"what's happening?" Dorothy said, looking back at him.
"I'm coming... Just need to check on something " He said and then raced his way forward to where the sounds of sobbing were coming from.
First things first, Desmond sighed to himself, he had to make sure that everything was alright. He was been worried about the one who he had to take into guidance now. While it was understandable that the boy had lost his parents and thus would be have fits such as this, he was really worried that he may have let that get to the person who had come in to visit.
When he was leaving the house, earlier, he had been frustrated.
It was not too long since he had to leave his own house and his own life to come here, in the status of a guardian to the son of his late brother. It was not long enough and so, it was normal that people would be watching him.
After all, he had been the brother who had not been seen around the family since the time that his brother had decided to cut ties with him. Based on the account of his frivolous lifestyle which he was not opportune to sponsor by himself. It had led to him asking for money from his brother who had it easier in life and eventually the brother had decided that it was enough of hi, cutting off ties with him.
It came as a shock to him when he had been named as the guardian of his brother's son, by the Will. He had not expected it but yet it had come. There was nothing he could do about it but accept it as the new normal.
And of course, that meant he was going to enjoy the whole perks that came with it. This was the selling point. The point which did soften his heart towards the late brother of his. However, it was only normal that people would be casting suspicious looks at him.
While they could do that even if they disagreed, the will of his late brother was supreme. There was little to nothing that either of the could do. But that did not mean that they would not be watching him. they would have their eyes fastened on hi to know just how well he was managing the affairs he had been entrusted. And one of the things which he was sure they would be taking into consideration was the son of the late brother.
The son had been his concern.
He had not accepted him, the brat of a boy but then he was not worried. He himself did not accept him. he only accepted the guardianship post on him just so he could have a taste of the luxury that was in the house.
The boy had not been eating his food at all for the past time. It had worried him that he did not want to have a shriveled boy turn out to b his ward. It would not speak well of him. He was only worried that the people who were secretly watching him would want to sue the boy as a marker to attack him and render him unfit to hold the status quo.
Which was why he had to find out who was sobbing. To know if the boy Lekan had mouthed out to whoever it was about his obvious displeasure over him. After a while of running, Desmond skidded to a halt as he reached the front of the room of Lekan, his mouth slightly ajar in sync with his widened eyes as the crouched figure of the girl. The girl who he had come to know as Lekan's neighborhood friend.
His eyes flashed as he saw her sobbing. She was crying, outside the room of Lekan.
Had Lekan hit her?
For a moment there, glee rose in his heart. If Lekan had hit her then it would be sufficing for him to take the initiative to beat the boy black and blue and then hide behind the cover that he had beaten and not only that, molested the girl Blessing.
It would do just fine. Earlier, he had been looking for a way to teach the boy a lesson in a way that no one would care to listen to the side of Lekan at all. Now was the time that Fate had provided for him. It would be foolhardy for him not to take advantage of it now.
So with that in his mind, he crept closer to her, coming from her right hand side. As he did that, he was positioned in front of the door, his shoe shuffling on the ground and alerting the girl to his presence now.
Blessing whimpered now and then looked up, clearing her tears with the back of her hand. "Good afternoon sir." She greeted.
"Yea! How are you? You look awful!" He said, his voice sounding really caring and worried.
Desmond squatted now, using two fingers of his left hand to lift her jaw up and then slightly turn her head towards him.
"Did he hurt you?" He asked, a faint glimmer of excitement in his eyes.
"Oh... No, no!' Blessing said to him now. "Lekan would never do that to me. I am just sad... Just sad because of the way things are with him. He..." She paused now. "He is really taking this hard on himself, sir. I just wish he could get over all of this, and do that on time too." She said, sorrowfully.
"Oh! Desmond sighed. He shook his head now, one out of frustration that it was not like he had thought it would have been and two, because now that he was here, he would have to listen to whatever nonsense blessing had to spew out of her mouth and while he would be doing that, Dorothy could be getting really impatient over everything.
He had everything lose now, except if he could just wrap up the talk with her and then head off. For now, he could not just head away right after she had begun to talk. It would seem to be really inconsiderate of him, besides, he wanted to see if she had any idea of how sour the relationship between them too was. If Lekan had informed her about that, then it would mean that he would have some work to do lest his image be ruined by the blabbermouth of a girl.
