Unless the divinity Orisha had spoken to her as regards that. Which would be nearly impossible. Oya was not exactly friendly to the other Orishas. 

So then what could Oya that could really salvage the entire situation? She hated to let down on those who really counted on her. Or maybe it was simply because she was pissed that Laaroye had cursed her right before he died. Still, she did the unthinkable. 

She had gone ahead to the Boat of the dead. Her mission was pretty much simple. Itw as to retrieve a particular soul, the soul which was Laaroye. 

Now, before this, Oya was the Intercessor for the dead souls of some sorts. SO then when she had gone to meet Iku, the Divinity of Death, she had been on some sort of familiarity grounds with him. However, death is always death. He didn't really enjoy her
