A beast in a hunting ground

The three could not help themselves as they sized the hooded man up and down.

Two of them were middle-aged males. The one who had spotted him looked skinnier than the other who looked like all he knew was fighting and never read a book in his life. The last was a woman wearing leather armor.

They were all wearing impressive armor with the men carrying long swords and the woman a bow and a short sword. It was the woman who spoke next.

"He doesn't have his defensive shield up. Don't you remember your training from the guild? Some who do not put up their defensive shield are powerful bastards that do not want to show how strong they are, with some of those being crazy maniacs who kill anything that comes close to them for the fun of it while for some it's for their cultivation."

She said.

The person who first spotted the hooded man sized him up again and could not help but smile wildly even more.

"And some are weak fools who act strong to keep good guys like us from our meals."

He said and then looked at her then pointed at the man without any fear in his tone.

"He is not from around here. Look at his armor. Many of our own have hoods as some of us do not like to be seen but that armor, I haven't seen armor made of monster bone that is like that in my life."

The other two squinted their eyes after his words then their smiles returned like they were hungry hyenas about to get a free meal.

They quickly leaped off the rock and went to confront the person who had a ticket to them scoring some riches before the man got close to the castle walls.

"As long as we never go on a killing spree, we will never be arrested. How great is our kingdom."

The second man said as his joy made him talk out loud. Some of the travelers, merchants, and adventurers walked as far as they could from them like they knew who they were.

"And those villages have fucking strong Village Lords. I hate them. But, this works too."

The woman said.

They quieted down when they finally made it to their target.

"Hey, buddy...."

The first man could not finish his sentence.

What they mistook for a weakling was a monster. A monster that just went back to a hunting ground where if discovered, everyone in that hunting ground would be gunning for it.

Such a monster's senses were as sharp as the weakest beast who had survived years in a cursed forest while being hunted by many beasts that could kill it with one attack.

He had heard their conversation as he had been paying attention to every other conversation in his hearing range which was a huge area.

'I can't use my power as if any of it leaks out here, they will know that I was here and that old man would definitely sync with my mana signature this time. Worst case, I would be captured and best case, I would escape and have to spend the rest of my life in the cursed forest and never come back.'

He thought. And so as soon as the three came close and entered his attacking range, he wasted no time.

He turned to look at them as soon as one of them said something. The man went quiet as soon as he saw the black part of his hood and that he could not see past it and see his face.

That was when all three of them knew that they had made a mistake.

The man moved so quickly that it was like he was lightning. The first man got his head blown off with one punch and the hooded man was already on to the next target who was the other man in the group before he could get his hand on his sword or activate some form of defense.

He too got his head blown off in one attack.

The first thing the woman did when she saw the darkness in the man's hooded face was to channel all her mana to her defensive shield that covered her whole body while taking out her short sword.

She managed to do all this in a blink of an eye and because she was the furthest of the two, but even with the distance between them and the hooded man dealing with her companions first, she was still too slow.

At the moment she draw out her shot sword the hooded man was already at arm's length of her.

She thought that she saw her opportunity and attacked, trying to chop off the man's head clean off, Her experience fighting and being born in such a kingdom was on full display.

In the second she attacked, the man ducked under the horizontal attack and got closer to her, landing an uppercut to her stomach that jolted her up in the air while taking out all the air inside her and making it hard for her to breathe as the punch almost broke her spine.

The devastating punch lowered her defensive field significantly and while she was airborne she received a right hook to the left side of her head, popping her left eye out while dislocating her jaw, almost ripping it off and wracking her brain so hard that she died on the spot before it even hit the ground and splattered like a watermelon.

The people that were walking near him were shocked and went into defensive stances while taking their weapons out and others getting as far away as possible from the fight.

When they saw the bodies drop down on the ground, the fight taking less than 5 seconds they quickly composed themselves and got out of the way with some already taking towels to clean the blood off of themselves. These were the ones who could not react quickly enough to avoid the blood splatter.

Some walked away like nothing happened while some stayed and looked to see if the hooded man would just walk away or not.

They were disappointed as they saw him go through the dead bodies' armor, taking their storage rings and weapons, and leaving them almost naked.
