Chapter 2

He checked his cell phone to see that he had received a text message. When he opened it, the number on the screen looked familiar. His eyebrows furrowed. He opened the text message in curiosity and was shocked as he read each word with kin attention.

“Oh great master, please help our kind. Our company is in dare need of your help, it requires a lot of funds to keep it affairs running”

“Preposterous” Danvers heaved a sigh and thought to himself. Four years ago I was accused of embezzlement and mismanagement and out of the blue with 10 dollars in my pocket they needed my help to save the company? Of what use am I to them anyway?

His thoughts were again interrupted by the buzzing of another text message which reads,

“Great master, I am begging you to help our kind. The company your invested in four years ago has truly established, running and have yielded much profit, please we will close down without your support”

“What!!!” Danvers' eyes opened wide.

He quickly took out the white bank card in his pocket and dialed the contact of the 24-hours customer care.

“Can I please know my account balance?"

He requested in an anxious voice.

‘Okay just give me a few minutes please.

A pretty voice at the other end of the phone responded and hung up the call.

Few minutes later.

“Dig dig”

Danvers quickly grabbed his phone

"hello” still holding his bank card in his hand.

“Sorry mister Danvers your account cannot be accessed, the amount of money in your account is so huge that only the account owner can access it"

" What!!”

Danvers exclaimed realizing himself, he placed the hand with the card on his mouth.

“Are you there sir"

" Yes yes I am”

" If you don't mind, you can pass by our office tomorrow for documentation and access to your account, we hope to see you soon, do have a pleasant day”

“Ndig"

The call ended

“Same to you" he said to an already ended call.

"The total amount of money in your account is huge!!” Laughed out Danvers entertaining his thoughts. Who would have thought that the investment that caused his rejection four years ago after being accused of mismanagement and embezzlement will lead to a pleasant surprise four years after. The fact that the customer care could not access his account was an added Mistry he couldn't wait to unravel. Margaret walked in on him still holding the card.

“Rhina come and see your so called husband holding the most expensive bank card in Bradon city I guess he was checking on his account balance hahahah”

Rhina and Miya walked in almost immediately laughing

“I give him 50$ every day he must have saved up for the past four years to have a photocopy of the same white card that we all know it's not easy to have”

“Just treat it like it's nothing,” Miya said, prompting the three of them to laugh in unison.

Ignoring their chairing, Danvers walked up to Rhina.

Your company is in need of 10 million to gain ground once again right?

Danvers spoke up with his face beaming with smiles

“How about I find a way and give it to you?” at that point, Rhina's company was facing some financial challenges and needed funds to keep it running. Rhina being the head of the company had to find a way out no matter what.

“Are you kidding me looser, Rhina here gives you 50$ everyday, can you comprehend the difference between 50$ and 10 million? Come off it and stop dreaming” Miya said.

“And what if I can actually afford it, what do you stand to lose?"

"Well I guess I will have to call you uncle and serve you lunch"

With a smile on his face he touched his chick and stood up on his feet.

"Then watch it! you better keep to your word when I actually do”

Rhina could not stand him anymore, looking like a peasant and standing in their midst made her even angrier. She wave a finger at him

“get lost and stop being an eyesore and pouring the air around us."

" Sorry” he exclaimed and left without uttering another word.

Danvers was unable to sleep that night; he didn't believe that such heartwarming news would pop up from nowhere. He had made up his mind to visit the bank the next day no matter the nature of his schedule.

He tossed back and forth before he could catch some sleep. Not long after that, his sweet sleep was interrupted with the vibrating voice of his mother-in-law. Before he knew it, she was already standing In front of him.

“Wake up you lazy bone and send Rhina to work, she is running late already”

Before he could clearly have his vision, he was kicked by the side.

“Are you deaf? I said you should send Rhina to work, she is running late for her meeting already and you need to make hairst, or don't you want to?

“I do, I do”

“Thought as much asshole”

Danvers sluggishly dragged himself out of the floor and Rhina herself walked in almost immediately in a professional attire that accentuated her beauty.

“What are you still standing there doing? Are you deaf or what? I am late for work already and you are here lazing about?"

" Sorry on my way”

Danvers rushed to the restroom, washed his face and walked straight to his electric bike. Wondering what had happened all of a sudden. The same Rhina who detested him so much and was even shy to call him husband suddenly wanted him to send her off to work with an electric bike?

Rhina was filled with anger as her company was in dire need of an Investor, it was at the verge of facing bankruptcy and eventually closed down if care is not taken, to handle the situation, an emergency meeting was organized to see how they could unanimously handle the ranging situation at hand. Being the general manager of the company, her presence was highly important as she needed to officiate over this meeting.

It was only after she walked out of the house ready to go for the meeting that she realized that her car had a breakdown over the weekend and she needed to contact the service of a mechanic. With Danvers as the last option, she had no choice than to order him to send her to work.

“Can't your bike go any faster than this? I will be screwed if I am late” Rhina spoke up impatiently after the long silence.
