Chapter 5 Face smacking

Cia and Daniel's body shook at the sight in front of them.

Cia's head started spinning!

She had known Clinton ever since he started dating Xavier, but how can he suddenly turn this rich?

To even buy a bracelet that cost 55,000$ without blinking. If it turns out that Clinton was some sort of rich heir then she will die from regret!

"It's a lie right? Clinton can't possibly buy this on his own. Maybe he stole the credit card." Cia tried to reason.

The manager stared at Cia coldly and gave her a tight slap. "Are you blind! How can you say that to our VIP customer?"

VIP customer?

So now that he is rich, he is a VIP?

Clinton chuckled at her remark.

Cia held onto her burning face as she continued to talk. "You are mistaken, he must have stolen the card. He is not rich, he is just a cleaner in our school. How can he possibly have so much money?"

Her words made everyone came back to their senses.

"Yes, I think that makes sense, Manager, let's check the card properly." The old saleswoman said unhappily, she couldn't accept the reality that someone, dressed so poorly could by rich. "I will bring the card expecting machine."

Since the manager was not that convince, she nodded for her to bring the machine over.

"Dear Mr Clinton. Please do you mind?"

"You guys think I stole this card?" Clinton looked at them, not surprised with their sudden attitude.

Clinton inserted the credit card into the special card reader.

"Tell me your full name and your date of birth" The manager asked as if he was a criminal.

"Clinton Wayne, my birthday is 7th August 2000"

The manager inputted his details and a few minutes after the results came out!

The card actually belonged to him!

Their mouths widened to an 'o' as they stared unbelievably at the machine, they were immediately dumbstruck like they just received the greatest shock ever.

The saleswoman, who had insulted Clinton earlier, knelt on the ground with a thud.

"Mr, Clinton, I'm sorry. I misunderstood you. Please forgive me."

Clinton paid her dust as he walked up to Hannah. Amongst all the others, she was the only person who didn't look down on him. He looked at the collection of bags and selected one. "Take out this bag and keep it."

Clinton went to swipe his card the second time and the sound of a failed transmission was heard.

Suddenly, everyone snapped back to reality.

"I knew it. Your money is all gone! You must have won a lottery, but then you have used all of it just to buy an expensive bracelet." Cai scoffed, after finding out he was out of money, she could now breathe properly.

"Clinton, did you forget your hometown? When you had 55,000 earlier, were you thinking the world belonged to you? To think that I thought of apologizing to you a moment ago."

Daniel and the rest all started laughing at him.

"Hahaha. You just wasted all your money within just a day after you managed to get some few bucks. Haha"

As they were saying this, Clinton looked at three expensive bags and took them out.

"Hey, what are you doing.. you don't have…."

Before Cia could speak again, Clinton had removed the forth bag, then the fifth.

He then went to the card reader and swiped his card.

Ding!

Transaction of 100,000$ successful.

The manager: "......."

Cia and Daniel. "....."

The saleswoman "...."

Only Hannah was smiling at Clinton.

"All the bags belong to you" Clinton handed all the bags to her.

Hannah quickly rejected. "Please don't bother with me. I was just doing my job."

Clinton acknowledge and pushed all the bags to her. "You did well. Continue doing good to people" After saying that he turned around and walked out of the boutique with the golden package of the Ruby bracelet in hand.

"Clinton. Please wait"

Clinton heard the sound of a hurried footsteps behind him, turning around he could see Cia running towards him with a wide smile plastered on her face.

"What is it?"

Cia took a breather before she started walking closer to him, almost hugging him. "Oh Clinton." She ran her fingers across his shoulders "Don't take me seriously, all this while I loved you that's why I always teased you when I saw you."

Clinton nealy fainted after she said those words.

Love me? The f*ck!

"I love you dearly, that's why I advise Xavier to break up with you so we could end up together."

When she saw that Clinton wasn't angry, she continued to press on. "Why don't we start dating, after all you like me don't you. I've seen how you've been looking at me from time to time. What do you say, Clinton?"

So just because he bought so many bags for Hannah, Cia has already left her boyfriend and was chasing after him?

"Cia, I don't like you."

Cia hugged him suddenly. "But I love you very much, don't you say that to me. I know that you think that I have mistreated you, but I only did that because I loved you. If you don't accept me then I will never let you go" Her voice turned serious, making Clinton helpless.

"Okay fine."

It was as if she was anticipating this answer, the moment she heard that, she smiled and placed a kiss on his cheeks.

"Thank you, I will call you tonight. Bye honey"

Clinton shook his head looking at how Cia had acted right now.

He was about to hail a cub when his phone notification sounded.

He didn't want to read at first, but somehow he also wanted to see the content of the message.

He took out his phone and selected the new messages he had received.

Vannesa: Clinton where are you, There's something that I want you to do for me"

After seeing that it was Vannesa, he smirked, and subconsciously saw the text again, and noticed that she wanted him to do something.

Clinton: What do you want me to do?

Vannesa: There's a Restaurant near your school, I want you to go there and meet someone. Previously, I bought all the shares at the Restaurant, but I bought it under your name. Because of that you have to meet the manager and sign all the paperwork tonight. It cannot be delayed.