Blessing looked at him now. Her hands were wrapped around her knee caps, bring her lower half closer to her breast. Seeing the way her breasts were all folded up together, Desmond could not just help but lick his lips, imagining how that would look like if Blessing was truly naked before him.
"I was thinking, sir. What if we can get Lekan to get out of the house for some time. I know that he has not been out for a while and I think that is what is making him become what he is right now. I am sure you must understand this, Sir!"
"Not quite." Desmond replied. "There is virtually everything in this house. I don't see what he needs to do that would require him to get out of the house."
"You may not see it..." Blessing replied now. "But this house is depressing to him. This is where his parents lived in before his death and already, I think he is having some crazed episodes now. He might be going through trauma, sir. I dont know but have you thought to have him undergo some check at the hospital? Maybe a bit of mental therapy to help him relieve the incident of the loss of his parents?" Blessing shrugged. "Besides, for tomorrow, I think that we can just have him step outside and come to my school for some time. I think the busy environment out at school would help to relieve his thoughts but I cannot do that without you helping."
Blessing whispered now. 'I dont think he would want to come to my school, even as I did invite him. But if you insist to him, I am sure that he would want to oblige."
Desmond frowned now. he did not like the idea of him getting out but then again, he was working against the time. He had Dorothy to return to and while he had her, he wanted to be done with the conversation as fast as possible for now.
"Did he tell you anything.. Anything... Like anything about me and the house and everything?" Desmond asked, trying to bait her to speak. "He is lost in his own world. To get him to notice things around him is something which is really tough. I think if you heard him say anything, even if it is bad, i would appreciate to hear it. At least let me know that he is not completely bonkers already. I worry too much for him." Desmond lied to her.
Blessing heaved now as she lowered her head. Lekan had mentioned something about his uncle. It was clear that he did not like his uncle and so, she did not want to be the one to say that to him, especially in his face. That would be betraying her friend.
All for what?
She could not do that. No, not for the whole world.
"No.. He didn't" She lied in return. "Maybe if we go out to school, then I may know what he has in his mind, especially about you." She said.
Desmond remained silent for a while before he shook his head. While it did not sound so great but at least, he reasoned, he could work with that. He just had to make sure that he could buy Blessing over to his side.
"Alright then." He said, rising up now. 'I would get him over when I am going to work. Thank you for seeing him , you know. It means so much to me." Desmond shook his head sadly.
"Yes sir. I would be leaving now.' She replied, equally getting to her feet as well.
Well, I hope to involve as much emotions in this as possible. im not just writing some regular beatdown novel. I want some depth in this. And Blessing is going to do just that. So, stay with me
Lekan whistled as he moved from the ironing table to the wardrobe now. It was just some hours since Blessing had left. Actually, it was another another day, although with the difference of not more than 12 hours in between. Compared to other times, his mood was improved now. He moved to the wardrobe and whistled, putting a finger to his lips as he paused, trying to remember what he had wanted to get in the first place. Shirtless with only a pair of trousers, black on his lower half, Lekan nodded his head harmoniously to the rhythm of the music booming out from the mini music player speaker which was on the table. As if lit by inspiration, he opened the two doors of the wardrobe and then pulled out a shirt from the one with the hanger compartment. He held the shirt and then looked at the vintage styled design of it for a few moments. And after he was done with the observation, his head still nodding to the boom of music, he tossed it to the Queen Sized bed which was behind him. After
“Ha!” The girl in the black jumpsuit roared as her feet bounced off the ground. Landing a few steps to the right, she smiled, her white skin reflecting the light and warmth. It revealed the radiance in the heart of this young girl. She held her two hands in front of her. Her blonde hair wafting softly from side to side even as the wind teased it. Her feet were placed, the right in front while the left was placed behind it. Just a little bit. “How long do you think you can really hold out against me? I am the Queen of the Combat Facility.” She smirked. The person whom she was speaking to frowned, his bushy eyebrows knitting closely at his forehead. He breathed hard, fisting his hands as he stared daggers at her, unmoving while his eyes loooked left and right. The place where the two combatants stood was one of a kind. It was a circular platform which had just three pillars at adjacent ends. The ground was lined with circular carvings. And right at the center of it was the insig
The taxi screeched to a halt in front of the campus of the school and Lekan heaved. It was a relief that he could actually get fresh air to breathe, fresh air which was not the same air that his Uncle Desmond would be breathing. He felt a strange rush of emotions well up in his body just then, as the Uber driver looked back to him and then informed him about their ride destination being reached. For a moment or two, he did not answer, neither did he move. He just stared up ahead, looking at the Uber driver who wore a blue baseball cap, white vest and black jeans. There was an aroma of scented mints in the car and the air conditioning was doing a good job in delivering the extra chill in the air to it/. Lekan took in an inhalation of air, allowing the mint scented air to settle against his lungs. It was refreshing in a way, he wanted to stay but then again, he could not stay. He had come down here because he had something which he wanted to do. And also because of the fact that being
Too much of everything is bad! Even attention. As Leslie jumped down from the fighting ring, her expression squeezed up immediately. She did not like the face of Professor BumJu, nor did anyone like the fact that he was around. He had the taste of bad moods and bad everything else. And she was naturally good. Too good he did not seem to leave her alone. Shaking her head, showing her face, she looked up to the giant features of Prof Bumju. Just like her, he was a full white man, his curly brown hair pressed down on his head as he pocketed. “You know, you don't have to give me that hated look.” He scoffed, looking to the ground. “Of course. If only everyone liked you, then I would do that.” Leslie smiled at him, only to turn to the other side with a frown. “Hm!’ Prof BumJu stopped now. He looked at her, letting a small smile break through his face. “I like you. You are feisty.” “And I don't like it. Why can't you just leave me alone?” She said to him, pouting at his face.
