"It's already 80% apparently. In a little while, everything will be over"
A man who had been different from the start, braver than the other villagers, daring to ride Antlerzard for the first time, joining Zane for the first time hunting, to guarding the very first village, seemed to be approaching Zane.
"…What will be done?," asked the man, "Are you going to leave here? But why?"
Zane didn't answer.
But the man knew that Zane was just an outsider.
The funny thing is, the foreign man helps them for free.
Without the slightest self-esteem.
But it's different for Zane.
[Protect the village, increase my magic by killing monsters, kill two birds with one stone]
But what was surprising for Zane, during this one month he had not moved from level 41 in the slightest.
After killing how many monsters, neither he nor his summons had leveled up.
Time passed quickly.
The villagers' attitude towards Zane had also changed.
At first, their gazes toward Zane were full of suspicion.
They thought he might be approaching the village with a posterior motive.
However, their suspicions cleared up as time passed.
Zane returned to his shabby tent house and lay down on the hard floor. He was exhausted.
After fighting monsters all day long, his body felt drained of strength. Recently, it felt as if he had gone back to the past.
This place was very similar to the world Arnold lived in.
A destroyed world, anxious people, the blue dead sky, and a destroyed earth.
It was swarming with monsters outside the village.
It might have been set up as such to match the stage of the grade S dungeon
[I'll get some sleep and start again tomorrow…]
Just as Zane was about to close his eyes, he heard a movement.
He felt a presence outside the hut.
It was a very small presence.
[The little girl is at the door, Mr. Zane]
Due to Asmo's notification, he walked toward the door and saw a familiar face outside.
"Kids."
"Hic—"
It was the same six or seven-year-old kid that he saw a month ago.
The child who came to find Zane seemed so afraid that she covered herself behind the tree in the distance.
Looking at the child who was half-covered, Zane said with a small smile, "I can see you. Are you looking for me?"
"…Yes."
The child was cute. Zane continued talking, holding back his laughter that was threatening to burst because of the child's reaction.
"Since you are looking for me, could you come closer? If you stood so far away, Uncle would not be able to hear you."
"I'm not a kid! I'm Vera!"
Upset by being called a kid, the child cried out.
She was an interesting child.
With seemingly no thoughts of going closer, she kept her distance while stealing glances at Zane.
Zane waited until the girl came closer.
Vera approached Zane slowly after making eye contact several times.
"Here."
After moments of fidgeting, Vera came near and held out her hand toward Zane. In her palm was a small piece of bread slightly smaller than a fist.
"What could this be?" Zane asked. "Is this for me?"
"Yes."
"Why?"
"I'm just thankful."
"Thankful?"
"I heard that you were protecting our village. Thank you for protecting our village."
It seemed like rumors had spread throughout the village.
"Did you know that? Actually, the village head was a horrible person. I knew that…but…"
"How did you know that?"
"My elder brother was taken away by the village head, and he did not come back."
Zane's heart sank at Vera's answer.
This young child was aware of everything.
She was aware of the sadness of losing her brother and was holding onto the grief.
That was why while the other called the village head a hero, Vera seemed unable to do so.
"Well, they said that you are our village's hero. The other uncles said that."
"…Hero?"
"Yes. So, I will give you this. Take it."
"Rumble—
As she passed over the bread, a sound of hunger could be heard from Vera's stomach.
Without batting an eye, Vera held out the bread to Zane, hurrying him to take it. Something inside of him choked up.
"Why was this young child given such a difficult task as starvation? What was it that made this young child unable to express her hunger?"
He closed his eyes. His anger flared up.
Zane opened his eyes. He looked into Vera's eyes again.
"No, Uncle is…"
[Absolutely nothing, I'm not a hero]
Would it be right to say this?
Was it right to destroy this child's fantasies and hopes that were instilled in these words?
There was a moment of hesitation.
[Vera! You can't do that! I'm sorry, so sorry.]
