Thirty Three

When she got closer to them, a bouncer stopped her midway.

“You can't step further than this. Go back Miss.”

She strained her neck to see more but there was no Jake in sight.

Had she seen wrongly? Or was it her imagination?

“Of course, it should be my imagination. Jake can't be with Reed. No, he's hopeless.”

Sky went home and relayed the outcome of the meeting to her mother. Amelia was unhappy that they lost Reed.

“We will try again, child.”

Grrrnnggggg! Grnnnggggg!!

Jake's phone rang. He stretched his hands lazily and picked it up. He was seated in an air conditioned office, going through the files that were brought before him. His grandfather had officially handed the company over to him and charged him to do his best. The caller was George.

“Hello George.”

“Jake! You will not believe what I'm about to tell you right now! I'm super excited!” George exclaimed. Jake smiled. He knew what his friend was about to say, after all, he was the one who put him in the managerial position.
