Chapter five: Awakened

I was really not a big fan of running away from a three-headed devil that came out of nowhere. Trying to survive as long as possible. Then I wondered, Jeez, what time is it? What the . . . what am I thinking? I have no time to ask myself that. I'm in the middle of a life-and-death situation here. If only there's something I could do to keep myself away from the dragon. It flew in a different direction, one of the heads shook the dizziness away so they could concentrate.

I ran downhill of the mountainside forest, ducking my head as the dragon kept blasting its powerful blazing beams, causing unwanted glaciers. I'm not gonna make it. There was something that zapped my mind when I thought of a stupid idea from the books I've read. I strapped my bow on my back, unsheathed my sword, and faced the reptilian monster.

Are you kidding?! This is hopeless! A part of me shouted. But I simply ignored it because it was too late to run, and I am tired of running. My sword gleamed under the covered sun. The snowfall occurred from the dimmed atmosphere. The breeze turned rougher, making a cold snowstorm. The trees from my surrounding stopped from rattling. It landed and stopped itself from having uneasy vertigo. The three-headed dragon and I glared at each other as if waiting for the other to make the first move.

My heart started to beat slowly. The throbbing of my head lessened. The tighter I held the hilt of my sword the warmer my hand became. The blade was nearly frozen as the snow was piling up on the edge, however, there was some feeling that the ice of the blade would soon melt. I bent my left knee to be ready, still glaring at the dragon. The three-headed didn't blast me, instead, it used its giant claw to strike. I jumped to the side as far as possible. It was as big as a baby whale and that almost killed me. I did the same thing again and again. Despite the speed of the dragon, I was faster than them. I could even jump farther than I had expected. I haven't felt this fast before! I kept on dodging its attacks, going under, jumping back, and blocking with my sword.

Amazing, how did I even get this kind of speed? I didn't even work out. I only ate a bunch of chocolates and went to the bathroom a million times. As the three-headed dragon's claws smashed into the ground, I stepped on it and ran toward the right head to slash its cheek. For a brief moment, the blade of my sword ignited into a bright orange. My feet dashing across its armored arm like lightning. And I did! For the first time, I jumped and rolled onto the ground just to see their faces, the right head growled. I didn't know why I did that, but it worked. I glanced back at my sword that cooled down as its light of fire began to dim. What in the world . . . ?

This time, it whipped with its tail. I was hit and I crashed to the snowy rock wall. My body suddenly didn't hurt. I got up and ran faster than before. What is happening to me? But I didn't mind that at all now I had the adrenaline rushing through my veins.

As the dragon whipped its tail again at lightning speed, I jumped and stabbed the scaly texture at the side of it. I held on really tight while the dragon whipped its tail so many times. I noticed that my blade ignited again as I watched it really penetrated the tail's sidewall. It roared so loud, the ground rumbled, even causing an avalanche.

We're still fighting while sliding off because of the strong fall of the avalanche. The dragon blasted and shot the mountains with a big kaboom! I sprinted on its tail and slashed the neck of the left, but it seemed that its scales were too hard. I jumped back and stabbed the chest while sliding downward. To my surprise, the monster shone in bright red before unleashing its flaming force that pushed me so hard, I flew away. I was dragged along by the avalanche. Even worse, the avalanche dragged us toward the icy lake. I dove in so fast, we went deep. The lake was really cold at first, but the temperature seemed to change after a short while. However, I saw the dragon flew up into the sky, it finally got away.

But I have met my fate. My actions, my ideas, and my choices led me into this icy lake- to my death as I sank and drained of energy. Where my death will be unknown. The three-headed dragon started it anyway, but it didn't matter now. I was sinking into the bottom, waiting for my oxygen to reach its limit.

I thought I was dead. Am I really dead? I thought that I was in the spirit realm because I felt so light and free as if I can move on land again. Although my eyes were still closed. As I abruptly opened them, I didn't even care about the water going through them.

I felt strange, very strange. I had never felt this before, I grew stronger and better. My eyes shone bright red as if the light from my eyes were bright as the inferno. No, not like this! I can not let this happen to me after all the dragon had done! I clenched my fist and held my sword tightly (It was a good thing that I have a good grip). I felt a complete rush in my mind and my nerves. I'm in a complete rage!

The icy water started to boil and all I could see was the shade of bright red. I was glowing with flames. My body shook as bubbles popped above, reaching the surface. The surface! I almost forgot about reaching it. But I was so angry that instead of swimming, I flew like a firework all the way up. I busted away so fast, I caused a huge wave, pushing the icebergs away.

I had no idea if I've been possessed or am I was the one who was in control of myself. I floated in the middle of the sky. I spotted the three-headed dragon flying over the winter forest. I glared and flew down. I was waiting for something, like waiting for the right moment to do something tricky. As they sensed my presence, the humongous dragon widened their mouths. I went at it at full speed and slashed the neck of the middle. I had never, EVER, been so alive before. I had been awakened.

