Chapter seven: the chase

“You betrayed me,” Mike said as police officers approached him with speed.

Mike turned and started running and the policeman Chased him, Mike dashed.

“Freeze!!!!” officer Joe shouted

Mike disobeyed and continued running, Mike was chased by five policemen.

“All units block all entrances and exit, he is not leaving here!” Officer Ruby said.

Mike runs into a shrub and hides behind it.

The policemen blocked all entrances to the park, Officer Joe thinks that he had Mike cornered like a rat.

“You are cornered, come out with your hands raised or we will open fire!” Officer Joe shouted, pointing his pistol at the shrub Mike hid behind and signaling other officers to surround the shrub.

As the policemen moved closer, all of a sudden, they heard the sound of a motorcycle behind the shrubs and Mike jumped out of the shrubs with a delivery motorcycle.

Mike Bye passed the policemen with the delivery motorcycle, Officer Joe Dodge, and took cover.

Mike zoomed off, escaping the police but the officers didn't give up.

“All available units respond! The suspect is heading towards the entrance on a delivery motorcycle wearing a blue shirt and black trousers, proceed with caution” Officer Ruby announced on the police radio.

Police officers entered their vehicle and chased after Mike. Mike rode fast escaping roadblocks by the police but he was been pursued by more than five police cars nevertheless Mike's nose mask

After much maneuvering Officer Joe, who was part of the pursuit, got tired and said “All unit block at the entrance of the market and I block him at the back, then he won't escape”.

Mike still on the run, took a shortcut to the market and he was chased by a police car, because of the narrowness of the road.

The other police cars took another road. The officers got to the entrance of the market, hid behind their car doors, using it as a shield, and pointed their pistols toward the direction waiting for Mike to arrive.

All of a sudden they saw, dozens of delivery boys wearing the same blue shirt and black trousers that Mike wore, the police officers were confused and they decided to stop and apprehend every one of them.

Officer Joe, came out of the car angrily realizing that Mike had escaped.

“Damn it! He escaped again! How does he do that?” Officer Joe asked himself.

“Sir! I have questioned the delivery boys about the sudden coincidence and they knew nothing about” Officer Ruby said.

“Are you sure that they are not lying to you?” Officer Joe asked.

“No, they are not,” Ruby said.

“Fine, let them go and where is billionaire Andrew's daughter, Jane?” Officer Joe asked.

Ruby turned to other officers and signaled them with her hand, telling them to let the ignorant delivery boys go, then she turned back to Officer Joe and said “We arrested her and she is at the station”

Meanwhile, Mike watched the whole scene from a distance. Mike went to the Manson clock store.

“Hey, fam!” Mike said, opening the door of the store, and sitting Manson mending a clock.

“Hey, bro!” Manson said, he stood up and gave Mike their usual friend shake they created while in high school.

“Manson the horologies! I admire your work” Mike said, looking around and admiring the clocks made by Manson.

“Yeah, thanks. So how did it go?” Manson asked.

“It went well but thank God I had a plan B, if not I could have been in a police cell now,” Mike said.

“What happened?” Manson asked, offering Mike a seat and giving him a beverage and they sat down and discussed.

“I thought of a plan, in case, Jane tried to get me arrested, so I dressed as a delivery boy and I met her and we discussed but I noticed that I was being set up but before then I had already hidden a motorcycle behind the shrubs in the park, so when I was being Chased by the police escape several road blocks but I entered a narrow road and the only police car chasing me got stuck at some point and I entered another road and I changed my clothes and waited for the main delivery boys to pass me heading towards the market to pick up items to be delivered and before them, I have already hacked the police radio that means I can hear everything” Mike explained.

“So if you know it will be a trap, why did you go, or in fact why did you go to see her in the first place?” Manson asked.

“It's part of my plan,” Mike said.

“What plan?” Manson asked

“You will know in the future,” Mike said with a smile on his face.

“Okay….. If you escaped what about Jane?” Manson asked.

“Umm…. She will take care of herself, she is the billionaire daughter, she can't be touched” Mike. Said

Meanwhile, at the station, Jane was being interrogated by the police.

“What do you know about the stolen necklace?” Officer Ruby said.

“Nothing,” Jane said in a calm relaxed voice tone, sitting down on a chair, handcuffs in her hands.

“Really?… So who was the guy you were talking to in the pack?” Officer Ruby said.

“It's a delivery boy that asked for my help,” Jane said. Jane said

“You asking me questions and treating me like a criminal, let me remind you who my father is, he is billionaire Andrew and your boss is loyal to him which means he can take away your badge with one phone call if you like to interrogate me here like a criminal,” Jane said looking straight into officer Ruby eyes with boldness.

As Officer Ruby was about to ask another. She was interrupted by police commissioner Reynold.

“Let her go, she does not have to know anything,” Commissioner Reynold said.

Commissioner Reynold walked up to Jane and unlocked the handcuff.

“But Sir! She is an alliance with the suspect, she must be interrogated” Officer Ruby said.

“What is going on here?” Officer Joe asked, as he came into the interrogation and was surprised to see Jane being set free.

“What does it look like?” Commissioner Reynold said.

“But sir, she….”

“She is not guilty and you have no reason to detain her!” Commissioner Reynold said, giving Jane a hand as she majestically stood up from her chair with a smile on her face.

“Sir…”

“Stand down sergeant! Or I will take your badge away!” Commissioner Reynold said, ordering Officer Joe to move away.

“Take care of yourself my dear and extend my greetings to your father,” Commissioner Reynold said, as he opened the door for Jane to leave.

Jane smiled and said, “Have a nice day sir”.

Commissioner Reynold smiled and waved as she walked away. Immediately he turned and faced Officer Joe and Ruby.

“Both of you! I want your report tomorrow on my desk as early as possible” Commissioner Reynold said with all seriousness in his face.

Jane got to the mansion tired. She sat on the couch to rest as she was about to close her eyes, he heard her father, billionaire Andrew calling her as he walked down the stairs.

“Jane! Jane! Oh my goodness, are you hurt?” Billionaire Andrew asked, as he moved closer and adjusted his glasses to take a good look at his daughter.

“I am fine Dad” Jane answered.

“I heard you were arrested by the police for coming in contact with the suspect,” billionaire Andrew asked.

“Yeah but I am surprised how did they know that I would come in contact with him” Jane asked.

“I sent them to spy on you,” billionaire Andrew said.
