp prison for eight years. So yes, Cha Doyun was a coward and he was rather ashamed to admit it.But what actually had made him, a coward, run in to save someone? It hadn't actually been an intelligent decision on his part to step in like that. Maybe it had been a pity, a guilt or maybe it had been because he didn't want to run anymore. Whatever it had been, it had landed him in a rather messed up situation that's for sure. The dark haired man swallowed nervously. The angel was staring at him rather blankly. It scared Doyun but strangely enough, he didn't regret his decision one bit. He had done the right thing for once and if he was to die he
When Cha Doyun came back to it, he was standing alone inside his apartment holding a robe, a noose that hung from the ceiling around his neck. And as soon as the realization settled, he couldn't breathe anymore. His lungs burnt for air while the noose held tight around his pale neck. It hurt. He desperately clawed at the ropes, trying to release himself. With every passing second without oxygen his vision swam with dark spots and his limbs weakened. Cha Doyun still hasn't stopped struggling however. He didn't survive through the previous day just to die like this. The seven minutes he spent trying to live couldn't be wasted like that. In the middle of a seemingly vain attempt to save himself, the dark haired man paused. That couldn't be right, the last thing he remembered was entering the corner shop to hide so why was he at ho… The thought trailed off as his burning lungs finally gave up. Once again the darknes

Doyun had regretted many things in his 29 years of life. He regretted staying quiet when other kids bullied him. He regretted never volunteering when the teacher asked for it. He regretted never stopping his father when he beat his mother. He regretted letting his mother die alone, on the cold floor of their apartment. The point was that the person known as Cha Doyun had many regrets. But there were also things that he will never regret. He would feel miserable and guilty for sure, though he would never regret them. Cha Doyun will never regret his father's death who drank himself to death. He will never regret standing up for his schoolmates back then. And just like how he'll never regret protecting them, he will never regret leaving the kids behind. It wasn't like he left them forever. Just that he needed time to breathe for a while. So he decided to take a walk outside, leaving his kids in the capable hands of Lee Iseul.
When one is asleep, their awareness of their surroundings naturally drops. It is a state of being that most people liked to call half death. During this resting period, our body function slows down, relaxing the body. Sleep is when one is most vulnerable and it is the perfect time to take them down. That was what Doyun learnt from his time in prison. Taught by one of his more vicious inmates when they almost strangled him to death. That was also the reason why Doyun awoke the moment he heard the front door creak open, a door he clearly remembered locking from the inside. Several alarm bells instantly rang inside his head along with four facts that he realized.First, there was someone else in the apartment. Someone they did not know. Secondly, the kids were still asleep and thus vulnerable to an attack. Thirdly, they had no idea about the intentions of the intruder. Finally, the last thing Doyun realized was that he had to protect the c
The city looked worse than expected. Buildings that once stood tall and proud were broken down, eaten by plants. Cars were overturned, rusted and destroyed beyond belief. The corpses that littered the street just the night before had disappeared between the lava and the creatures that littered around the city. The earth had aged by a century within a single night. It was absolutely jarring how it had changed so much. Now, they stood in a dystopian world, abandoned by humanity. All those post-apocalypse stories paled in comparison to the real thing.Doyun chuckled in awe and loss. This was their reality now, he realized. Every single instance, he dreamt of going inside those novels and experiencing the post apocalyptic world, had come true just like that. Still, he couldn't find it in himself to feel the happiness and delight he should have. Not when it had condemned their entire world to despair. Never, when his desires had ruined the future o
By the time the kids woke up, it was half past 6 am and the sun was already beginning to peek through the horizon. As soon as they were up and awake, Cha Doyun gave them the bottle of water and the bag of biscuits he found in the storage room of the camping shop. The dark haired man gently refused when the kids tried to share with him, citing that he had already eaten. In all truth, Doyun was anxious. While keeping watch, he had spied a great number of strange creatures that roamed the streets outside. He wasn't sure what they were but concluded that they were probably dangerous and that he had to keep the kids away from them. What if these things decided to attack them and the kids- He anxiously glanced around the room, trying to occupy his mind with something other than the pitfall it was spiraling into. Doyun knew he was being unreasonably worried about the children when they had only met the day prior. They weren't his kids for god'
