“Danvers, dump the trash!”

Two women sat comfortably on the sufa, with glasses of wine, having just had their nails polished. From a distance, anyone could see that these two beauties exuded an air of unique charm and class unable to resist. Among these two beauties was Danvers' wife Rhina and her friend.

Danvers' tried watching the TV series on the screen, but upon his wife's glare, he quickly rushed to pick up the trash. He dare not utter a word.After all, he was the live-in son-in-law of the Debby family. Even after four years of marriage, he still did not have a place in the family. Even a pet had a higher standard in the home than he did. His wife and family will not hesitate to bellow at him at the least chance they get.

“Why are you coming back now?”

" I am sorry, I thought I came back early today!"

A slap landed on his chick.

" How foolish can you be? I am asking why you were so quick and you are busy spilling rubbish”

He placed his hand on his chick,gritted his teeth in pain and fuming with anger, but he gulped it down.

“Will you answer me before I lose it?" She screamed.

“I used my electric bike so I could come back on time for other duties".

" I knew it! You weakling, you are just an asshole, do not expect another battery until the end of the month. I don't care how you manage it."

" Do you think I am a child or that submissive woman your gender dominates over?”

She spat on him with disgust, Danvers wiped the saliva fuming in anger but he couldn't do anything otherwise he would end up in the streets like he did four years ago after his family rejected him. He was rejected and deprived of his inheritance and accused of mismanagement and embezzlement of the company's funds.

The help he rendered to Lord Debby in the middle of nowhere made way for him as he married off his granddaughter to Danvers. Lord Debby had recognized Danvers and knew of his true identity. This made Lord Debby give Danvers the very best of his household.

Danvers and Rhina have been married now for four years but that was just a mere camouflage. They were yet to consummate their marriage. He even slept on the floor. He had never felt how Rhina's hands filt until earlier today.

That was the first time someone ever laid a finger on him. But that didn't matter to him. He swallowed hard and apologized but he was still punished to kneel until noon.

“The entire family wants me to divorce you, but I don't think that's important at the moment, you are not all that useless but useful in cooking, cleaning, laundry and doing other things”

She rolled her eyes mockingly.

“Ensure you prepare dinner and serve it on time,be useful with your life, I kept you for this course and not to be staring at your useless self”

She instructed and turned to leave, while leaving, she pushed him if not for the male stamina in him, he could have fallen down.

Fear gripped him as he knew his allowance was at stake. Each time Rhina had one complaint against Danvers, that would cost him his allowance of 100 dollars everyday for two weeks. And there is nothing he could do about it.

“I have been walking to and from the store for over two weeks now due to my inability to buy a new battery for my bike not until yesterday and now this?” he lamented.

For the past two weeks he has been walking to and from wherever he was sent and was not allowed to take anything from the kitchen until he proves that he could provide his drinking water.

“You stupid jerk, set the table quickly, it's almost past my dinner time.” His mother-in-law boest out angrily after meeting an empty table.

He has always been scared of his mother-in-law as she seizes the least opportunity to unleash her anger on him. As he placed the bowl of food on the table, Sophie, Rhina's sister jumped up from her seat and rushed to the table.

“OMG uncle Danvers you actually remembered to prepare my favorite as I requested thank you”

she said with joy written all over her face.

“You are welcome Sophie, you can count on me anytime”

" I don't like the way mum and my sister treat you. Why can't you join us at the table?”

Sophie whispered into his ears.

“Don't worry I am ok all… "

He had barely finished his statement when his mother-in-law banged the table making him quiver in fear causing a portion of food to spill.

“You shameless ingrete,what are you telling my daughter? Are you trying to turn her against us?

“No no mom I didn't say anything to her!"

" I am not your mother you fool, I can never be a mother to a worthless human like yourself, never you call me that again"

She replied and poured the leftover food on his head.

“You'd have sent Sophia out of here before doing this to him, mom.”

When he heard Rhina say such words, Joy filled his heart thinking that For the first time Rhina spoke in favor of him and his reputation only for her to burst his bubble.

“I don't want my pain to be repeated in my sister's life. She deserves a lasting and happy home not this pathetic excuse of a human I call husband”

“Sophie to your room this minute” Margaret said calmly.

Back to Danvers

“You are the worst man I have ever laid my eyes on, someone like you was never supposed to have been born because you're totally useless and worthless”

Danvers' stood there, heads down he dared not look at her in the face.

“At this point I don't know what to say to you anymore words are inadequate to describe your level of worthlessness. Make sure you clean every corner of this room before you go to bed”

“Puffffff ha hahaha”

She laughed covering her mouth

“Sorry Flore, nonsense” she smacked and excused herself.

Danvers' reluctantly goes to get a cleaner and a bucket from the store with millions of thoughts going through his mind. Tomorrow was his high school reunion and he had to put in a lot of effort to look presentable even at his lowest. As he was thinking about the reunion, his thoughts were interrupted by the buzzing of his cellphone.
