Press Conference

Today was Agnes' funeral. At Lay's residence, journalists had been waiting outside the house since dawn. They were willing to camp on the side of the road just to get clear information. Although they knew that Dallen would be holding a press conference later in the afternoon, the stubborn reporters wanted to see Agnes now.

Agnes is active on social media, so journalists and outsiders alike know that Agnes has a kind and fun personality. Not only reporters, but art lovers also came to Lay's residence. Agnes is a lawyer because her father told her to. Although she wanted to be a famous painter and singer. But she managed to share a bit of her talent on social media.

A perfect woman like Agnes died, like a dream for someone who truly loved her.

A white car was seen putting the coffin inside. Some reporters saw it and immediately took pictures with sobs.

"Agnes, I want to see you live longer!"

"The Lay family had a great and generous daughter!"

"What a pity, she was going to get married this year to the son of a famous company owner."

That's what they said when Agnes' body was covered by the white casket.

"Journalists, please don't follow us. This is a private funeral," Secretary Dallen said.

The reporters were blocked by bodyguards. Dallen's family, meanwhile, went to the Lay family cemetery. Agnes would be buried near her grandmother and grandfather.

When they arrived at the cemetery, Agnes was immediately buried. Everyone cried at Agnes' departure. But there was a fake cry here. It was Dallen. He wiped some of his tears that looked real, but it wasn't sadness.

"My daughter, does it hurt? You should have heard Mom not to deal with Ace! He killed you, even though you loved him so much. You're too good, my child."

Emily cried in front of her son's gravestone. She regretted what she had done to Ace. She thought, if she had killed Ace sooner, then her daughter wouldn't be like this. At least, Emily had a little compassion for her daughter compared to Dallen who only cared about himself.

Everyone at the funeral was thinking the same thing about Ace. They hated him equally.

"I'm sorry, Agnes. I failed to protect you," Brian said next to Agnes' gravestone. He is the man Agnes will marry this year. Although it's just a business marriage, Brian loves Agnes very sincerely.

"I'm sorry honey, if I wasn't a little lax with Ace," Dallen said to his wife. "I'm going to the press conference now. At the very least, the whole world should know," he continued.

Dallen went with his secretary and bodyguard. Of course, this was Dallen's new weapon. He would not lose his business if his daughter died. Brian's good parents would also still cooperate with him. Dallen would use his daughter's name to beg Brian. Dallen knew that Brian loved Agnes very much.

Now, in a closed room where only Dallen was present. His secretary was outside to give a few words to the reporters to calm them down, while what Dallen was doing right now in that room was dripping eye drops. Yes, he had to look like he was crying on stage. That way, people would pity him.

KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!

"Sir, the reporters are waiting," said his secretary, Barnard.

Dallen walked out of the room and onto the stage with her clothes and hair deliberately messed up. He had also rubbed his eyes several times to make them look red. Before speaking, Dallen pretended to cry like a baby. The sound of Dallen crying made the journalists sad.

The journalists started writing things down on their papers and laptops.

"Agnes' departure made her father, who is a famous CEO in this country, appear to be a mess."

"CEO Dallen cried before saying something to the reporters."

"Dallen is a charismatic CEO, but he's also a father."

All reporters, fall into Dallen's trap.

"Ugh, I'm sorry. I'm very sad today. Barnard, can you take my place?" Dallen asked his secretary.

In the end, Barnard stood in for Dallen and said that Agnes died because she was killed by her ex-boyfriend. Barnard did not mention Ace's name at this press conference. Furthermore, Barnard also said that Agnes' lover was Brian. Agnes and Brian's marriage was unacceptable to her ex-boyfriend so he killed Agnes and committed suicide.

"It was really cruel treatment. How could he kill Agnes?"

All the reporters were shocked to hear that. Some of them asked about who the murderer was, but Dallen and Barnard were reluctant to answer.

"Then, what are you going to do after this? Do you want to take revenge on the murderer's family? Or do you want to ask for compensation for your daughter's death?" asked a female reporter who spoke very loudly.

Dallen came forward and replaced Barnard to speak. "I am deeply saddened by my daughter's death. But, I don't want to ask for compensation or revenge. I am afraid that my daughter will not go in peace. The parents of my daughter's killer must not know anything either, so I won't demand anything," he replied with a pained look on his face.

"He's a person with a big heart. What a kind-hearted man," said a reporter sitting in the front row. The other reporters also nodded in agreement that Dallen was a good person.

The press conference was over. Dallen went to his home. He received a lot of prayers and support from the journalists, as well as from social media. Dallen was very happy today. Although he was very tired from acting all the time. Dallen was more confident that he could do anything he wanted.

"I win. No one can beat me," Dallen said in his heart.

Then, after the day of the press conference, Dallen continued this act. He pretended to sleep alone without wanting anyone's company, pretending not to eat. He also took four days off and he also pretended that he didn't want to see anyone, not even Brian and his parents. For now, she wanted to look the most miserable and need nothing but her daughter.

Everyone believed Dallen's acting. All the servants in his house were also very worried about Dallen's condition. Every day for five times, they knocked on Dallen's room door to offer food, but Dallen managed to refuse. The servants didn't know that Dallen was still eating the biscuits he had in his room. It was impossible for Dallen to not eat because of this.

In the infirmary...

A man was lying on a patient's bed, with an electrocardiogram

attached to his bare chest and a breathing machine attached to his nose and mouth. The man had apparently opened his eyes earlier. He was now watching the news showing Dallen's press conference.

"Ace, did you see it?"
