On the way to their current residence to bid it goodbye, Theresa was left shocked as she was seated on the rear seat of the car, holding Benjamin's hands as he narrated how he found his true heritage - The Whiteridge family.

“My goodness, Benjy! This….This is a lot to process.” Theresa genuinely looked like she was struggling to regulate her breathing as she blinked furiously.

“It all makes so much sense to me now. The black card, the spending, even your change in demeanor.” Her eyes briefly widened as something crossed her mind. “I'm guessing you were able to pay off those thugs who came after Max too, right?” She recalled that her grandson had urged her inside the restaurant, and so she never got to witness how Benjamin and Max had handled the situation.

Benjamin quickly nodded his head. “Yup, I simply paid off those creditors and they left Max alone. I'm certain we won't be seeing them again.” He wasn't about to tell his grandmother how he had found Max being bullied and how he ha

“What's going on?” Benjamin could only crane his neck as the car couldn't move an inch past the thick crowd blocking the road.Theresa gasped as her eyes caught what was in the distance. “Oh my goodness! Benjy, our house!”At that moment, Benjamin could see the source of the red light. The one-storey run-down building at the end of the crowd was fully engulfed in flames. This was the building where Theresa lived with Benjamin - in a one-room apartment of this building.“Benjy, everything is in flames! Our belongings! They're all gone!” Theresa pulled his grandson's arm. “How could this happen?” Benjamin saw that Theresa was about to exit the car so he quickly held her hand. “Grandma, wait!”Theresa had just opened the car door before she quickly closed it back due to the alarm in Benjamin's voice. “What is it?!”“Look.” With a frown, Benjamin pointed out the windshield on Theresa's side of the car. In that direction, there was a sleek car coming to a stop just tens of feet away from

Back in the car, Benjamin had noticed Andrew glaring at the car only to soon look away, ignoring it. He was glad that he had not allowed Anthony to drive him all the way to the university gates earlier, or else, Andrew might have recognized this car on sight. “What could they be talking about?” Theresa couldn't help but crane her neck at the suspicious two outside the car. “Benjy, something is up with those two, and something tells me that it's not good at all. Did you see the cash in the envelope that he handed to the landlord?” She kissed her teeth as another confusing question formed in her mind. “Also, how could the landlord be over here with that young man while his building is still on fire?” An idea immediately sparked in Benjamin's brain as his gaze turned to his driver. “Anthony, after you dropped me near campus, did anyone see you at all, especially Andrew?” Even though Benjamin knew the likelihood of the answer he would get, he still wanted to make sure before he snatch

The next time the landlord came over to Theresa's apartment to bully them, Benjamin was more than ready to put him in his place. Ever since then, the landlord has never found an opportunity to get what he wanted again. This made him develop a deep grudge in his heart against Benjamin, and by relation, Theresa.Unfortunately for the landlord, he never got a valid reason to send Theresa and his grandson out of his house, especially knowing that Benjamin knew his full rights as a tenant. Then, Andrew reached out to him. It was as if the heavens had finally heard his distress. He had now found a good motivation to send Theresa and Benjamin out of his building. Even better, he was getting paid to make sure that the two got into serious trouble.Back to the present,Andrew gave the short man a side glance before nodding his head. “I'll have $50,000 wired to you remotely and that's it, got it?!” He pointed a finger at the man with a fierce expression. Once this deal was done, he didn't want

Benjamin held his crying grandmother while glaring at the diminishing crowd in the distance. “Take us to our new home.”Anthony sat up straight at this, glad that they wouldn't be remaining in this lower district any longer. He happily got back on the roads leading to the higher districts. As time went by, the road got more perfectly started with lower traffic.“Grandma, are you okay now?” Benjamin had waited until he heard no more snuffling from his old woman.“I'm fine, my dear.” Theresa nodded her head while she was lying it over Benjamin’s shoulder. “Now, I'm just deeply disappointed in them.” She was referring to the tenants now planning to run her and her grandson down.Benjamin kept running a soothing hand down his grandmother's arm. “Don't worry, I'll handle them, especially that greedy rat.” He was referring to the landlord, of course. As time went on, the road got more scarce of other cars. As for those cars that were spotted on this road, they looked expensive.“Anthony, ho

Things have suddenly taken a turn for the unexpected. This security guard was now raising his voice at them. This, in turn, alerted the other security guard. Before Benjamin or Theresa could even say a word, there were now four other security guards, with their firearms facing down, now surrounding the car. This inevitably attracted some attention.“We'll kindly ask you three to exit the car for thorough inspection.” The security guard who had indirectly alerted the rest spoke these words. Though the tone he used was anything but respectful.Benjamin and Theresa shared.“Benjy, what should we do?”Benjamin sighed. “Let's cooperate so we can get through this entrance without extra commotion. We've already dealt with a lot of situations in one day.”Going from discovering he's the long-lost grandson of Hunter Whiteridge. Then dealing with Alexa, Andrew, and James Thorpe. Anthony stared down at the kneeling and pleading security guard for a moment before a cold smirk spread on his face. “Oh, so you finally figured out who my boss is, huh?”The security guard glanced up at this man before the realisation set in that he was currently begging the driver. He shifted his gaze to the young man and old woman who remained seated in the car's rear seats. Even though he couldn't see their faces past the tinted windshield right now, he had seen their faces when he first spoke to this driver earlier.“Mr. Whiteridge Sir! Mrs. Whiteridge Ma'am! I'm really sorry for what has happened today! Please, forgive my ignorance! It won't happen again!”This security guard’s voice was intensely loud. So much that his words echoed through the usually calm air at the gates. Those vehicles and pedestrians getting checked before passing through the gates all had their attention on this security guard. This inevitably made everyone present here take notice of the car Benjamin was