Clinton rubbed his eyes as he looked at the text.

Clinton: OMG! Another restaurant? Just how many restaurants do we own?

Vannesa: lol. Are you going to do it or not? There's no time, it's getting late. Don't you know about Victoria's Restaurant!"

Clinton: What, Victoria Restaurant?

Vanness: Yes. Just go there and do the paperwork. Bye!

Having gotten this new assignment, Clinton felt like life was actually doing him good. Vanness made it sound like a favor but in it's actual sense it was more of a blessing to him.

Not wasting time, he flagged down a taxi and went to Victoria Restaurant where the party was being held.

If he remembers correctly, then after tonight, this restaurant will belong to him.

***

As he stood at the entrance, his mouth was opened wide as he viewed the opulent scenery of the Restaurant building.

The building was a large storey building with decorations, that made it look like a kings palace.

When he entered the building, his eyes blinked rapidly, at the pristine marble floors, and the elegant floral arrangements in the restaurant.

The scenery rendered him speechless, as he walked in the mist of people, who were looking at him, intently as if he was in the wrong place.

He increased his pace and found a table and sat down, he promptly sent a text message to the restaurant manager.

But unexpectedly, he didn't receive any reply, he waited for a minute and yet there wasn't any response from him.

He got up and asked around but instead he received a cold reply that he didn't want to hear in his current state.

"Miss. You are a staff right, Please where is the office of your manager?" He then asked a waitress who seemed to be old, hence she didn't look down on him, or perhaps she thought he was here to apply for work.

"Take the elevator to the last floor. Knock on the second office, if you don't get a reply, wait at the door."

Clinton thanked her and followed her instructions, he took the elevator to the last floor.

***

He approached the door to the second office and knocked, prompting a well dressed man to open the door. He wore a navy-blue suit with a slim cut, a crisp button-up shirt, and a black silk tie.

The man glared and looked disgustingly at Clinton, from head to his toes as though he's access his outfit.

"Young Man what are you doing here?" The man asked rudely.

"I'm here to meet the manager of this restaurant" He replied, maintaining a cool and a professional personality.

However, Clinton's responded elicited laughter from the man, who proceeded to scrutinized him from head to toe again.

"Take a look around" he nodded at the building. "Do you think a person like you is supposed to come ten inches near a place like this?"

"Excuse me?"

"No, excuse me" He snapped. "Now, take a look at your self.. do you really think anyone.." he eyed Clinton's sneakers. "Just anyone can see the manager? Are you out of your sense?" he scoffed.

"You should leave now" he concluded in an *end of discussion tone*.

Clinton couldn't wonder why the man thought he was a joke.

"I want to see the manager, the previous owner of this Restaurant told me to meet him this night, it's urgent." Clinton replied, holding on to his anger.

If not for his sister, Clinton would have punched him in the face already but he couldn't bring himself to do so.

"Okay"

However, the man opened the door fully, Clinton was expecting the man to usher him in, but he acted completely opposite. He stepped out to meet him and locked the door.

Clinton furrowed his brows.

"I said you should leave are you deaf?" he snarled.

"what?"

"I will beat you up if you don't leave this minute. Someone like you should not be seen around here." he said, his voice filled with aggression.

Clinton was dumfounded and ashamed of himself as well. He lowed his head realizing that it was entirely his fault for not dressing up officially to meet the manager.

He shoved Clinton, causing him to stumble almost falling. "I said leave! I will be meeting a very respectful person. If he sees you, It will tarnish my image as the manager"

Clinton looked at the so-called manager and laughed bitterly in his heart. So this was the manager he was about to meet?

How can a manager be this ruthless, he almost beat him up just because he was not wearing something nice?

At first Clinton thought he was a guard, but after hearing his words, he smiled and said calmly.

"Manager I believe you are making a mistake don't you think?"

The man however sneered. "Get lost. You assholes always walk into high places just to beg from high people, like my self"

Clinton shook his head vigorously, "you deam yourself to be high above me? Think again"

"Damn it. I stand at the peak and look down on poor people like yourself, just like how the moon looks down on earth" he slurred.

The man's words caused Clinton to burst into laughter. How can a person of great prestige speak those words?

Clinton was very disappointed.

"Okay, I will leave now!"

Clinton turned around and strode towards the elevator.

The manager however, nodded in satisfaction after getting rid of the shabbily dressed youth. When he realized that Mr. Clinton, had taken long but not arrived, he took out his phone to call him.

His eyes nearly popped out, seeing the messages Mr Clinton had sent him 25 minutes ago.

The manager then decided to go downstairs, thinking maybe Mr Clinton might have been waiting for him there.

He walked in a fast pace as he reached Clinton walking on the corridor, he nearly pushed him aside, but stopped when Clinton said something he was not expecting to here.

"Mr Clinton is already disappointed in you!"

When he heard these words he turned and looked at Clinton, confused. "What did you say?"

"Why don't you call Mr. Clinton?" Clinton replied, smirking at him.

The manager was already enraged by Clinton's appearance but his words were now making him confused.

He took out his cell phone and called Mr Clinton's number.

Ring! Ring!

The melodious ringing tone from Clinton's phone, sounded in the air, suddenly!
