Asher just stood and watched as Andrew berated James.

"I hope you're not offended, Master Kane. Some people can't recognise greatness even when it stands before them," Andrew tried to suck up to Asher, who only replied with a small smile on his face.

Asher then ordered the security guards back to their duty posts. The two guards who had let Asher in bowed and thanked him profusely before rushing back, feeling relief that they had not taken action against him.

James, on the other hand was as pale as a sheet. He was currently trembling where he stood by the side. Who exactly had he offended? He had let his arrogance and greed go to his head. He was praying silently that the mysterious man whom even his family head had to respect would have mercy on him.

As if Andrew could hear his brother's thoughts, he called him ti kneel in front of Asher and apologise.

"Now, apologise to Mr. Kane here. He will decide how he wants to deal with you."

James quickly got onto his knees and began to apologise to Asher, but Asher cut him off, saying,

"It's fine, it's fine. Just try to be calm next time."

James nodded and got up, and followed silently as Andrew led Asher into the Garrison mansion. They walked through a series of hallways until they reached a secluded parlour that was tastefully decorated. Asher and Andrew sat down in the comfortable looking leather armchairs facing each other, while James stood respectfully to the side.

"Shall I fetch you a drink, Master Kane?" Andrew offered.

Asher declined, saying, "It's alright, I'm not here for drinks. Also, I'd like to be known as just Asher or Mr. G. The fewer people that know about my identity, the better."

Andrew nodded seriously. The Kane clan was a behemoth and was not to be underestimated.

"So, now to why I'm actually here," Asher began in a serious tone. "How are the Garrison's businesses doing?"

"Businesses are doing fine. Even though we have some very strong competitors, we're not doing very bad in comparison." Andrew replied.

"And what sectors do you specialise in?" Asher asked again.

"Finance and hospitality." Andrew answered.

Asher smiled to himself, it seemed luck was on his side. The first phase of his plan was going to go even smoother than he thought.

"Andrew, you have to listen to me and do exactly as I say. If you follow my instructions, the Garrison family will reclaim it's position as a top rate family in this city very soon." Asher said.

Andrew nodded in acknowledgement, "Yes, Mr. G, I understand."

"Now, I want you to send a proposal to the Harper Corporation for partnership." Asher told him.

At those words, Andrew's brow wrinkled in confusion. The Harper Corporation was an insurance company owned by the third rate Harper family. How was partnering with them going to help their businesses?

He voiced his concerns to Asher," But sir, business is not going very well for the Harper Corporation. How can they help us?"

Asher expected his question, so he explained to him, "I know you have worries. But if your finance company partners with their insurance company, I'll make an big investment with you both that will boost the both companies' incomes, as well as promote them so we get more investors. And I also have plans for the hospitality industry."

Asher thought back to the four star hotel he purchased earlier. Once he got the Garrisons on board for that plan to, the first phase of hia plan would properly be in motion.

He needed to begin building his expanse of network silently, and developing it into his own empire.

He explained his plan about the hotel to Andrew, and they went over the final details before they shook hands, sealing their business deal.

As he was leaving the mansion, he spoke in a low voice to Andrew who walked beside him.

"You know what this means, right?"

Andrew nodded in response. "I understand, sir. The Garrisons give you their full support and will not let you down."

"That's wonderful. I want the deal with the Harpers finalised within three days." Asher said as he entered his car.

"Consider it done, sir." Andrew replied and watched the car leave the estate.

James came to stand beside him where he stood on the front porch, then asked

"Just who exactly is that man?"

"Someone nobody in this city can afford to offend." answered Andrew.

"And he's now our backer, right?" Excitement was evident in James's tone.

"Watch your mouth, James. That man has enemies that you can't even fathom. One wrong move, and we'll be obliterated by either side. Not a word of what happened today leaves this house, do you understand?" Andrew warned James.

James swallowed and nodded gravely in agreement." I do."

