Luck was on their side, or whatever happened at the place where Adam found arrowhead might have been insignificant. The group managed to reach the open fields of the stronghold by afternoon.
Adam noticed it had thick walls made of stone and a large area around it was grassland. He heard one old adventurer explaining to someone else that this place and surrounding the villages were the actual origin of the Crimson Empire. That was the reason this place had great security and high defence.
Many roads were leading to different areas from the stronghold, and the surrounding area had a considerable number of small campsites. Adam realised this place was busy, although it was not at the same level as West Coast city, to an area without a town, the number of caravans and people gathered were extremely high.
Once they reached the intersection between the roads, a small group of guards stopped the carriages. And Karina, who had experience, immediately went to them. Adam realised he was lucky to travel with this group, as he had no way of proving a passable identity unless his clothes gave him some kind of miracle to impress the guards.
Adam wanted to see the Stronghold, which was the origin of the mighty Crimson empire. He realised this place might have a history of more than several thousand years, but now, he lacked time.
“Master Adam,” her tone has changed from awareness to great respect when addressing him.
However, the latter was confused about how he became master Adam.
“We are going to camp tonight? Would it be convenient for you to stay with us and move tomorrow?”
Karina also seems to be in a hurry as she also decided to camp out in the open rather than entering the stronghold. Still, Adam wondered why they were going to set up camp now. And the leader of the adventurers sensed his doubt.
“Group of Empire Cavalry will be moving to Westwood village; it will be good to travel with them,” she explained patiently, expecting some response from the man of few words.
“Something happened?” Adam wondered if something big was happening while he was travelling toward this place.
Empire cavalry were the highly mobile elites of the Crimson Empire. And he didn’t think they would act recklessly for no reason. He felt like it’s better to find his way to Westwood forest.
Karina’s eyes suddenly lit up. She felt like achieving a great victory. This man finally asked a question. She couldn’t help but smile.
“Four people have gone missing in the Westwood Village, Mr Adam. Honestly, we are also going there for the same purpose. There is a high reward for solving this matter,” She was not afraid to disclose this, as only adventurers were eligible for their quest rewards. And she did not believe even if this man was truly powerful, he could solve this matter alone.
Adam on the other hand was much more relaxed after hearing the news. In West Coast city more than fifty refugees were missing.
‘Probably because it’s a small village and the disappearance of four people must be a big issue,’ he thought.
And there was the fact this was the area of the origin of the empire itself. Therefore, it was not a big issue to see they were giving priority to this.
They camped with many other people who were staying outside, Adam still relied on Mr Han’s food and his half-awake, half-sleep method to spend the rest of the night.
…
The next morning, the journey was much more relaxed for almost everyone. As the group of Empire calvary made their way, much safer. Empire cavalry was a unit of the next level, unlike normal cavalry of the Black Dragon Empire, these warriors rode giant horned Bulls. Adam believed that normal horses would not be able to charge carrying these men, anyway.
Even Adam had to admit it was good to have a reliable group to travel. According to Karina, who was travelling with Adam today, even without these troops, the military often patrolled the roads from stronghold to villages. Yesterday incident was already reported to the stronghold by Karina and today the investigations would happen on the location.
Adam didn’t feel much optimistic about this, though if the other party had seen their group, they might be much more cautious from now on. And if they were strong enough and got provoked by the military, there was a good chance Karina might get ambushed on the way back. However, Adam kept these to himself. He felt that others were more experienced and had more knowledge in these parts of the world.
……………….
A couple of hours later, from the start of the journey, Adam noticed the vast tree line ending in the open fields. This time the High pass mountain was much closer and the thick trees extended all the way to the endless mountain range.
“Mr Adam, we are about to enter the Westwood forest,” confirming his theory, Karina gave him an assuring smile.
“The village is inside the forest?” The boldness of these people amazed Adam.
He had to admit, even though the Black Dragon empire was a military-focused country, compared to the Crimson empire, where people born with an innate talent for battle, they were far behind. Still, how bold was it to build a village inside the forest? Especially in a forest bordering the unexplored, mysterious mountain range.
“Mr Adam, don’t be surprised. Most of the villages in the area are inside the Westwood forest. But none of them is located too deep. Just in the boundary,” Karina gave him a satisfying explanation.
