Chapter 23

Benjamin, Theresa, and Max all heard the waiter's words to his fellow employee.

“Wait, what are they doing?” Max was confused. “Do we really need protection while eating?”

Benjamin shifted a dead gaze at his best friend. “C’mon, those bouncers are definitely not to protect us. They probably think we'll dine and dash, so those bodyguards are actually to keep us from escaping if we don't pay after eating.”

Theresa Knox shook her head. “Isn't this going too far? Why would we go through so much trouble just to run away after eating here?” She huffed at the treatment they've been getting.

“Grandma, don't think about it too much, okay?” Benjamin rubbed his grandma's back to help her calm down. He then turned to his best friend. “You too. Stop worrying too much.”

Max, who seemed to be zoned out a second ago, was jolted back to reality. He shrugged his shoulders. “What?! I didn't do anything? Why would I be too worried?”
