Angus can't believe that this is happening to him, he can't believe that Ashley wants to leave their marriage.

He is hurt, he feels like his heart is being ripped out of his chest, but he manages to keep his face straight.

He exhales as he looks up at Ashley, she has her hands folded and doesn't have any emotion on her face.

"What's this?" He asks her, raising the papers. "What do you want?"

"Are you daft or something?! Don't you understand?! I want a divorce!" She screams in his face.

He isn't fazed a bit, he is used to his wife being mean to him all the time.

"But why?" He asks again. "I thought we were in love and happy?"

"Happy?" She snorts. "How can we be happy when all you ever care about is your mother?! You use all your money to save her when you should be spending on me!"

Angus feels as if he should blast the hell out of her with his words, he can't believe that she is comparing his mother's health with her luxury wants.

Even though he is very angry at her, he controls himself immediately.

There is a stranger here and also, her parents are here. Even though they don't have any respect for him, he has the utmost respect for them as his in-laws.

He manages to muster a smile as he looks at them, they aren't looking at him with very kind eyes.

"Sir and ma'am, do you hear what your daughter said? Are you having the same thoughts as her?"

The mother was the first to grunt loudly in distaste as she leans forward.

"What do you think?" She snaps. "You think we are happy seeing our daughter suffer every day and night in this hell of a marriage?!"

Ashley's father is not any better.

"Look, I am not going to mince words with you." He says. "When you came to marry Ashley, you promised to take good care of her, but it has been a year now and she has been suffering."

Angus drops his hand into his head, he can't believe what he is hearing.

"I work multiple jobs, just to make sure that Ashley has her necessities," Angus says with pain. "And what do I have in return? She has given me a letter for divorce."

Ashley's father waves it off immediately.

"All these pity words won't work on us." He tells him. "Mister Quinton wants to marry Ashley now, he is going to be more fit to be a good son-in-law to us. He isn't poor like you, he is going to buy Ashley's brother a house, something you can't do."

The man laughs, his shoulders shaking. Angus can see the mockery on his face.

"That's true. The only reason why Ashley and I haven't gotten married is because you need to divorce her first." He says. "Do not be sad, you don't deserve a beautiful girl like Ashley, just leave her."

Angus feels his chest tighten in anger, he can't believe that Ashley and her family, people that he has sacrificed so much for, are turning their back on him.

But even though Angus is disappointed, he is also relieved to find out the type of people his wife and her parents are.

It's fate that they have shown their true colors when he just discovered that he is from a super rich family.

He tightens his jaw and keeps his head high, he is not going to let them see just how much hurt they have caused him.

"Fine, she wants a divorce, I will give you a divorce."

Believe it or not, Ashley's parents squeak and give each other a big hug, Ashley also has a triumphant smile on her face.

"Just so you know, you can't get anything out of my parents' wealth." She warns him. "Not after you still owe them a thousand dollars that you borrowed to get your mother drugs."

"I will get to work soon and I will have the money." He replies.

"Also, you can't have a house." Ashley looks around. "It's not a good house, but that should be the least I get out of you after this traumatic marriage."

"Take everything, Ashley, I don't care." He says. "I will also give you and your parents every single thing that was given to me by them during our courtship and marriage."

Ashley looks at her parents and they all nod, they feel like it's a good thing they have done.

She has left her useless husband and he doesn't even have anything else to take with him.

"But, I have one condition." He says.

"What's it?" She shrugs.

"You shouldn't come back to ask me for anything afterward, nothing from me."

She throws her head back and laughs, clapping her hands.

"And what is it that I would want from you?" She hiss. "You don't even have a car and your clothes are rags."

"Just promise me, Ashley, that you won't ask anything from me."

"Of course, I won't!" She answers. "There isn't anything to ask for!"

Angus nods in satisfaction, she doesn't know this, but he has recorded her promise with his phone, just for use in the future.

She has no idea that she is going to regret this very soon, she and her parents will regret this day very soon.

Her parents are happily talking to themselves, Angus is very sure that they are already planning Ashley's next wedding.

Angus knows that it's time to go, so he stands up.

He doesn't have anything of importance in the house so he is probably going to come on a day she isn't home and pick up his few belongings.

But for now, he is heading towards the exit without a word to anyone.

Ashley is behind him, but he doesn't even turn to look at her.

"How does it feel now to have nothing else in this world?" She mocks him.

"I have no idea what you are talking about." He walks out through the door, turning around to face her.

"What other things do you own now? A dying mother?"

At that instance, Angus decides that enough is enough.

He walks back into the house and looks at all of them in the eyes.

They don't know it yet, but he has make up his mind already.