“Our military is mostly trained in these forests areas by hunting and fighting, that’s why some nations look at Crimson empire as barbarian lands,” she continued.
“Still, that is the reason our people are strong. Even if young people born in the cities, they have to stay here for at least a year if they want to join the empire’s army,”
‘No wonder,’ Adam looked at the Empire cavalry group in front of the carriage.
They looked much stronger and gave a weird sense of pressure compared to normal city guards. And by no means city guards were weak. He can’t imagine how strong were the Empire knights and Guardian knights.
Not long after they entered the path covered by the tree line and the same metallic sound rang in his brain.

Adam felt happy, worried and confused at the same time. The mission was completed, but there was a second phase? He was expecting this anyway. He didn’t accept his reward immediately, ‘what if I become a wolf forever?’ he didn’t want to be like that. However, a reply from the system made him speechless.

‘What kind of assessment is that I was just wondering,’ he complained silently before checking through the system

‘Does it affect me? And what should I upgrade?’ he started to wonder.
‘Maybe I should wait, he thought, looking at his poor strength and agility.’
Next, he wondered if he has any skills, weirdly enough he had two skills
Tracking (Basic) – Host is able to track and analyse fresh tracks (Upgradable – General points – 800 Skill points – 2)
Cooking (Basic) – Host is able to prepare a simple meal, nothing special (Upgradable - General points – 200 Skill points – 1)
He had points to upgrade tracking which will be at least useful but cooking was not going to help him much so he decided to save some points and decide later. Maybe he will be able to learn something related to combat.
As for the Abilities, since he didn’t accept system reward, there was none. He felt pity for himself. Because both tracking and cooking were the things he learned as a child and system count them as skill, that means he has no combat skills at all.
“Master Adam, we are here,” he suddenly heard Karina.
The next moment, it stunned him looking at the giant village in front of them.
‘Can they call this a village?’ sure the buildings were crude; roads were crude and only wooden walls.
However, the number of buildings extending far made him realise there should be at least several thousand people here, if not more.
‘No wonder they say the Crimson empire originated from here, if all the villages were like this there is no doubt about it,’ Adam thought, looking at the large number of people he could see through the open gates of the village.
Calvary made their way straight into the village, while they stopped the rest of the travellers at the gate. Adam noticed the village guards were not inferior to West Coast city guards. Maybe even better. Harsh conditions in the wild truly make tough men. He saw even the normal men in the village had something more than the natives on the West Coast.
He got off the carriage with the others, and within moments Village guards, cavalry and even normal people all noticed the unusual person in the group.
‘As expected,’ Adam sighed within.
The system clothes brought too much attention. If he was in something normal, no one would notice him with a small build compared to most men in the group. Even with his six-foot-tall figure was quite average without these clothes.
However, now, even the captain of the Empire cavalry turned back and started to approach him. This made Adam feel helpless,
‘Fuck, what to do’? he could feel his palms sweating.
Lucky for him, Karina was hellbent on winning Adam’s favour, and immediately stood up to Captain.
“Captain Carl, master Adam is with us,” she then got close to him and whispered something.
Adam had no idea that she was telling them that he was a 9th tier mage. However, he saw the giant man named Carl’s eyes lit up.
“Master Adam, allow me to introduce myself, I am Carl, second captain of East Stronghold Calvary. It’s an honour to meet you,” Adam lightly grabbed his extended hand.
“Adam,” he simply didn’t want to say about the Wolf God part.
“Mr Adam, are you here to look into missing people?” he asked hopefully. Adam was about to say no when the system made its move first.
