It has been three days and Angus hasn't heard from Matilda, not even to thank him for taking her home the other night. It's very unlike her, Matilda is a very grateful person. He decides to call her phone, but his calls keep going straight to voicemail. His heart immediately starts to face, is she okay? What has her crazy boyfriend done this time around? He knows that her boyfriend, Greg, doesn't like him being around Matilda, but he decides to risk it. All he wants is for him to know that she is okay. He picks up his keys and gets into his car. He doesn't care what will happen, he is going to come back right home when he sees she is okay with his own eyes. He drives carefully till he gets to his house. His heart sinks even deeper when he sees Greg's car parked out front. Still, he turns off his car and walks to the front door. He raises his hand and knocks on the door, firmly beating against the door. The door opens and Greg looks down at him. "Angus Knighton, you have some
Ashley is taking her bath. She spends longer time in the bathroom than she usually does, but it's not because she wants to tend more to her body, but because she wants to drink. Each time the water drips down the drain, she drifts into thoughts. Her conversation with Mrs. Goldwater comes up in her head again and again. She has to do this, she knows that she doesn't have another choice. Mrs. Goldwater is right. If Quinton had wanted to save her from going to prison, he would have fought for the money, but he is not doing that. If she wants to avoid jail, she has to fight for herself, she has to do what Mrs. Goldwater has asked of her. With that in her mind, she turns off the faucet and grabs a towel. She doesn't look at him, but she knows that he is looking at her. She wraps it around herself as she goes back to the room. Quinton has changed out of his office clothes, he is wearing pajama bottoms and he is going to bed. She sits in front of the mirror and starts her night r
Ashley has a lot of hope in herself when she walks into the office of the man, Mister Lorenzo. The office is magnificent, she can tell that this man is powerful, even though he is just an assistant. She should be equal to the task. She has had men in her palm since the day she hit puberty, this shouldn't be too hard for her. That changes when she comes face to face with Lorenzo. It seems that the very moment that she set her eyes on the man, the braveness left her body. His swift eyes scare her like he has seen lots of beautiful women and might not think too much of her. "Yes?" He looks up. "Mrs Goldwater, I suppose, how may I help you?" "Hello, sir…" "Sit, please." Oh, he is offering her a seat! Maybe this is a sign from God that her mission is going to be successful. "Thank you." She lets herself sit down. She wants to stop herself from looking around, but this is a very beautiful office. "Mrs Goldwater?" He raises his eyebrow. "I'm afraid, the only Goldwaters are from t
Angus is satisfied, surely it's a good thing that he has done for Ashley even though she sure as hell doesn't deserve it. He takes a long sigh as he heads back into the building. He suddenly bumps into someone with the same height as him. "Sorry, man, my bad." The person apologized. "No problem." Angus looks up and is startled. The person he has bumped into is no other than the man he met in the club, Christian Webster. "Goodness, it's you, my friend." Mister Christian laughs. "What a pleasant surprise." They immediately shake hands, they look delighted – like two long-lost friends. "How are you doing, man?" Angus asks. "I'm sorry, but I have to admit that I have forgotten about you." "And I have taken no offense in that." Christian waves off. "We are both busy men, why are we going to blame that on one another?" Even though their meeting is pure coincidence, Angus is happy to finally meet him again. Christian Webster is dressed as fashionable as the first day Angus sees hi
Ashley pulls her eyebrows together. "Wha– what?" "You don't have to spend a single penny, Ashley. I don't know what touched Angus or the anonymous person who paid off your debts, but it's a miracle indeed." Ashley is not religious, she doesn't believe in mere coincidence or miracles. This is not an anonymous savior, this is someone that she knows, but the person doesn't want to be known. "Ashley, are you there?" She quickly brings herself out of the deep thoughts that are raging in her heart. "Yes, yes, I'm here." "Or perhaps it's your husband, Quinton that paid it off. I told you that you were worrying yourself because he was nonchalant, but look what he has done for you." "Yes, of course, Tyler. It has to be Quinton." She laughs. "I better go and prepare him a heavy meal to thank him for this." "Alright, Ashley. Have a nice day." She ends the call immediately. She chews her lower lip as she walks around the place, trying to make sense out of everything that has happened
Angus visits his grandfather again. This is the first time that he is visiting after the "fight" they had. His father ordered him to dump the company and also cut ties with Matilda, but he has returned now that he has found a way around it. He drives his car smoothly into the parking space where he leaves his vehicle. He takes out the key and walks to the front door. It's opened by a servant even before he gets a chance to knock on the door. "Good afternoon, Young Master." The young man bows. "Thank you, good day." Angus returns the greeting. He walks into the house and looks around the place. His mother hasn't descended the stairs to greet him, like she does whenever he visits, where is she? "My mother, where is she?" He asks the servant. "The Mistress has gone to spend a few hours in the park. She said that she misses going out." "I see," Angus says. "And the Master?" "Right behind you, son." Angus feels chills. He turns around to see his grandfather behind him, with a
Angus is leaving after lunch, his mother isn't back yet. Joanna offered to escort her to her car. As they are leaving, Lorenzo comes out of the house too. He walks past them with nothing more than a glance. "Young Master, Miss Joanna." He walks away. He gets into his car and drives very fast down the lane. Joanna is staring down the road that he went, her hands are folded. "Is something going on between you and Lorenzo?" Angus asks her. "Nah, he is just too much of a snobbish dick." She shrugs. "Besides, your grandfather forbids it." "The man is such a killjoy," Angus mutters. She is leaning against the car while Angus is watching her. His eyes are piercing, like he is searching for something deep inside her soul. "Oh, God, don't tell me that you are doing this because of the number of people I have killed." She rolls her eyes. He laughs as he drops his head into his hand. "That's not it, but I do have something I want to discuss with you." He says. "Do you want to go for
It's a surprise that one day Matilda is bedridden and covered in a blanket of sadness and depression, but the next, she is on her feet all happy and gleeful. It's mainly because, somehow, Angus has found the solution to their problem. It was a very selfless move from him that he sold his shares to support the business, she is going to be grateful to him for the rest of her life. She puts her stuff back into her work bag. She doesn't forget her laptop and also her phone. She is going to have breakfast with Angus at a restaurant. Just a small discussion over breakfast as they return back to work. She picks up her bag and takes one good at her immaculate self in the mirror before she steps out of the house. She walks out of the room and heads downstairs, she finds Greg having breakfast all by himself. "Hi, babe." She kisses him. He turns around and smiles at her as he kisses her back. "It's good to see you back on your feet." He nods. "It's such a miracle how the tax problem wa
