(Shall I look at where I will develop my Golden Core?)
With the piece of thought in mind, Chen Tu sat cross-legged near the window and gently closed his eyes. He maintained a calm and tranquil emotion throughout the process. In less than five minutes, he entered a meditating state.
A spiritual body was formed in his consciousness.
(This... Is this a spiritual body?)
Chen Tu was surprised. From what he knew, only those with potential could develop a spiritual body inside their consciousness to allow them to study their body better.
From the brain, Chen Tu controlled the spiritual body to travel along the blood vessel until he arrived at his heart. Chen Tu had the chance to inspect and monitor his heartbeat through this sliver of consciousness.
It was a miraculous experience. Drops of blood were produced from each heartbeat, allowing Chen Tu to see where they headed after entering the blood vessel.
Although he was the owner of this physical body, Chen Tu wondered how the drop of blood knew where to head next? Is there something telling them on a spiritual level?
His next destination is the lungs, which contract and retract with each breath.
Spiritual Energy was seen coming into his body in each breath and assimilated into his body. But perhaps due to his lack of understanding of this body, Chen Tu discovered nothing was indifferent about him.
His body remains the same even after he witnesses how Spiritual Energy is absorbed into his flesh, bone, and blood. Perhaps, there was a way to make his body capable of refining the Spiritual Energy, but he had yet to learn them.
The spiritual body continued traveling around Chen Tu's body, bringing him past the stomach, spleen, kidneys, and liver.
A while later, the spiritual body finally made a stop.
This place is likely the last part of his body and Chen Tu's destination. It was exceptionally large, almost to the point it could contain a mountain, river, trees, and life effortlessly.
The place also gave out a hint of mysterious power here, like something would develop as long it was given time and nourishment.
(Is this place where my core is located? Although nothing exists here now, it wouldn't be the same in the future...)
Chen Tu placed his hand in the air and tried to sense something.
(I remember that the young master once read about a book of insight left by an expert. In that book, it mentions that there is a separate world within the core of a cultivator. Was it recorded because the expert can form his spiritual body, similar to what I am doing now?)
Chen Tu was curious.
The curiosity also gave him a greater urge to learn how to read and write as soon as possible, to provide himself with the chance to study the records left by literate experts. Only with this could Chen Tu step firmly on his path of cultivation.
The Sun and Moon Essence appeared as Chen Tu was about to lose in his thoughts.
(The Sun and Moon Essence!!!)
Chen Tu was staring emotionally at the drop of Sun And Moon Essence, which is about the size of a soybean. His hand unconsciously reaches out to the treasure like a moth attracted to the light.
Upon contact, the protective barrier around the treasure shattered. This made the Sun and Moon Essence react wildly inside this space.
Flexible tendrils shot outwards until they stabbed into Chen Tu's flesh around his abdomen. Then, it expands, making Chen Tu's body around his core bulge like a pregnant woman. His body felt like it was going to rip apart if he allowed it to continue to grow.
(Aargh! Not good! What should I do?)
Chen Tu panicked. He immediately recites the Sun and Moon Condensation Art cycle and directs the energy throughout his body. Additionally, Chen Tu only had one choice as a cultivator at the first level of the Body Tempering Layer.
(Direct the Spiritual Energy bursting out to refine my flesh!)
Chen Tu immediately tried his best. The Spiritual Energy in his body was guided to all corners of his body. And under his approval, the Spiritual Energy attacked his flesh.
It was a painful and torturous process. After all, other people experience this process by using one to ten days' worth of Spiritual Energy to temper their flesh. But currently, Chen Tu is using a hundred days' worth of the same energy to refine his flesh.
If the others already had difficulty with ten days' worth of Spiritual Energy, what about Chen Tu then?
Having his flesh beaten by a hundred days' worth of Spiritual Energy is akin to seeking death. Still, this is the shortest and fastest way for Chen Tu to advance to the next level.
He clenched his teeth hard to remain awake throughout the entire process.