Theresa's eyes widened slightly as she looked around her. She was so used to her reality of not letting most things around her matter to her. That's why she had yet to fully digest that her life was no longer that of a disrespected pauper.Benjamin frowned slightly as he recalled something while glancing down at the kneeling man. “When that security guard ordered us to exit this car a while ago. You and I were immediately about to oblige. We would have done as he instructed us. Anthony hadn't signaled us to sit back.” Benjamin shook his head. “Our behavior just then did not reflect our elevated status.”Theresa understood what his grandson was telling her. They needed to be more active in the way they reacted to how they were treated by people. From now on, they must never succumb easily to threats as it would only make them appear unfit for the Whiteridge family's power and social influence.Theresa sighed. “Adjusting to our new lifestyle will not be easy at all, my dear. But I beli

Minutes later, the car approached a large golden gate.“Young Master Benjamin, Mrs. Knox, we're here.”Theresa gasped at the sight before her.The main gate was made in unique line patterns that gave a unique artistic feeling. As the gate was completely obstructing the view, one could see the green pasture that lay on either side of the tiled road.Theresa and Benjamin could see the stretch of lush trees on either side of the road behind this gate as well.Benjamin was amazed at the beauty he was witnessing without even getting inside yet. Still, he could see that this place couldn't measure up to the beauty that the Whiteridge Prime Estate possessed. If Theresa was shocked by the beauty of what she was seeing now, she would definitely pass out if she saw the Whiteridge family's Prime Estate.Anthony rode the car to the main gate and a call suddenly appeared on the screen built into the car. He answered the call.“State your business.” A feminine voice came through the call.“I'm Anth

He's not normal. He just witnessed us massacre our own men and he didn't flinch. Also, he hasn't changed from his initial position before we fired at those idiots. Some had their clothes completely dirty as they had been dragged brutally across the ground like dirty rags. They all had some form of intense injury from fighting Benjamin. As for the weapons they had confidently held onto, they were now scattered around the fighting area.Benjamin had disarmed every one of these masked men while still not showing any sign of fatigue. In fact, Benjamin has no drop of sweat on his face, and his clothes remain neither dirty nor scrunched. It was basically like he wasn't the one who fought all twelve armed masked men in the first place.A masked man, holding on to his injured back, was able to force himself into a stand.“You….You think just because you can fight that you've won?! “That is a risk I'm willing to take. As long as April comes out of this unharmed, I'm fine.”Max was left shocked at this reply. Looking at his best friend's face, he could tell that Benjamin showed no hesitation even though the possibility that he was going to be in great danger was high. He persisted one more time.“Ben, what if this person's intention goes beyond just harming you? What if the intention is to kill both you and April?”Lieutenant Jason jolted up, knocking his head against the roof of the jeep as he heard those words from Max's mouth.“That won't happen! I won't let the boss get into that kind of danger.”Anthony spoke to Benjamin with a soft tone, conveying his deep worry.“Boss, please, reconsider. I doubt this person would hurt April even if you don't meet the conditions that have been given to you. It's clear that the main target here is you.”Olivia nodded her head reluctantly, thinking through multiple angles of this situation.“I think your bodyguard makes a lo

This scenario was not something he had anticipated. He had quickly said a last few words to the principal, ensuring that he handled the situation with Landlord Isaac Shawl and the protesters who were hell-bent on killing their leaders after learning of his unforgivable crimes.Benjamin had them quickly go out to find Anthony, Lieutenant Jason, and the remaining Whiteridge soldiers who were left with him, all waiting for him.Together, they got to their destination.Benjamin had been informed of the floor Max and Olivia was on during his shirt trip here, so he quickly led his team up the elevator.“Max, he's here!” Olivia had quickly pulled Max's attention away from the

“I want the name of the person who hired you.”In reality, Benjamin was already fully aware that the Tyrone family was behind everything that had to do with the arson and even this protest. The fact that such a move was held off for the past six months was an adequate agent of suspicion that there was someone manipulating everything from behind the scenes. The truth was that Benjamin wanted Isaac Shawl to confess publicly, betraying the backer who gave him the guts to fool so many people.Benjamin wanted the old landlord to not only confess in front of Principal Dice and the two police officers, he wanted Isaac Shawl to confess to a bunch of people who had arrived with the two policemen but were hiding just outside the office.Isaac Shawl was currently thinking of how he could maneuver this situation. He didn't like that someone he had always looked down upon was now doing the same to him. It didn't help at all that he was physically on his knees, looking up at Benjamin like he was fa

It was the face of a man who looked like Benjamin in his late twenties, but this man had a battered face and his surroundings looked like an enclosed space with dim light.Still, Isaac Shawl could recognize this man. After all, he was the one who hired him to plant the chlorine fluoride tank in Theresa's apartment, which then gave him the ability to blame Benjamin as the arsonist. That's right. The face on Principal Dice's laptop screen is that of the real culprits - the actual arsonist who caused the explosion of Benjamin’s childhood home.Isaac Shawl felt like he was being doused completely in a bucket of ice water, the unforgiven coldness rushing through his spinal cords and permeating through every cell in his body. The shrewd landlord wasn't dumb.
