Chapter 3: The deadly dream

He walked home through the quiet streets. It was 6:30am in the morning, yet the streets of new Orleans were as busy as it could be.

The cold breeze touched his skin, and he jogged down the streets .

On the huge screen of the city were the famous e-sports stars. The Great Seven were famous in their small city.

Everyone had developed an addiction to the G.A.P game.

He really knew little about the game, but the most famous player was Leax. She was a small, frail girl who most guys found cute and was the best player on the team.

Although they appeared to be a regular team, there were rumours about them, about them being heros in a parallel universe, like gods or something in another universe.

He wasn't one to gossip, so he paid little attention to those rumors.

The weekend was everyone's favorite day of the week, but not more than Xorn's. He stopped at the early morning cafe, grabbing two cups to go.

He jogged the entire street. He loved the streets of New Orleans.

It always smelled like cigars and cats, note the sarcasm.

The sun was rising, and he stopped at his girlfriend's house.

She was at the window.

Wearing those glasses he likes so much in a cute lemon bra. "Didi," he waved, and she waved back. He climbed up to her window, kissing her. "I got you coffee."

"Awww thanks babe," she kissed him back. "I love you."

"I love you too, cupcake." he winked, inhaling her dandelion scent and kissing her neck.

"See you at dinner?" he said, jumping back down the window and jogging backwards.

"See you there," she winked back.

He was introducing her to his parents today. She smiled at him, tossing her messy blonde ponytail over her shoulder.

Perfect. His life was perfect with that smile of hers.

Later that day.

He took a quick shower since he had one earlier. He stepped out of the bathroom. When his phone rang.

Taking the call, he toweled his wet hair. "Hello mum."

"When are you bringing my daughter-in-law over?" his mom questioned, and he chuckled.

Something moved behind him. He turned around but saw nothing.

He could have sworn he saw something there. Maybe he imagined it?

"Xorn?" his mom called his name.

"Yeah, I'm bringing her home today. I hope you have everything ready. This engagement has to be the perfect surprise," he said. Smiling, it was probably a bug or something he thought.

"I can't wait to meet her, and yes, everything is ready. I invited a few guests. Josh is coming too." His mom squealed, ending the call.

He looked at himself in the mirror for a moment, then walked over to his bed. Thinking he might imagine things, he turned to exit the room only to come face to face with a small, frail blonde girl in his room.

"Holy mother oh! God, you freaking scared me!" he exclaimed, clutching his chest.

"Congratulations, you've been chosen." She smiled at him like she didn't just scare the bones out of him.

"Um okay. Great, who are you again and what are you doing in my house?" He asked impatiently.

She poked at his abs with her finger and he slapped her fingers away. "Oh, nice abs," she giggled.

She walked around his room without answering him and he couldn't chase her since he was still in a towel.

"Hello! who are you?" He asked again as she opened his drawers searching for god knows what.

"The world is ending today," she said with a brilliant smile on her pale face.

"What?" Xorn questioned, walking up into his walk-in closet and throwing on the first shirt he could find since she wasn't planning on leaving.

She sprawled on his bed, her blonde hair spilling over his sheets with such a long mane like an anime character.

Now that he thought of it, she looked familiar. "The world is ending today. The monsters are going to attack by dawn. They're going to annihilate half humanity unless we stop them."

He struggled to put on his pants while holding his towel, listening to the gibberish she was speaking. "Right, monsters. Right, and so what does some monster have to do with me?"

"They have sent me to recruit you for the Gods Annihilation Program G.A. P for mages who trained to end the existence of gods through training and cultivating magic." She said simply.

"G.A. P? isn't it that popular game everyone is playing..." he finally realized where he recognized her from "Your Leax Dracon." he gasped in realization. "Holy shit, you're like freaking famous."

"Yeah, yeah, and we need you on the team." She stated simply.

"But I've never played before," he replied, putting on his shoes and checking his watch. He was running late!

Leax sat up. "Forget the game. I'm serious. This isn't a joke, Xorn we need you."

Xorn arched a questioning brow. "How the heck do you know my name?"

Leax sighed in frustration. "That's not important!"

He clapped his hands together.

Grabbing his wallet, he patiently spoke to her "Okay, so um I'm really busy today, I can see that you're lost. I'm going to assume that you got into my house by mistake, so I don't have to call the cops. If you need a ride home, I can take you home." He said as nicely as possible, spraying on some deodorant.

Leax stood up, annoyed with his nonchalance. "People are going to die, Xorn."

Xorn frowned, "Look, I don't know you. I know nothing about games. I don't know how to heck you got into my house, how on earth you know my name or what the heck you're even talking about, so please stress me less and just do as I say."

Her lips pressed into a thin, hard line of stubbornness etched into those blonde brows. "I'm calling 911"

She snatched his phone. "No. I'm good. You can attend your proposal since it's more important to you than the wellbeing of humanity."

"Thank you for understanding," he sighed gratefully, grabbing his car keys.

She followed him, getting into the car with him. "Do you have to follow me? Don't you have like a home to go back to?"

She shook her head. "I can't go back without you."

He frowned with annoyance. "Suite yourself."

He started his car, driving over to his parents' house.

The rooftop was already well decorated with balloons and rose petals, all in burgundy, Diors favorite color.

He parked the car, turning to face Leax. "No matter what you do, stay in the car."

She said nothing. "Monsters, mages, gods, demons are all real and they are coming to end the world. Watch out."

And he got down, standing at her window. She handed him a card. "If you need me, call. This number." with that, she vanished. She freaking vanished.

He chose not to panic. Today was a good day for him. He shoved the card in his pocket and went into his parent's house.

The whole event was going smoothly. His parents welcomed him with a warm hug.

It overjoyed his mother to see him. "Oh, that's my son. " His mother hugged him tightly.

His father patted his back. "It's great to see you settle down, son."

Everyone was happy for him and finally.

The hour came, his bride walked in dressed in the prettiest burgundy silk dress. Her black hair is in a French twist.

She was stunning; she took his breath away. The moment she stepped in the violin's sound playing, Lana del Rey filled the room.

He walked up to her slowly, and her face had the loveliest smile. Her eyes sparkling with tears.

He went on one knee, and she chuckled, holding back happy tears.

"Since the moment I set my eyes on you, Dior. I have loved you. The past five years of my life have been my happiest. I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you. Would you marry me Dior?"

A wide smile threatened to tear her cheeks as her mouth slowly said the word yes.

Perfect. Everything was perfect as he fitted the ring on her finger.

Then the lights appeared in the sky, like a spotlight from the heavens. She looked like an angel.

Her skin was white as the moon, her head in his hands, her blood on his face.

As the beams of light, rays spilt her body in two.

Her smile was still on her lips. The ring in his hand.

Her feet were still on the ground, but her head was in his hands.