Seeing this, the man did not waste time now. He simply huffed and then brought his foot down on the head of Lekan, smashing his jaw into the hard concrete ground. Blood splattered about just then as teeth from the inner dentition rolled out to the ground. Lekan saw stars. Or the equivalent of them. With shut eyes, light twinkling against the blank that pulled up in his mind's eye. The pain rammed against his body, setting him ablaze with several emotions running rampant. His life flashed before his eyes now. Gritting, the pain mercilessly tore through his body like a beast on a prowl. His life flashed before his eyes in the fleeting moment, the fear of death stinging viciously in his mind. Lekan pondered on just how it was going to play out. Like it was general knowledge, those who got to be labeled as thieves did not often get to live for long. At least, not when the mob was allowed to do what they wanted to do. The rare cases where the mob did not get the upper hand was whe
It is good to be rich. Oh, very good. The sound in the SUV was of a different note. The speakers in it were of high quality. It left desmon in awe of the fact that he hadn't really been living the life back then. Yes, he had a car, an old fashioned model . But compared to the black SUV he was riding in, there was a whole different experience. And he loved it. In hindsight, this was only possible because of the death of his brother. And while that had hurt him initially, the fact that he was named the Guardian of the son had left his heart in gladness. It meant that the could also have a taste of the good things that his brother enjoy.d The only thing in his way of enjoying that in totality was the brat of a son which he had. The son would not be a problem. AT least, not after today. Desmond heaved out, whistling the song which w*s being played. WIth his hands on the steering, he rocked his sunshades even though he w* snot out in the sun. It Was going to be a good day today a
Lekan's head bounced back just now, his eyes flashing as stars revolved about his head now. The pain screeched at the back of his head for what seemed to be centuries. His vision disoriented, his sense of balance tipped off, all he could feel was pain. Intense pain. And regrets. If only he did not honor the invitation that was extended to him by Blessing. His heart cursed at him. He was too weak. Feeble minded. He let a girl pull him out. Now, he was stuck in here. In the beat down of his life. He should not have come. He should have stayed put. Now, was the death that he escaped in his parents car now coming back to him? "Thief!" The man yelled out now. He pulled back his fist, thick strands of blood sticking to the knuckles. Blood that came from his victim, the boy on the ground. Lekan. But he did not care. Not in the slightest bit. His mind was shut off, his heart intent on securing the mission target on which he was drafted to complete. It didn't matter how much blo
Whoever said waiting was a nice venture? The school bell rang out now, signifying the end of the normal class activities for those who had normal classes. Or at least, it was the significance of the end of the school hours now. The visitors or those who had come to pick their wards could not move towards the school blocks for the business which they had come for. Or at least, those who wanted to get to the teacher's room could do so now. It brought to the visors at the waiting tent a breath of fresh air. This was a sign. The sign. The sign that they could finally get over seating on the metallic chair for the long period of time that they had been here. It was not a pleasant endeavor, after all. However, that did not expressly mean that those who still had papers could be reached now. The rule of the school did not allow for that as examination malpractice could still be carried out in such a way. The closing bell was only for those of the students who did not have pape
