Zeke’s consciousness didn’t fade completely. In fact, it remained in tact before it glitched out for five seconds. When it returned to him, he’s no longer in the crimson room where he talked with the god of the forge. No. Zeke is now in the complete opposite of this room.
He’s in a completely empty space. There is nothing inside of it. Though Zeke is sure that it exists because, he can still move his body. To a limited extent that is since he seems to be going on a downward path. Evident by the way the breeze is hitting the back of his body more and, evident in the way that he can feel gravity pulling him down. This feels odd and uncalled for. Unless there’s something he needs to do in this place, then it would be better for him to just have been thrown straight towards the kingdom he’d be affiliated with. Thankfully, there is a purpose for him being caught in that state and, this came out right in that second.[Hello master.]
[I am your system. I will be your guide and helper throughout your mission of defeating the Demon Lord.]
“Wait, how are you talking to me?” Zeke asked.
This isn’t part of the interface of the system. As far as what he’s read, there’s nothing there that states that the [System} should be able to talk to him. But that is only as far as the available information on the [System’s] operations are concerned.
[Due to your efforts in finishing the Forest of Trials, I am now closer to my full potential. This is part of the interface I get when you advance master.]
“I can interact with you now huh.” Zeke said. “That’s good. I wouldn’t have it any other way after what that bastard made me go through.”[We need to go through a short briefing before you actually get transported to your kingdom master.]
[But first, would you like to choose your job class now?”]
“Choose my job class huh.” Zeke repeated. “That doesn’t sound so bad at all. I’ll need the extra boost in case the people of the kingdom are hostile towards me.”
[Understood.][Here are your three choices.]
[Secondary Job Class]
[Option I - Shadow’s Reaper]
[Information: Grants abilities that get stronger the more shadows or darkness there is around. The peak of the power can be manifested at a night with the New Moon.]
[Secondary Job Class]
[Option II - Berserker]
[Information: Increases damage explosively, attaining feats that shouldn’t be possible before. Taking this path will grant immense raw power but, at the price of one’s sanity.]
[Secondary Job Class]
[Option III - Blacksmith]
[Information: Creates weapons, items, armor, and other items that can be produced in the forge.]
At first glance, Zeke wanted to choose between the first and the second option. After all, both of these are heavily damage oriented job classes. If he combines it with the skills that he’s already gained through being an assassin, then Zeke would easily reach a point where he can kill a whole tribe of ogres all by himself. That’s what he’s thinking and, this is his final answer.“I’m taking the blacksmith job class.”There’s no mistake in this choice that he’s making. He’s not doing this because he’s lost his marbles. Far from it, it’s because Zeke is entirely sane that he can arrive at conclusions such as these. It’s the blacksmith job class that he needs the most. Through it, he will be able to make traps. He will also be able to forge his own weapons, customizing each and ever one based on his needs. He doesn’t have to scour the earth for what he needs before he fights, he can simply make these himself by being a blacksmith. This is his line of thinking when he made the decision which, the [System] approved.[Understood]
[You are now given your Secondary Job Class.]
[Current Profile]
[Name: Zeke Elwood]
[Level: 10]
[Job Class: Blacksmith Assassin]
“Perfect.” Zeke said, entirely satisfied with the choice that he made. Why wouldn’t he when this is basically all that he’d need.
[Information: You have gained three new skills because of your choice.]
[New Skill: Blacksmith’s Essence]
[Skill Type: Passive]
[Mana Consumption: None]
[Information: Grants a 10% proficiency to the job class Blacksmith.]
[New Skill: Forge]
[Skill Type: Passive]
[Mana Consumption: None]
[Information: When creating items through a proper forge, skills in creation are doubled.]
[New Skill: Living Forge]
[Skill Type: Active]
[Mana Consumption: 200]
[Information: Creates a forge in the place where the caster is located. Making items in a living forge has a 50% reduction in success rate but, has a faster creation capacity.]
[Information: The living forge exists for a total of thirty minutes.]
“Of course it’s only going to give me basic skills.” Zeke said, not too excited about what he got.Nevertheless, this is enough for the start that he wants. If he is going to a kingdom and, if that kingdom is going to win against the Demon Lord, then he needs to make sure that they are all properly equipped. And, of course, he’s going to set himself as the basis. The example that his allies will follow after.Though if there’s one thing that’s good about these skills, it’s that they will be useful to jumpstarts his activities. Both in getting better at creation by being a blacksmith and, also the act of killing monsters through the use of traps. Just thinking about these things is making him more and more excited. Making him want to fight right away. And, thankfully, he doesn’t need to wait long anymore.
[Everything you need is now set master.]
[You will now be transported to the Kingdom of Forge.]“Man, can’t they think of a better name? Why does it have to be some plain word that’s so obvious.”
These are the last words that the human said before the entirety of the light enveloped him. The journey of Zeke Elwood in the land of Ragna now begins. His journey to defeating the Demon Lord and…towards defeating monsters far beyond what he expected.
