Chapter 29

“What's going on?” Benjamin could only crane his neck as the car couldn't move an inch past the thick crowd blocking the road.

Theresa gasped as her eyes caught what was in the distance. “Oh my goodness! Benjy, our house!”

At that moment, Benjamin could see the source of the red light. The one-storey run-down building at the end of the crowd was fully engulfed in flames. This was the building where Theresa lived with Benjamin - in a one-room apartment of this building.

“Benjy, everything is in flames! Our belongings! They're all gone!” Theresa pulled his grandson's arm. “How could this happen?”

Benjamin saw that Theresa was about to exit the car so he quickly held her hand. “Grandma, wait!”

Theresa had just opened the car door before she quickly closed it back due to the alarm in Benjamin's voice. “What is it?!”

“Look.” With a frown, Benjamin pointed out the windshield on Theresa's side of the car.
