Fifty Eight

Jake counted out twenty thousand dollars and handed it over to the man. Aidan watched in shock as Jake did that. The money was checked and Jake was given a receipt of payment. The gates were thrown open and they were allowed to enter the place.

“Jake? I know you to be a broke fellow. Have you turned into a thief too? How did you afford so much money?” Clinton was the first to speak after he recovered from his initial shock. Jake ignored him and said to Aidan,

“I have made the payment. I should have your wristwatch now.”

Aidan was bitter and he felt very bad about it. He didn't want to give away his expensive wristwatch but his classmates were there and he didn't want to be a person who failed in his own part of a deal.

“Yes, tell us. How did you get such a huge sum?” another joined in.

“I've worked so hard all my life so I can afford to pay the entry fees now.”

Aidan took off his watch and said,

“I will never go back on my words. Here, have the wristwatch.”
