Thirty Four

Jake turned in that direction and saw Vincent Winters running up to him.

“Pray, Jake. Undo what you have done. I've learnt my mistake now. I will never be careless in the future, please,” he begged.

“Too late,” Jake replied.

Vincent had only a few hours left. His father had reminded him that he was going to get his lawyer to change the will in Jim's favour. Left with no other choice, Vincent had gone in search of Jake without success. He had dropped by to see if another person would help him out only to stumble on Jake.

“Isn't that Vincent Winters?” George asked, coming closer to them.

“It's him. Emm. How about you go ahead and to your office. I'll find my way home from here.”

“Is that okay by you? I should make going home easier for you, Jake.”

“Oh no. I have other things to do around here. I'm perfectly fine.”

Having dismissed George, Jake focused on Vincent once more.
