35. Manipulation

Being Mayor is the best political job, they said. You can get things done and make things happen. And that is what Cesar aimed for.

But it was a tough path. Cesar had to win over the city’s residents, launch his own campaign and stay within regulations to qualify as a candidate. Fortunately, there are people who started to support the third in rank candidate.

Some were paid. Others were forced by their employers. And they were also people who really believed that Cesar is the kind Samaritan just like what they heard.

In the town square where the loud sound of the campaign theme song was played, the crowd gathered while chanting a name.

“Cesar! Cesar! Cesar!”

Cesar raised his hand to signal everyone to stop. When the noises subsided, Cesar began his speech.

“Good day, everyone! Thank you for coming here! It is really an honor to be part of this election. At this moment, we have an amazing opportunity to transform New York into the more gleaming and Charming place it is destined to be!