I could see a straight slice in the neck, so I had to do it again. I stopped at great speed then landed on the ground, but I bent my knees to absorb the force. The ground was crushed as if a meteor made a huge impact. Weirdly, I held a force inside me, rocks and other pieces from the earth began to float. I jumped so high that for a moment I broke a sound barrier. I held my sword with both hands and I spun around to do a circle-deadly-cutter (I named it myself). I was like a burning spear. The dragon flew back and charged, but I was so fast, I slashed the right head's eye. The three-headed blew powerful flames all over just to roast me, but again, I'm much faster.

Am I really doing this? I asked myself. Or am I dreaming?

I was in full burst. Red sparks glowed as if I was the light source from the sky. I dashed in different directions, cutting its hard scales to kill it. But the three-headed was strong, too. I couldn't forget that. It whipped its tail and slapped me away very hard. But I managed to control the force in midair and flew back at it. The dragon held its breath as if it was about to unleash its strongest flaming blast yet. I prepared myself to go at lightning speed as if I'm like a red shooting star falling toward the dragon. Really, I was diving covered in flames. Even my sword couldn't resist the heat.

The dragon unleashed its flaming beams. I could barely see anything. As for myself, I just went through the flame. Everything exploded, only in the skies, not the land. Clouds scattered like ghosts. The falling snow was no longer seen.

***

I remembered how I fell. How I heard the dragon growling in pain and falling as well. I felt smoke coming out of me. I felt dizzy and couldn't even tell where I am anymore. Exhausted, I closed my eyes and thought of nothing. Not even my family, my daily routine, me eating chocolate and going to the bathroom, not even my fate. I just closed my eyes, feeling hurt and burned. I didn't even care about falling. The only thing I remembered about this part is the moment I saw the icy cold lake again.

Man, I wish my family could see what I'm seeing right now. And yet there was this anxious feeling that I wanted to get rid of. Fireflies kept changing colors as they illuminate, so were the mushrooms. We had so many delicious, appetizing, and overwhelming scents of food, desserts, and beverages on every circular table that we occupied. No matter how many foods there were, the warriors still able to munch as many as they desire as if they were in an eating contest. The chairs and tables surrounded the center of the camp. I woke up as my head bumped to the ground with a loud thud. My eyes had gone black because of overdue sleep, definitely need to wash them. Later, I went upstairs to the quarter deck to see what was going on. Sean was resting on a hammock, playing his pan that attracted birds while Claes was busy driving. Yesterday, we almost died because of a tornado, and Sean forgot that he was the pilot because he had his distractions. So Claes told him that he's the one who should drive instead. "Morning." Sean stopped to greet me with his usual smile. "Morning. Where are we now?" I asked. Sean pointed to the wooden railing, I went there and gasped as I saw the Northern Quarté burned to ashes. The morning smile instantly dropped. Despite that, I could still see the white snow on the trees. We parked at the burned shore near the icy river. Sean and I followed Claes as we got off the vessel. "Look at this place." Claes wa

Another day, another cruise. Fortunately for us and the Flash warriors, the other ships were parked beside the forest, still secured and ready to use- also safe from the three-headed dragon's flames. They escorted the villagers to their ships before departing to Sonata village. A decent-looking village yet a crowded one if you ask me for further details. It was a shame that we left Quarté. None of us would be able to live from the west, east, or even in the south because the villages were very occupied. Sadly though, even Snowfall village was the only village known in the north. That's what I know at least. "Are we there yet?" I asked Claes, leaning on the railing next to him while he took charge of the steering wheel. "No," he replied with a flat tone. "What about now?" "No." "Now?"

Since I've accepted my new life as a recruit of the enchanted warriors, I had to make the most of it. It came to me so fast and suddenly I had magical abilities- and not what I thought I would have. So as the commander said, they and I will figure out my magic by training. I felt very alienated. With my family and Sam elsewhere, I didn't know what to do first. It was my first time walking in my shoes in the next part of my life. In my closet on the left corner of the wall was where my attires were kept. A red uniform that had a Flash Warrior symbol on the front pocket with black pants and shoes. It's quite comfy as I wore it, especially the soft cushion of the shoes. The texture of the uniform wasn't itchy at all, yet too smooth to the touch. Well, here I am, the first day of school, I told myself. As I prepared myself for the class, a knock came from the door. I opened it as I came closer to reveal a girl with honey-colored hair and

Victor always wanted to be the guy who does impossible things (Which he couldn't yet) because of his abilities, but he has so much to learn and he has yet to discover his limitations. Lenard tends to have every single crush on every single girl, but every single moment, he moves on to another girl. Weird. I'm not judging, but I guess Lenard is that type of person who always looks for a person's appearance one by one. Chloriette always wanted music ever since she's heard of it, but her family won't let her play (It's quite unusual for them to hate music, especially if the issue involved their daughter). She ran away and got kidnapped by a nasty witch and a hideous wendigo and met these two boys. They knew me as a troublemaker because like I always sai