Vera's mother appeared and swept her up in her arms.
The woman might not have even known what she is sorry for.
Knowing this, Zane hurriedly waved his hands.
"No, it's fine. I was bored and had fun because of her."
"That's right! Mom, you don't even know."
"Vera!"
As if asking her to please be quiet, Vera's mother placed a finger to her lips. She bowed her head to Zane once again.
"No. I should have been keeping an eye on her…she has no manners…"
"It's fine. Really."
The woman had a look of relief after hearing Zane's words.
"Uncle, are you not going to eat this?"
Vera once again held out the piece of crumbly and slightly dusted bread to Zane.
The girl's mother started nagging at Vera again, but Zane laughed lightly and accepted the bread.
"Since Vera gave me a present, I'll have to repay her, right?"
The crumbly, small bread returned as a piece of soft and warm bread from Zane's inventory.
Vera's face brightened as she saw a large piece of bread emerge from Zane's pouch. "Wow!"
She laughed excitedly.
Her mother looked troubled once again.
She looked between her daughter and Zane, unable to do anything.
"Vera, you are really… I'm sorry. You do not have to eat that…"
Before the woman ended her words, Zane opened half of his mask, showing half of his mouth, and put the bread in his mouth, and ate it.
"It's delicious."
In fact, it wasn't even chewable. But…
"Really, it was delicious."
Those were sincere words.
It was tough to swallow that dry and tough piece of bread without water. It tasted nothing like food.
After the kid and her mom said goodbye to Zane and left the hut.
Zane was getting angry.
"Stop all this, you bastard! I already knew you were behind it all!"
A voice sounded in Zane's mind.[Come here, kiddo!]Zane clenched his fists. He also clenched his jaw."This voice?!"[A figure on the same level as Mr. Asmodeus].Caim unknowingly remembered that voice."Belial"Zane decided to get out of the village, forgetting the tiredness in his body. His anger surpassed his tiredness..."Step, step—"Zane was now quite a distance from the village. He felt the eyes of various monsters on him, but he could sense something larger right behind them[You two come out! Supports Asmodeus as well as Caim].[Hahh…Finally, you took us both out, master]Naberius now appeared in his human form. With Zane's artisan weapon and armor effects,Naberius wore a black-red armor plate similar to that worn by Asmodeus, but his form was identical to that of a werewolf. But the boot and gauntlet parts he used were bigger because Naberius was a berserker. He uses leg kicks and hand punches as his primary weapon.Naberius was wearing a helmet like a wo
"Ugh" Many corpses lying everywhere. A woman wearing a robe that was no longer intact looked up at the arrow that had pierced her left chest which was no longer protected. As she felt the coldness of the arrow pierce her heart, her pupils shook as her body slowly lost balance. As the woman fell to the ground, she saw several people moving intensely. An Archmage was having a fierce battle with a magic knight wielding a greatsword. Even though the Archmage didn't have a single weapon on his body, he could still keep up with the opponent in front of him. The longer the fight lasted, the more she knew who the final victor of the duel would be. "Bam—!" The Archmage attacked the magic knight relentlessly. With a non-stop fire skill that he combined with an ice missile also with debuff magic, he managed to hit the magic knight's body and made a hole in his body. Even the attack made his body explode and shatter into pieces. Even so, the Archmage did not stop. Once, twice, three times….
