8. Aslan and Debby

Aslan was wrong, Debby became more moody at the bookstore. The girl even bumped into someone because she wasn't focused.

"I'm sorry," Debby said.

"You use your eyes when you walk! Not only you already fat, you don't have eyes too!" The woman who Debby hit looked very angry, and her friend looked at Debby with an annoyed look too.

Even though no one was injured from the incident, no items fell either, just a small nudge.

"I apologize," Debby said again, like she was going to cry. So, Aslan left the book he wanted to look at, then approached Debby.

"She apologized, why are you still angry?" Asked Aslan, he pulled Debby behind his body.

"Are you her boyfriend? Tell your girlfriend not to stand carelessly, her body is big like a bulldozer, ignorance has its limits!" Said the friend of the woman who was hit by Debby. Both women looked like college students, they looked fashionable and wore the cheapest branded goods.

The one Debby hit was a blonde, while her friend was a brunette.

The blonde showed a bag from the Zera brand, about 50 dollars. It was a famous brand that was still quite affordable.

"Do you see my expensive bag? Poor kids like you can't understand, it cost 100 dollars! Now scuffed up by that bulldozer, how can you pay for it now?"

"You have to beg under the bridge first, then you can have 100 dollars, right?" Said the brunette.

Aslan, who was too lazy to respond to them, took out a 100 dollar bill, "That's cheap, isn't it? Although I know that the bag has been scuffed since you came to this shop, but I will give this for free, do you know the elite palm beach housing? My girlfriend who you called bulldozers has a house there, she can even buy your pride, go away!"

The two annoying women took Aslan's 100 dollar bill and left.

Aslan turned to look at Debby, he was very worried, Debby's face was no longer cheerful, it was very depressed.

"Debby, are you okay? Let's sit down first."

Aslan led Debby to a chair provided by the store for customers.

"Aslan, I'll give you back your money, how much was it?" Debby asked.

"No need, don't think about it, are you okay?"

Debby shook her head, "I have to pay for it, you don't have much money, you've also left the orphanage, you need a lot of money."

"Okay, you have to pay, but not with money," Aslan said, then he pulled Debby's chin with his index finger and thumb, so that Debby looked up at him.

"If not money then what? A job?"

Aslan shook his head, "Not really, but with your smile, you haven't smiled since you heard what the girls in class said. Come on, don't listen to them, you're beautiful just the way you are."

"No Aslan, they're right, I need to diet from now on."

"But you've been trying all this time, Debby, you remember how you used to diet and exercise but you ended up in the hospital?"

Debby pulled her face away from Aslan, looking in another direction, anywhere that wasn't Aslan's handsome face.

"That's probably because I wasn't consistent enough, I'll be more consistent from now on. I want to be beautiful, so I deserve to hang out with you."

"But to me you're already -"

"Enough Aslan! You say I'm beautiful because you pity me, right? I'm fat and ugly! The only thing I have is my family fortune, and even then you always refuse if I give you a favor, you want me to believe that I'm beautiful? I'm ugly!"

Aslan, who was annoyed by Debby's words, grabbed both of the girl's shoulders.

"Debby listen to me, I don't pity you! You're beautiful in my eyes, but if you don't believe me that's fine. Aren't we together because we have a lot in common? We like reading books, we like fantasy stories, we like studying, we have a lot of compatibility because of that I'm comfortable with you. I like you just the way you are."

"Liar, you only like me as a friend, you never care about my feelings that have grown into other feelings. I understand, you won't be able to accept my love, you're handsome and smart, I'm just a rich fat girl of no value."

Aslan sighed tiredly, Debby was very difficult to advise, her insecurities were already very big. It was all thanks to the constant bullying she received. Aslan couldn't help much because he was just the same, bullied.

Even though he now had a system, Aslan realized that he was still weak.

"You're worth it in my eyes, how many times do I have to tell you that? I like you just the way you are."

"Liar! You'd be disgusted to sleep with me too, right?"

Aslan was silent at Debby's words. Where did Debby come up with that conclusion?

But, then Aslan fell silent. Did he really like Debby like that, and not as a friend? Aslan didn't know either. All this time he was only focused on studying, the orphanage, and others.

There's not much time to think about love.

But as they say, there is no friendship between a man and a woman, one of them must be harboring love. And that saying was proven in the case of Aslan and Debby, because Debby liked him first.

Without Aslan realizing it, Debby had left him, crying.

Aslan felt like a coward for letting her go like that.

"What's the system? I can't make the girl I love happy. I'm sorry, Debby, I'm so weak."

Aslan went home after buying all the books he wanted. When Devon arrived at the dormitory, he saw the sluggish Aslan, so he pulled Aslan and looked at all Aslan's purchases.

"Wow, you bought a lot of books! These are business books, do you really want to make a business, man? Hey, what's wrong?"

Aslan looked at Devon with a languid gaze, leaving Devon confused.

"I'm such a coward, I'm weak too."

"Huh? What are you talking about? Come tell me what's going on?"

Aslan bowed his head, then began to tell the story of Debby.

"So you already have a girlfriend? You Traitor!"

Aslan chuckled in annoyance because after all he'd said, that was Devon's only conclusion. So, Aslan picked up a couch cushion and slapped it at Devon.

"I mean it!"

Devon laughed loudly at the annoyed look on Aslan's face.

"Okay, you're serious... just go to her and talk it over. My mom needs to be persuaded by my dad when she's grumpy. Usually, when she gets a present, she's happy."

Aslan nodded in understanding, maybe Debby needed time. He'd talk to her tomorrow at school, maybe give her a small gift too.

"Thanks for the advice, buddy!"

"Okay okay, now cook something, I'm hungry" Devon pleaded hungrily, making Aslan couldn't stand it and hit him again.

"Come on, you're cooking good! Please!" Devon pleaded again.

"Haah, okay."
