One million dollars? Angus has never seen such an amount of money in his life and neither has he ever been told to spend one million dollars in a day.

So Angus leaves his grandfather's house with a blank head. Here is a card without limit, but he doesn't know what to do with it.

Maybe he should get a better house, a bigger one, yes that would be nice. And maybe a car too, a brand new one.

Ashley has always talked about how she felt like the walls of the house were caving down on her even though it's just two of them, a new house will do them good.

But is it even a good idea to do anything nice for Ashley? She wished that his mother died, she took her surgery money and bought herself a freaking dress.

His steps feel even heavy as he walks down the road to get to a taxi, he is having mixed feelings about this.

Finally, when he gets to the road to get a taxi, his phone rings in his pocket.

When he takes it out, he looks at it to find out that it's his wife calling. He has been so busy with his mother's health that he didn't even call Ashley even once.

He quickly swipes the answer icon and places it against his ear.

"Ashley?"

"Oh, he is not dead!" She shouts. "I thought you were because that's the only reasonable reason why I shouldn't have heard from you for a whole day!"

Angus rubs his closed eyes, he feels a headache coming.

"Ashley, you can't even do about my mother–"

"Oh, Angus, you know that I don't give a fuck about your old sick mother!" She rudely says. "Just get your ass back to the house, I have something important to tell you!"

She ends the call before he has the chance to say anything else to him.

Angus looks at the blank screen of the phone, he can't believe that his wife can be this wicked towards his mother.

How is it that he fell in love with a woman like this? A woman that has lower than zero regard for his mother.

He sighs and waves for a taxi, he gets one almost immediately and he gives the driver the address to his house.

It's a fairly long trip, he has to go from the outskirts, where his grandfather lives, back to the heart of town.

When he gets to his house, he pays for the taxi and walks quickly to the door. He stops when he sees a white expensive car in front of him.

Is there a stranger in his house? Who is this visitor that has come? Was something wrong with Ashley?

He hurries even faster to the door, he unlocks it to find Ashley, her father, her mother, and a strange man in an expensive suit.

"What happened here, Ashley?" He questions, looking at everyone in the room.

"What's happened here?!" Ashley barks. "I told you to come here faster, why did you take so long?! Mister Quinton was already getting impatient."

Angus can't even comprehend what's happening here, but he does well to cover his cluelessness with a smile on his face.

"Hello, mum and dad, sorry I wasn't home when you arrived." He greets his in-laws with respect.

His mother-in-law sneers bitterly. It's nothing new, but he didn't think they would do that in front of the visitor.

"How many times have I asked you to stop referring to me as if I am your mother?!" She snaps. "the fact that you married your daughter doesn't mean we gave birth to you!"

Ashley smiles, she likes it when her parents are fully behind her back.

Angus feels hurt, all he has been is nice to Ashley and her parents, but they have gone out of their way to be mean to him.

Angus calmly sits down, his eyes falling on the strange man sitting comfortably in his house.

He doesn't know who this Mister Quinton is, he has never seen him before in his life.

Even though Mister Quinton looks every inch of intimidation, Angus keeps his face blank.

"May I ask what you are doing in my house, Mister Quinton?" He asks. "And how did you know my wife?"

Mister Quinton stands up with a chuckle and looks at Angus from his head to his toes.

"First of all, let's start with your shoes and clothes, man." He laughs. "where did you get that cheap garbage from? The hobo store?!"

Ashley and her parents laugh at his joke, Angus can't believe that they would laugh at someone making such a mean joke at him.

He still clearly remembers sacrificing so much for them, he remembers driving her mother to the hospital in the middle of a rainy night.

Or how he had to borrow money to pay for her hospital bill too.

Now they sit there and laugh at him with this strange man that David has never seen.

Angus looks away, brushing off the sadness, he is not going to let them get to him so easily.

"Is that why you come here?" Angus snorts. "To make fun of my clothes and shoes? Don't you have anything to do?"

The man brushes his finger against his nose as he looks at Angus.

"You are right, I have better things to do." He nods. "Like to give you this!"

He throws a brown envelope at Angus so roughly that it hits Angus in the face before falling on his lap.

Angus is mad, but he pushes his tongue against the side of his mouth and breathes out his anger.

He picks up the envelope and tears it open, wondering what's inside of it.

Angus takes out some sheets of paper that have been stapled together, he doesn't need to read much because of a bold heading in thick letters.

"Divorce agreement." As what's written on the top of the paper, Ashley is asking him for a divorce.
