Ruger's Cynicism

"Why are you warning me of this?" Constantine asked Ruger doubtfully.

"Shouldn't you be more than happy to lead me around the nose so I could bump into one of those of your friends who could help you take over my body? I don't think you're generous enough to consider my well-being by warning me like this."

Constantine was curious why Ruger would warn him about the dangers of relying solely on his memories to pave a way for himself and his family in the universe. From his understanding of Ruger, he wouldn't do anything unless it benefited him. Strictly speaking, the warning he gave to Constantine just now was unnecessary because it did not benefit Ruger in any way.

In response to Constantine's question, Ruger asked, "Why do you think, genius?"

"It's obviously because I can't go out having people seeing me in this state. What would people think if they find out that I, Ruger Whitebrook, a once in an eon son of the firmament, was in a miserable state?"
