The name echoed in Travis’ mind like a haunting refrain as he departed from the hospital, his head swathed in bandages. He couldn’t afford to linger, though, because unfinished business called to him, compelling him to make a swift return home.

As he made his way to the car, Damien, who had been a steadfast presence throughout the ordeal, voiced his concerns. “Are you certain you shouldn’t stay back and focus on your recovery? You still don’t look well,” Damien said, his tone laced with genuine worry as he held the passenger door open.

Travis acknowledged the concern with a weary sigh, locking eyes with Damien before getting into the car. “I appreciate it, but I need to head home. I’ll get myself checked at the hospital once I’m back in Grove City. I can’t stay away any longer; my family needs me.”

With a nod of understanding, Damien slid into the driver's seat, firmly shutting the car door, and ignited the engine as they began their journey toward the Danforth Manor.
