Agnes' Parents' Harsh Treatment of Ace

In an empty warehouse, there was a man who suffered greatly from his ambition. Even though he asked the parents of the woman he loved for their most sincere blessing, they still opposed his marriage to their daughter.

Ace Barnes, a man who was orphaned and had one brother who was mentally ill. Ace, who works as a psychiatric nurse, is looked down upon by the Lay family, owners of the largest Electronics company in the country. They couldn't accept their daughter who was a lawyer marrying a lowly nurse, who only lived with the insane in the hospital.

" Dad... Please stop," he whispered.

Dallen Dariel Lay did not hear his. He kept stepping on Ace's left foot and twisting it, hitting Ace's head with a golf club, slapping him, pouring water over his scarred and bleeding face. Now he was helpless. His body was broken, his blood wouldn't stop coming out, and his heart was broken. He always had no energy when he met the Lay family. He always thought of Agnes, Lay's current girlfriend. If he fought Agnes' parents, then he would have broken Agnes' heart, and Ace didn't want that to happen.

"You have to stop, asshole! I will not approve of your marriage! What will happen to my future, if my daughter marries a poor man?!" snapped Dallen. He was getting more and more brutal now, the cane swinging higher and higher until Ace could barely breathe.

"Do you think that Agnes is an investment?! She's a child who grew up with a lot of trauma, because from a young age you always beat her and demanded that she be perfect! That's not how you raise a child-"

"What do you know about my daughter?! I've known Agnes longer than you, poor guy!" Dallen interrupted Ace's words. Dallen kept hitting Ace's body to shut him up.

The middle-aged man with white hair color was the CEO of a wealth-crazed DE company. He always did dirty things to benefit his business. He even plans to marry Agnes off to the son of another company. There is no room for Agnes to choose her life. The freedom that Agnes is looking for is just wishful thinking.

Ace wanted to help Agnes get over her trauma, Ace wanted to give Agnes the life she wanted, but their obstacle was Agnes' parents. The requirements to marry Agnes were too tough. He could have worked in a big company as he was quite accomplished and had good skills.

However, Ace chose to become a psychiatric nurse. He wanted to accompany Felix, who was his brother with a mental illness. If there was no Ace, who would accompany Felix? He thought. Ace also loved Agnes very much. In fact, the more Ace knew how Agnes had survived until now, the more Ace didn't want to leave her. He forgot about the pain in his body now. He realized that the two people he loved the most had to be saved immediately.

"Honey, I think that's enough. Let's just drop him from this floor. When he dies, we will have no criminal record. Agnes will marry Brian and we will win," said Emily Giselle Lay, Agnes' cruel mother. She smiled then leaned close to Ace's ear and whispered, "A just life doesn't exist. Ambition is just nonsense. If your life is short of money, then be prepared for suffering. But you must remember, there is someone who wants to rescue you from that suffering and that is me."

Ace's body was already tied up. He couldn't walk. He also couldn't blink his eyes due to the severe injuries. With stinging lips, he forced himself to speak to Emilly.

"What are you saying?!" asked Ace angrily.

"Death, of course. Only death can free you from suffering, Ace," she replied.

Ace widened his eyes. He shouldn't have been surprised that he would be killed. He just wasn't ready to leave his brother and Agnes. Ace was a kind-hearted boy and his life was full of suffering, never complaining much. It would be a shame, if he died in vain like this. Ace was afraid, after his death, who could protect Agnes, get her out of Hell? He thought at this moment.

Ace shed tears in front of Dallen and Emily. They thought that Ace was scared about what they would do to Ace. No, Ace thought that the ones in danger were Agnes and Felix. This poor boy, even in the midst of danger, was thinking of others.

Emily and Dallen lifted Ace's body in front of the glassless window. They intended to drop Ace here. But the sound of fast footsteps was heard by them. Ace and the others looked back.

"Let him go!" shouted the young girl with the all-black suit and long hair. She was Agnes Brianna Lay, the daughter of Dallen and Emily.

Agnes grabbed her lover's body and hugged her. The girl was crying so hard. In fact, Agnes' parents had just found out that such a graceful and dignified girl could cry this loudly.

Meanwhile, Dallen was disappointed in Agnes. He didn't like it when women cried even to this extent. In his opinion, it was a disgrace. His daughter should be molded into a smart, graceful, resilient girl who never cried. Dallen wanted Agnes to be perfect, without weakness. Dallen was the devil.

"Agnes, what are you doing here? This is supposed to be your date with Brian!" Emily was furious with Agnes. She had planned her daughter's meeting with Brian, but Agnes had gone here instead.

Dallen pulled her daughter's hand hard. Agnes' wrist was red. Dallen also slapped Agnes mercilessly. Several times, just like Dallen did to Ace.

"You useless child.  I prepared a good future for you, but you went to this poor man!"

This was something Agnes was used to. A slap from her father was something she could endure, rather than marrying someone she never loved. Bad things like being poured with cold water, locked in the bathroom or in the basement, Agnes was ready for it all.

"Dad, please, don't kill Ace. I'm going to marry Brian, so let Ace live," Agnes pleaded. She begged while enduring the pain all over her body. Blue bruises were visible now.

Dallen stopped hurting Agnes and Ace. Instead, he called the secretary to bring Dallen's bodyguards here. Meanwhile, Ace was shocked by Agnes' words to her father. Yes, Ace could understand now. No matter how hard he tried to protect Agnes, Agnes' parents were more powerful than Ace. Now, Ace didn't know anything. He was frozen.