Through the refining process, Chen Tu's flesh undergoes a process of destruction and renewal. His flesh was initially dark red at the start, but it was now a hue lighter than before. Apparently, the darkness in his flesh was a sign of impurities.
A layer of filth gradually coated Chen Tu's skin as it got expelled from his body. And after a few hours, the impurities harden.
The process of tempering his flesh was finally over.
(How strong am I currently?)
Chen Tu tightened his fist and tried to circulate the Spiritual Energy in his body. The undulation of his power was stronger than before by twofold. It allows Chen Tu to immediately notice how strong he has become.
(It looks like I am officially promoted to the second level of the Body Tempering Layer...)
Chen Tu smiled happily but was quickly disturbed by the layer of hardened filth falling apart from his body. Chen Tu's skin tone was much fairer, with a hard-to-accept stench coming out from his body.
(I would be scolded to death by the others if I didn't clean up!)
Chen Tu immediately went to clean himself and changed into another set of clothing. Luckily, Chen Zigang includes two other sets of cloth in the bundle Chen Tu brought along.
The next morning, Chen Tu went straight to the Spiritual Garden after breakfast. To his surprise, his food capacity is much bigger compared to yesterday and the day yesterday!
Furthermore, this was after he had dinner last night.
"Good morning, senior brother Qin." Chen Tu greeted Qin Lei when it was his turn to receive the assignment for the day. Many newcomers had no idea that weed removal assignment was not the only job available in this Spiritual Garden. It was just a starter job to assess whether the disciples were qualified for other positions. Why would the management body for the Spiritual Garden hire the disciple for a more serious assignment if they can't even do the most basic job properly?Besides the weed removal position, one could also try to be hired to tend the Spiritual Herbs or reclaim the land for new gardens. Or they could also try to be selected as a harvester when the Spiritual Herbs achieved adulthood. The weed removal and harvester were temporary positions, while the tender and reclaimer were permanent. Their pay was about the same, except for the harvester post, which pays close to double in Contribution Tokens.Of course, only the very experienced disciple here could be hired for tha
Qin Lei's statement caught the attention of those seated with him. Looking at him raising the cup of tea, they cordially responded to his display of gratitude by raising the teacup in their hand.Tea replaced wine since not everyone here had reached the legal age to consume alcohol. On top of that, this was just a regular display of gratitude and nothing else.As a matter of fact, nobody here would have anything to say, even if Qin Lei decided not to say anything throughout the dinner. After all, everyone here was paid accordingly, depending on their effort today. Most of them were paid between five to eight Contribution Tokens, which means they're considered to be doing two days' workload in one day.It was also thanks to Qin Lei's reputation as one of the friendlier representatives here.Unlike the rest of the representatives with plenty of ideas to rob some benefit from their followers, Qin Lei was fair and unbiased in all matters. And thanks to this positive trait of his, he made
"Third Disciple Zigang greets the honorable master." the youth immediately kneeled a knee and delivered his greetings. This youth is none other than Chen Zigang, the one who left Crimson River Town four days ago.The grand elder reprimanded him, but the look of worry was not seen on Chen Zigang's face.He had a face full of smiles instead. After all, he had just arrived here with the grand elder. It was unavoidable for Chen Zigang to have a problem sleeping at night.Furthermore, from this place alone, it was already twice the size of Chen Manor. And this was just the specially arranged accommodation for the grand elder's third disciple. He had yet to see his other two senior brothers, but from what the grand elder shared, Chen Zigang knew both older brothers were at the level of Peak Golden Core Layer. All they need is a small push, and they'll likely advance to the realm of the Spiritual Sea Layer. The Spiritual Sea Layer was already in an unthinkable cultivation realm that far surp