The sound of metal being hammered down spread across the four corners of the poorly lit room. Each strike resonated with the silhouette formed by the forge fire. Flames that are strong enough to burn those that have not been trained in the art of crafting weapons and armors. Within this space, there is a single person. A broad-shouldered man who has his long white hair tied to a bun. His eyes fixed on nothing else but his craft and on the repetitive hammering of the metal that lay before him. Heated to a point that it would seem like it holds magic. Yet it doesn’t. Not yet.The focus of the blacksmith that’s making the weapon seem to be scared. Something that nobody should ever invade until the hammering of steel is finished. Then, and only then, can a person speak. And that is precisely what happened as soon as the glowing metal is placed on water.“My lord.” A female voice said coming from the entrance of the room.“You have five minutes.” The blacksmith replied, not taking his eye
It is one in the morning. The sky is still filled with the night’s darkness. It would take a couple more hours before the two suns of Ragna rise over the horizon. The orange and the yellow ones that bring light and energy to this world. But before that can come to pass, there is the stillness of the night.Within the castle of the king, there is but a single light that is lit. Not on the chambers of the lord of this kingdom, nor is it on any of the quarters of the servants. Instead, the light is opened on the library of the castle. A large room filled with a multitude of books. And the one who is eagerly reading through a large pile on his table is none other than Zeke Elwood himself. He arrived in Forge Kingdom in the afternoon. He then followed his arrival with a well-deserved rest before being called for supper. Zeke gladly had his fill of the food which, wasn’t even that much for a feast. He can see that much effort has been placed into preparing the meal but, it doesn’t feel like
The following day, Sylvia woke up with a very bad headache. Nobody can blame her because, she did go through something very excruciating earlier that day. Specifically, the encounter with the hero of her kingdom, Zeke Elwood. She didn’t want to reveal the impoverished state of Forge. At least not yet. She knows that it’s difficult to hide but, she expected that it would at least take a couple of days before the hero pieces together the facts. But that’s not what happened. Unfortunately, Zeke found out within a day and, now, she has to think of ways on how to get the hero to be more appreciative of the kingdom.“This is it Sylvia.” She muttered to herself. “We finally have our own hero. We can’t afford to fuck this up.”She wanted to start the day by having the throne room inspected. After that, it’ll be cleaned by the maids. She doesn’t know why she hasn’t thought of this before. It’s such a simple concept after all. The throne room needs to always be presentable because, nobody knows
[Main Quest – Defeat the Demon Lord] This is the thing that’s displayed in Zeke’s screen. To be completely honest, he thinks that it is only right that this is called the main quest. But in games, there’s definitely other main quests that lead to the final one. Things that will move him closer to getting strong enough to face an entity as powerful as a demon lord. But that’s not happening. Instead, what he has are a multitude of side quests. A bunch of them that’s lined up for the same purpose that he mentioned. To make him strong enough to face the demon lord and, these are some of them. [Restore Economy of the Forge Kingdom] [Restore Military Prowess of the Forge Kingdom] [Restore the Dignity of the King of the Forge Kingdom] Basically, most of the quests that he has are on a scale that he has to help the Forge kingdom in some way. There are some that are an exception but, the thing is, if he wants efficiency more than anything else, then he has to begin with the quests
Before the night of Zeke’s first fight against the goblins. He first continued the discussion he’s having with Sylvia. One that had a space made after Zeke stated his job class. After he said that he is a Blacksmith Assassin. A statement that has now left Sylvia in a state that can only be described as being dumbfounded.“My lord, I think I didn’t hear you right. Did you just say that you’re a…”“A Blacksmith.” Zeke repeated, not even letting the dark elf finish with whatever it was that she was planning to say. And, he even added to be more precise. “An Assassin Blacksmith. That is my job class.”Zeke knows that, in this world, it is difficult to get your secondary job class. There are specific requirements that first needs to be fulfilled before one can claim this after all. In fact, it is so difficult to gain a secondary job class that the number of them within a kingdom won’t even go beyond a hundred. That is how rare they are.But Zeke’s already past all of that. He’s past the no
Right after the conversation with Sylvia, Zeke and the dark elf went straight into the heart of the city. The place where one specific blacksmith can be found – none other than King Heimdal himself. A king that rules over the dark elves and has made the most splendid weapons throughout the years. This is the introduction given to Daemon regarding the king. The very words that came out of Sylvia’s lips. He can see the enthusiasm on the face of the dark elf while talking about this very king which, tells him one other thing, that even though Forge Kingdom is in this state, the king isn’t someone that the people hates. At least not absolutely. In light of this, Zeke and Sylvia went down a spiraling path. It seems that the place they’re visiting is not above ground. No. It is under it. And as Zeke and Sylvia took what seems to be a secret route, they arrived, in the blink of an eye, to a door that stands in their way.Even outside, Zeke can hear the hammering of steel. There’s something a
“My lord, someone is here to see you.”These are Sylvia’s words as soon as she entered the forge. The king continued hammering down the weapon that he’s making. But he still found the time to give a reply nonetheless.“Sylvia, I told you that I’m busy didn’t I?” It’s at this point that Zeke felt the overwhelming difference between him and the dark elf that’s fixated on making the weapon before him. A large gap in strength to be exact that, he believes, is something that he wouldn’t be able to overcome any time soon. Not with his own capabilities at least. A challenge that he’s now gladly taken upon himself.“You seem to be a very busy person my lord.” Zeke suddenly said. He was told by Sylvia beforehand not to say anything until he’s given permission. But with the way that things are going, he knows that this would take too long. If he has to wait for the king to be ready, the time for them to hold a discussion may never come anymore. So he’s just going to force it and, sure enough,
The king stopped in his tracks. There is a silence that spread once more. Far greater than the one that’s already passed. And with this, came a stare. A deadly stare that is directed right at Zeke Elwood. Making the human feel the animosity of the great king of the dark elves. Making him feel the deadly rage that can result in his death.“If I were you boy, I would be careful what I’d say next.” The king began. “I am not a king who has patience with impudence.”The heat became much more unbearable for Zeke all of a sudden. He can feel his nerves all trembling, every muscle, every fiber of his being, is screaming for him to run away. He can be broken like a twig. That is how easy it would be for the king of the Forge Kingdom to kill him. And his whole being knows this, down to his very core.“Forgive me, my king.” Zeke bowed his head right away. “But to get your full attention, I thought that an action like this is necessary for me to take.”“And you have that now. My full undivided at