No wonder why we always restart the game." "Come on, I wanna learn how to play chess," Victor whined. Lenard frowned out of frustration. "I know, I know, but you're not remembering what I tell you." "About what?" Victor asked leaving Lenard to scoff at the response. "Ugh, never mind. I'll teach you a couple of techniques when you finally learned the basics, but first, let's eat." Okay, today is Tuesday so we have to learn how to use a variety of weapons. Ha, I can handle this, I thought to myself. I folded the schedule and put it inside my uniform. The unbelievable part of this day was I had so many red uniforms. "Hey," Chloriette called unexpectedly. "Oh, hey." I looked above her shoulder. Commander Grayson's perspective Many weeks had passed after the three-headed monstrous Devastrigon was slain from the dark heavens. We heard his voice echoed with defeat, but the only thing that mattered was everything was in great development to rebuild their homes and recover their resources. I looked at the lamp and beside it was a photograph of me and my family. Mom and dad's smile had never been looked happier while cuddling the four of us. We beamed with glee that reminded me about taking this photo. We all gathered for a group hug that we mostly embrace happiness, except for Mondrea because she was too small and uncomfortable for big hugs. Rosie didn't mind though. Chapter fifty-five: Dragon heart

The dragon was now confused by the time it didn't know where to fly off because of the way we were like flies. With the combined powers of every Dragonslayer, I knew how to watch my back as I flew faster than the dragon's movements. First, I helped the warriors by blasting powerful energy flares as I swung my claymore to each part. That'll do. I focused on the chest- on the heart of the dragon. With a battle cry, I dashed forward before impaling the damaged chest as hard as I could. My blade shone brighter unlike before. I could finally feel the blade digging down very slowly. It almost reached the middle of my blade. "Come on, come on, come on!" I gritted my teeth, trying to push downward. I was thinking about my teeth would crack into pieces or something, because I pressed it so tight as I fought to reach for the heart. Is this the best you can do? Pathetic. The voice from the dragon echoed through the surroundings. Dienockrus you piece of crap. P

"No." "I can feel the dragon's gaining on us." "Then kill it," he simply said. "It's not yet the time." "We'll be there." "Are we close?" "No." "How about now?" "Yes." "Really?" But they did have a plan by sealing it temporarily. Real talk, that didn't quite help. A high pitch frequency screeched in my eardrums. The blur blocked my vision as I kept blinking, but my sight was quickly recovered. My claymore was still in my hand. I was hearing the sound of thunder dimly. Suddenly, voices were coming from far away- calling my name despite the muffling sounds. Over the mountains, the lava flowed down toward the surface. On top of the sky were black clouds flashing with bright, flashing lights. Inside my mind came another voice, but in a whisper. Even for a slayer, you will lose, it said. "Kid!" Over the burned fields came the captain while supporting Lenard by wrapping his arm around his neck. Sean and Victor were also supporting Chloriette. They were all filthy as well, including our clothes torn in shreds. I tried to stand up, but the pain I felt let me down, literally. I haven't experienced pain for so long, I even forgot how it felt like. I lost grip on my claymore and my eyes started to fall.

Chapter fifty-one: It's you and me

The sound of thunder exploded as the middle head of the Devastrigon unleashed a powerful roar before the left and the right consecutively did. It unleashed a powerful sandstorm that we had to cover ourselves. We stood on our ground while covering our faces by using our arms, trying not to get pushed by the unstoppable force. But our feet slid backward before the roar finally pushing us, causing us to roll on the ground. Opening its two big wings, the Devastrigon pierced the wall of the massive volcano to climb. It started to ascend in the red sky as we all looked up. I couldn't believe what I was seeing right now. From its huge body to its tail of the three-headed dragon was armored with crimson hard scales, so bulky it was served as its powered exoskeleton. The wings expanded following with burning flames of the inferno. The side of the dragon's forearm up to the elbows had grown pointy massive horns.

Jabbernock gently hovered above the ground as debris surrounded him. Erna and Johnwolph stood beside me as they entered the room. "Wow, doing your job while staring at the window. That's unusual," commented Erna. Raising his arms, the general looked up and finally turned to us. Because of the wind, the only thing we saw was his silhouette and his furious eyes. "Ah, Lady Erna and . . . Johnwolph?" "What? First time to see an old man?" Johnwolph spat, but the general only laughed at the hunter's glare. "Well, you do love inviting people to the party do you, Vortecse? This is funny." "Are we just gonna joke around or what?" I yelled through the noisy storm. At his back, the window tore apart and turned into shattered debris, swirling around the general's body. He rose again until he had full control of the entire roof of the cabin. "Why? Why do you have to ask him that?" E
