16. Rules at 15th Day

Looking back, Xavier realized that his desperation to escape from his tiring life led him to the Fugito mansion.

‘All because of Jacob Hugh.’

He wasn’t blaming everything on him. But Jacob was a part of it.

That incident with Jacob was like an open book without an ending. It motivated Xavier to change his life, but at the same time, it put him on the edge of the blade.

After recalling the past on how Xavier met Cesar’s secretary in that alleyway, Xavier glanced at Jacob through the rear mirror of the car.

‘Did the heaven punish me for leaving our book unfinished without the tragic ending?’ Xavier asked himself.

He always regretted his decision to be the Fugito family’s driver. Yet, when he saw Jacob again, Xavier thought that there might be reasons why things turned out like this. Perhaps, he was destined to be the Mafia boss for a short time in order to avenge all the injustice he and his family received from the past.

It was a silly thought, but Xavier was ready to justify it.
