Interlude: One week Before Operation Vanguard

When I got back to the base, I snubbed the OSI agent. Tanya could be debriefed first and my wife didn't seem to have a problem with that. The room I had been given on base had a secret compartment hidden underneath the floor.

I slammed the door closed behind me and locked it. I wouldn't put it past the Office of Secret Intelligence to bust through it without warning. At least now they would need a key and I would be able to hear the locks turning.

My dimensional space was well and good, but if I died, everything in my storage would either be destroyed or released where my body lay. I didn't want this research to be lost, but I couldn't risk it falling into anyone's hands. Not until I understood what I was dealing with.

So I put a beacon down in the space and covered it. If the worst came to the base and I died, everything would be released near the beacon. As quickly as I uncovered it, I pulled the metal back, so I was staring at a floor.