Land reclamation was a slow and meticulous process, unlike the weed removal duty that heavily relies on your own speed. In the eyes of bystanders, this job was simply trying to develop the land and prepare the soil. In reality, it wasn't merely loosening the earth and planting seeds after they were plowed. The process involves a few major tasks, from removing the body of water that forms into puddles to removing solid obstacles around it. The manpower also had to be allocated to adjust the height of the land itself, irrigation, and water source. After that, there were still plenty of secondary tasks before they could move on to farming.Of course, Chen Tu and the others were not expected to accomplish everything in a single day. This reclamation project would take at least two to three months for this land to appear similar to one of the forty-two plots of the Spiritual Garden here.On a side note, one can see how much effort the Blood Refining Grotto had put into its Spiritual Garden
When it was his turn to be paid, the representative handed six Contribution Tokens to Chen Tu.Among the group of disciples here, only three individuals received a token extra from the rest. Naturally, that includes Chen Tu. This indicated that he wasn't the only one that caught Elder Wei Xuan's attention. It was considered quite a wake-up call to Chen Tu before he self-assumed that he had better potential than the others.Since he got paid, there's nothing else keeping Chen Tu here. Furthermore, he intended to visit the Book Pavilion later, and he should get ready to make his way over there. But with so many common weeds to haul over to his land, Chen Tu had no choice but to borrow a cart from the Spiritual Garden's Department and transport them in one go. That didn't take too much of Chen Tu's time to get everything done. After arranging them carefully, Chen Tu immediately made his way to the Book Pavilion.Sadly, he's still too late. With over ten thousand disciples in the Outer Gr
"Elder. Here's the bottle of Meadow Spring you've asked for." Chen Tu said with a pained heart.Unsure if the elder would've come down from the tree, he simply lifted his hand higher for the elder to reach.**Poof!**The bottle was gone from Chen Tu's hands, but he had not realized that."Ah... What a good wine. It is indeed the Meadow Spring Wine coming from Little Spring Town. Only the water there could produce such an exquisite taste from their brewery." the elder said.If he didn't smack his lips after a mouthful, Chen Tu would likely stay oblivious about the wine and its whereabouts. But as Chen Tu was about to ask the elder again to teach him, he was interrupted."How unfortunate." that single sentence was like a bucket of cold water poured onto Chen Tu.He had gotten what he asked for, tasted it, and showed his satisfaction. In that case, what was so unfortunate here?Chen Tu was slightly speechless while staring at the elder, who stayed where he was. The only difference betwee
The elder appeared to be standing firmly at the side of decency while making that statement. But at the same time, the noise from sipping and savoring the alcohol made every word he said seem to disagree."Bring me one more by tomorrow. If the wine quality was still the same today, then... Forget it. It's not like this old man is penniless to the point I couldn't buy my own alcohol." the elder turned around after saying what he had in mind.Similar to yesterday, he wouldn't respond after turning his head away. This signifies how lofty he was and unbearably proud of his accomplishments.Meanwhile, Chen Tu's face was gradually replaced by a sour expression. After all, he was consecutively rejected twice, and both after he delivered the wine over.At this moment, Chen Tu's unfavorable memory returned. It reminded him of the time Chen Zigang's older siblings bullied him for being an orphan. Is this the reality for a parentless child like him to suffer for being born into this world?Or, i
After a sip, the elder revealed an intoxicated expression and followed with another. He appeared to be satisfied with the wine this time."Continuously drinking three bottles of wine from a junior without giving out some reward is somewhat improper. Unfortunately, even I had no idea how long I'd been here for. There's nothing valuable in my pocket now." said the elder."How about coming back here tomorrow? I'll see what I can find from my collection of treasures and get something that helps in reading and writing, deal?" the elder continued. He sounded more sensible this time. This made Chen Tu feels that his effort and patience finally paid off. But the elder's following words made Chen Tu wish he could curse the elder on the spot."Since you're coming again anyway tomorrow, you might as well get me another bottle of wine on the way," he added. The elder image abruptly turned from sensible to shameless in one second.**FU*K!**Chen Tu cursed inside his mind. But regretfully, the elde
