The next morning, Asher stood on the balcony of the hotel room, making a phone call.
"We need to meet with the families, so we can know our next plan of action. I'll see you soon. Send a car to pick me up this morning." Asher said into the phone.
"As you wish, boss." The voice on the other side replied.
"Good." Asher said and hung up.
He moved about to get ready for the day. He looked at his rumpled shirt and jeans, and made a mental note to get himself new clothes. He left the suite and took the elevator downstairs to the lobby. There, he saw the manager from yesterday standing by the front desk, talking sternly to a new receptionist.
The manager turned and noticed him, then rushed forward and began to offer greetings.
"Uh, good morning, Mr…" The manager then realised that he didn't even know Asher's name.
"You can call me Mr. Griffin." Asher told him, noticing his discomfort.
"Thank you very much, sir," The manager supplied.
"I'll be leaving this morning." Asher announced.
The manager paled. He wondered if he had done something to offend Asher and he began to sweat.
"S-sir, if we have offended you in any way, I apologise, I even fired the other receptionist so you won't have to see her again, I…" The manager began to trail off before Asher interrupted him.
"It's okay. I jusy have business I need to attend to." Asher said.
"What about the documents for the hotel sir?" The manager asked.
"What documents?" Asher wondered.
"You offered to buy the hotel last night, sir." The manager said, wiping sweat from his brow.
Asher remembered then. He had only offered to buy the hotel last night as a threat, as he had no use for a four star hotel, but he figured that it didn't hurt to have an extra business.
" Name your price and send it to this number, and you'll receive a call from my bank before the end of the day. I have to go now." Asher gave him a phone number, then walked out of the hotel and into the black car that was waiting for him outside.
The manager, whose name was Mr. Cheng, was in shock. He stared at the card containing only a single phone number and thought to himself,
"That man must never be offended."
Meanwhile, in the Harper household, things were not looking very good. Their company, Harper Corporation was crumbling. They needed backing from strong investors or they would go bankrupt. They were currently having a meeting in their family room, along with other distant relatives who worked in the company.
Roland was currently talking to Roxanne in a very harsh tone.
"If you just go ahead and marry Seth, things will be much better. The Larsens are a second rate family, their involvement in our company will bring us a lot of good invrstors, maybe even a few top rate families." He said, pointing at Roxanne.
"Don't mind her, she's so selfish. And Seth is so rich and handsome too." Roxanne's sister, Meredith said with a hint of jealousy in her tone.
Roxanne ignored her and looked to her father, saying,
"But father, if you can just give me a little time, I can get a few proposals ready which will pull some really strong investors to our company."
Her father seemed to consider her words, then he smiled a slow smile.
"Okay then," he agreed, causing looks of shock to appear on the family members' faces.
"In fact," he continued, "our previous deal for you to marry Seth is off the table."
Odette jumped out of her chair with a shout, "You can't be serious, Roland!"
He shut her up with a stern look, and turned to look at his daughter. She was too valuable to the company for him to fire her, so he had come up with another plan.
"Roxanne, I'll allow you submit your proposals. But you have three days. If you don't find new investors in three days, then you must divorce your trash husband and marry Seth Larsen immediately."
Roxanne felt her blood run cold. How could her family be so cruel? But she couldn't show any weaknesses in front of them, so she agreed to her father's impossible deal.
As she watched the cruel smiles of her family members, she hoped she hadn't made a terrible mistake.

The car turned onto the paved road that led to the Garrison estate. They were a second rate family in New York City, with a lot of influence and connections as they were once a top rate family. However, not many knew their background or how they were able to remain an influential family after the disaster that befell them all those years ago. Asher Griffin was however very privy to that secret, as they were one of the many families in the country that answered to him. Or rather the power he represented. Either way, he needed a base of operations, and as long as they played their cards right, they could benefit from this arrangement greatly. The car rolled to a stop in front of the gates of the expansive Garrison estate. The guards at the post were confused, as they weren't alerted by the family higher ups that anyone important was visiting that day. "Who are you, please? And how may we help you?" One guard approached the car on the driver's side and asked. Asher didn't reply, it w

Asher's Legacy. Chapter Eight.
It was a regular afternoon in the Harper Corporation. Somehow, word had gotten out about Roxanne's mission to find new investors or be made to leave her current husband and marry the Larsen's heir, so it was the current hot topic of discussion in the office. "Did you hear the news about Roxanne?" One lady called to another from her cubicle. "Oh yes I did. Such juicy information." The second lady replied. "I really do hope she divorces that her good for nothing husband. I was lucky to see Seth Larsen once, he's so tall and handsome." The first one said, clasping her hands in front of her chest with a dreamy look in her face. "That means you want our company not to get investors?" the second one chided her. "If she marries Seth Larsen, the Larsen's family business will partner with us, so what do we need investors for? Don't forget they're a second rate family." The first lady reminded the second one. "Oh well, you're right. But that's enough Roxanne drama, she's still our boss an

Asher was back in his room at the hotel when he received a phone call from Andrew Garrison. He picked and placed the phone against his ear. "Hello, Andrew. I assume the first thing has been done?" "Yes, Mr. G, done exactly according to your instructions. I even sent my brother as a show of good faith." Andrew's voice came over the phone. "Good. I know that some of your staff may have their reservations, but trust me. I'll send you three hundred million dollars right now as an initial investment." Asher said. "Sir, wow. Thank you sir." Andrew breathed in gratitude. "It's nothing, Andrew. This is just the beginning of what you stand to gain by allying yourself with me." "I understand, sir. I await further instructions.""I'll get back to you when I need you." Asher said. "Yes sir." Andrew said and hung up. Almost immediately, Asher received another call, but this time from Roxanne. On seeing what he did, Odette flew into a frenzy. "Now look what you've done, you useless good for nothing. Stop hindering our chances at a better life! Maybe of we just cut you off this family you'll learn your lesson."Roland stood behind his wife in support. "She's right, Asher, you're just a leech feeding off this family's resources. But no more. As from today, the Harpers disown you as a member of the family. You no longer have any ties to us, social or otherwise. And once we find a way to separate you from Roxanne, it will be permanent."Asher felt nothing as he heard his father in law's words. It changed nothing, they had never treated him like a part of the family anyway. All they did was humiliate and insult him. Roxanne, however, was torn apart. She moved to beg her family but Asher gripped her hand, giving her a small, subtle shake of the head as a signal not to act. She nodded her head, learning to trust her husband in such situations. A member of the wait staff came and

After Asher left the party, he called a car to come and pick him up. Not too long after that, Liam Garrison came to stand beside him. "Aren't you offended by their actions, sir?" Liam asked him. "And why should I be?" Asher asked, a small smirk stretching his lips. "Sir…" Liam trailed off. "Exactly." Asher stated. "There's no need for me to reveal myself this early, and the Harpers aren't worth me sabotaging myself just this soon. All except one anyway.""I understand." Liam nodded, just as the car arrived. Asher stepped into the backseat of the car and waited as Liam got into the other side. "Where to now, sir?" Liam asked. "I need to find a place to stay. Something more long term.