March 28, 2022 A boy looks happy. The holiday season has arrived, and he can't wait for this moment to arrive. When he enjoys the beauty of life without struggling with tasks that make his mind tired. When he was a child around the age of eight, he thought that the world would always be peaceful. No problems, no fuss, no fights. People will always live side by side, laughing merrily, and always be happy. One of his childhood memories is when he went on a trip with his family. Instead of choosing crowded tourist spots, his parents prefer to go to the mountains and camp with all three of their children. The eldest brother sat on the seat on his right, and the five-year-old sister took the mother's lap. Like it or not, he had to sit next to his eldest brother. Right behind his father who was driving. Suddenly the car he was riding in stopped. There was a traffic jam snaking for some reason right in front of his father's car. It was then. He heard a man's scream, not an ordinary sc
June 28, 2033 In a room with not-so-bright lights, a boy changed his clothes as he was listening to the doctor who seemed to be talking seriously to him. "Please avoid going to that dangerous place again, if you go there again you will threaten not only yourself but the city's border guard troops." The boy seemed to nod his head. "Thank you so much, doctor." The boy kept on buttoning his clothes. Beside the boy was a woman who incidentally was his mother, who thanked the doctor. While they were talking, the boy looked out the window at the sight of the city from his house which looked like a flat. With the clouds moving and the sun shining quite hot, everything looked peaceful, even though the world he knew now was not that peaceful. "This sight — I could never imagine being able to see such a different distant sight like this." 2033. Every time he checked an object that looked like a digital watch that was coiled on his left hand, he was surprised by the year and date. Appe
Zane manages to enter a hole which makes things complicated. He did not enter the hole through the same entrance because there were already guards there. He knew another entrance. But the expression on his face was contorted and annoyed when he arrived at his destination. "It's not here?" Exactly two weeks ago, he was suddenly in a dark hole that looks like a giant waterway. He did not know why the owner of the body was in that hole. There was a possibility that Gilbert and the others ordered it. "It couldn't be…" When Arnold thought he was dead, he suddenly woke up and heard a roar not far from him. A human infected with the blast radiation wants to eat it. Luckily, he can cast his magic skills. But when he entered the place again, there was nothing to get, no bit of information that he needed. "Why can I be here? Was it because of my unreasonable request to the Princess? At that time I asked to be revived, is this what I got?" He repeated this question countless times in his
The white scene from before had colors added to it. The precious scene was one of those that couldn't be seen outside the Tower of Magic. Now, the chilly air tickled his skin. The background of the dungeon changes to the Cave."Grrr—""Kraa—!"The Cave was empty, but the cries of the monsters could be heard from somewhere."What great sound effects"Starting from the first floor, the background looked great.Although he made this dungeon, he never knew about the theme, of what he was facing. It's as if the tower of magic has its own algorithm.Arnold had internal conflicts."Would this be the right choice? On the contrary, wouldn't choosing those with greater difficulties bring worse results? I have never tried this grade before"But his concern did not last long."Nothing changes if there are no differences. Nothing is impossible. I'll do it anyways"Change does not come without one's will. There's nothing else as stupid and selfish as expecting positive changes while doing nothing.
The reward at the beginning was great. It was a great kill that gained Zane a precious point in stats. When a summoner manages to get points, that also applies to the summon that the caster spawns."Could there be more rewards?"Every time a floor was cleared in the Tower of Magic, rewards were given based on the results, and permission to advance to the next floor was given. In some cases, rewards were also given while clearing the floor."Grrr—!""Swosh—!"The slain disappeared Darkie Welf's corpse, and the rest seemed to be preparing to pounce.Thirty-three more.It was still manageable.Zane raised his hands again, ready to cast another magic, Asmodeus as well. This time, Asmodeus and Zane made their first move."Slides—"Asmodeus slid his new body between the two Darkie Welfs in front of him.It wasn't as quick. This was the movement limit of Asmodeus's new body. The other Darkie Welfs, too, began running at the same time Zane did.And at that moment, Zane withdrew his body deep
Zane's past life, Arnold, excelled in every way. Not only in his specialty in magic but also in his physical ability. But now, it's all different. He was in a different body and also his new body never had the slightest good physical and magical abilities. Like it or not, Arnold, who is in his new body now, must try harder if he want to achieve his new dream in this new world. Now in front of him stood a floor boss, which proved that if he managed to defeat the monster his first dungeon would be completed.