It was a regular afternoon in the Harper Corporation. Somehow, word had gotten out about Roxanne's mission to find new investors or be made to leave her current husband and marry the Larsen's heir, so it was the current hot topic of discussion in the office. "Did you hear the news about Roxanne?" One lady called to another from her cubicle. "Oh yes I did. Such juicy information." The second lady replied. "I really do hope she divorces that her good for nothing husband. I was lucky to see Seth Larsen once, he's so tall and handsome." The first one said, clasping her hands in front of her chest with a dreamy look in her face. "That means you want our company not to get investors?" the second one chided her. "If she marries Seth Larsen, the Larsen's family business will partner with us, so what do we need investors for? Don't forget they're a second rate family." The first lady reminded the second one. "Oh well, you're right. But that's enough Roxanne drama, she's still our boss an

I know that some of your staff may have their reservations, but trust me. I'll send you three hundred million dollars right now as an initial investment." Asher said. "Sir, wow. Thank you sir." Andrew breathed in gratitude. "It's nothing, Andrew. This is just the beginning of what you stand to gain by allying yourself with me." "I understand, sir. I await further instructions.""I'll get back to you when I need you." Asher said. "Yes sir." Andrew said and hung up. Almost immediately, Asher received another call, but this time from Roxanne. "Hello, my dear," he purred into the phone as he picked up. "Asher, you would never believe it!"

As from today, the Harpers disown you as a member of the family. You no longer have any ties to us, social or otherwise. And once we find a way to separate you from Roxanne, it will be permanent."Asher felt nothing as he heard his father in law's words. She moved to beg her family but Asher gripped her hand, giving her a small, subtle shake of the head as a signal not to act. She nodded her head, learning to trust her husband in such situations. Asher stepped into the backseat of the car and waited as Liam got into the other side. "Where to now, sir?" Liam asked. "I need to find a place to stay. Something more long term. The dominated the luxury good business in the city, with only a few competitors. They also had very distant ties to the Kane clan, just not as deep and strong as the ties the Garrison family held. The Rolls Royce pulled up in front of the Eastwood manor. The security guards, unlike previous guards that Asher had come in contact with let him through without any hassle. The news about the purchase of the house earlier had everyone on tenterhooks, as nobody wanted to unwittingly offend anybody for now. Not too long after that, Asher heard voices approaching the parlor, just as a distinguished older man came into view. He looked to be in his late 50s, but he was very fit for his age. Asher wasn't surprised, he knew that martial arts was one of the Eastwood's many hobbies. As Asher was sizing the man up, he was also doing the same thing to Asher. Lionel Eastwood wondered just who the young man in front of him was. He seemed to be about the same age with his son, and didn't look like he came from a notable family, if not, he would have recognised him. He waited for Asher to speak first. "You must be the head of the Eastwood family." Asher's voice rang out. A quick flash of displeasure raced through Lionel. He ignored the way Asher spoke to him as an equal and replied, "Watch your tone, boy. You should know how to interact with a family head."Asher just ignored the w

He looked down at the caller ID, it was an unsaved number. He picked up the call with a small frown, "Hello? Who is this?" A panicked voice came from the other end, "Hello, Mr. Griffin! Its Mr. Cheng, the manager of the hotel you purchased not too long ago."Recognition dawned on Asher. "Is anything the matter, Mr. Cheng?" "As a matter of fact, yes sir. There's a situation at the hotel, and they won't listen to me. You have to hurry here sir.""They? Who are they?" Asher asked. "They from the mob, sir. They work for-" The line suddenly went dead. Asher stated at the phone, wondering exactly what was going on. He had only bought that hotel as a show of power, but if anyone thought they could mess with him, they were in for a surprise. "This hotel is under his protection, and such, a portion of the profits belong to him. Mr. Cheng here was supposed to remit those funds yesterday, but he didn't. Already, he said he didn't want the hotel under Boss Mozorov's protection anymore.""Then why didn't you listen to him?" The gang leader laughed. "It doesn't work like that, pretty boy. No one can just use Boss Mozorov's protection however they wish. And now that you've crossed him, you'll pay the price. All of you."Asher contemplated for a moment, then got up from the gang leader's back.
