The Test

“Yes Mr Nicholas.” Elena replied as she took in deep breaths to calm herself and tried her best to look innocent as possible.

He walked up to her. “I believe we have met before, Miss Thorne. Correct me if I’m wrong?”

Elena lifted her lips into a thin line as she summoned a smile.

“Yeah, we have.” She said between tightened teeth.

She looked around, she could see the other students wishing they were the ones that got this attention.

“At my dad’s wedding.” She responded further. “The beautiful wedding that was going on before you and your beautiful lab here ended it and kept my dad in a miserable state.”

She stopped talking immediately.

She did not mean to sound so mean. Her eyes scanned the faces of the students who looked utterly horrified that she might be ruining their chances.

Her gaze shifted to her professor and her professor shook her head slowly.
