You could attribute this to the fact that the Orisha are individually egoistic, being that they have come into massive power. And so they did not see anyone else as their equals. But then the female Orishas were known to also band together sometimes.
Then you could also analyze and rationalize that it was the men who were filled with their manly egos and all but then the real truth is this, the Gods would never band together, male and female unless there was something that was really universe level threatening.
Recall that the Orisha had been created by Eledumare as guardians of the various aspects of reality. So, then again, saddled with this responsibility, it was
