Linda went back home and successfully sneaked in without being seen but then Maxwell Shawn was wide awake and in the sitting room.

The truth was when he woke up, he went into the bathroom, searched everywhere for her but couldn't find her. And then recalled that he had put a tracker on her phone, he checked the location. That was why he had told someone to watch over his wife.

So when the email got to him and the voice recording he heard every single thing his wife was discussing and quickly ran into the bathroom to check and saw the pregnancy test kit.