-Optional Mission – Since you have established prestige as a man of the god, it’s time to defend innocents
- Mission target – Find the reason clues about missing people (within 3 days)
- Mission Reward – Depending on the performance extra rewards will be added
- Mission Failure – Losing the prestige of God will affect future missions
Adam gritted his teeth and muttered one word while cursing at the system
‘what prestige?’ I feel like a conman,’
“Yes,”
“Yes,”His word made the smile on Carl’s face grow even brighter. He was not optimistic about a 9th tier mage travelling with a group of adventurers. Still, he will have all the available help.Westwood Village was not some common village. All the men here are at least around 6th tier warriors. Therefore, the disappearances were not something to disregard.Another thing that Carl could feel was the weird sense of superiority coming from this mysterious man. He has to say he hated it because they were warriors. The Crimson empire had the least number of Magicians, assassins and even well-trained arches. Because they loved to rely on their strength. In the military, Magicians didn’t receive the same respect as a magic warrior who knew how to fight. “I will check the surroundings first,” Adam didn’t wait for his response. He wanted to get away from this awkward position. Also, he needed to get the system reward. Adam turned to the jungle, looking for a secluded place.Looking at his depa
Adam had no idea he had caused a scene as he arrived at the Westwood Village. After all, he was astonished by the magnificent village. Buildings and roads looked much older and historical. Most people wore simple clothes or animal skins.Since no one stopped him at the village gate, he simply walked in. And he looked at the giant men walking around. He felt, even with his new strength; he was inferior to these men. The village had no visible area for farming, and he assumed that these people must be mostly hunters.Adam suddenly heard numerous footsteps, and he could clearly say that at least fifty or sixty men were moving together.‘Hunting party?’He looked in the direction people were coming from, ‘Ehh, definitely not a hunting party.’ He saw a few familiar faces among the group. That included Empire Calvary and Village guards. ‘They must be investigating,’ he glanced again at the group approaching from far and got back to his business. He at least wanted to take some time to loo
It took them more than half an hour to prepare for the search. The final group was around a hundred people, including Karina’s adventurer group, Empire Calvary and village guards.Other than that. Hunters from the village, Old chief, and to Adam’s amusement, Sean, the old priest of the village also arrived with the search party. Some men carried heavy bags with food and water. Adam started to think that it might be a long night.“Master Adam, we are ready to go. Should we send scouts ahead?” Carl was worried about what they would find with the girl.“Just follow me,” Adam took the lead without thinking twice. It would be night soon, and the more he delayed the search, the more the girl would be in danger. He didn’t forget what was the description of the curse by the system. It was not some magic, but a curse created by world laws. He had no idea what that meant, but if the system was correct, the curse was much more dangerous than any magic.“We are ready to move,” Joran finally finis

‘One mission is over and another came right after,’ Adam wondered why there was another mission. And this time, there was no punishment for failing.‘I might fail this one,’ he thought, looking at the given duration. He didn’t wish to come with the source of the curse because he clearly remembered the words describing this curse. Someone created it.He decided to receive his new skill right now. First, a possibility system was giving him the abilities that were useful at the moment of completion of work. The next thing was the bracelet in his hand was created by human hair, and it had a wea
Other than old Sean who decided to stay and help, the others went away, giving Adam some room to work. Joran initially wanted to persuade him to rest, but with the current condition, it’s best that they resolved the problem fast. Therefore, they decided to let him work in the end.“Master Adam, can’t we send this to your church?” Sean was trying all measures to get it done.‘What church?’ Adam shook his head. “Not an option master Sean, this book says they destroyed the ones they found, which means there was more than one. We should find a way to do it ourselves or we will be in trouble again,” He was fully concentrating on the book while Sean was going through other books hoping to find the ritual.“I thought God will protect us, in the end, in his holy place this evil thing is still effective,” Sean said in a disappointed tone‘What god? Should I tell him the truth?’ Adam wondered halting his reading.‘Maybe I should,’ he decided“Your god is no longer here Master Sean, maybe when t
Sean walked out of the room with a complex heart. He had to report their finding to Joran. His god, God of Harvest, had abandoned them. Sean didn’t doubt Adam’s words. Mainly because, while all these disappearances happen in the village, he prayed, day and night, but never received any response. Most people in the village considered him as a madman for believing in gods. However, today, they were facing a challenge that mortals couldn’t face.Until Joran told them that a similar thing happened about 200 years ago, he did not know there was such a disaster. If people were living from that era, there could only be around a few hundred in all the Crimson Empire. What made him more depressed was that there was another God’s believer that could help them.“Sean, what happened?” He was deep in thought he did not know there were many people inside his old Church until Joran’s voice woke him from his daze.“Sigh, he has found the solution for the cursed bracelet,” he unintentionally let out a
‘Wait, what is happening?’ Adam panicked, feeling his power draining at an alarming rate. Finally, it stopped after several seconds. Still, Adam felt if he cast this spell about another four times, he would pass out.- Host’s Spirit is too low to handle the spellSurprisingly, the system answered him. ‘But it said spirit requirement is F+,’- Minimum requirement to cast the spell one time‘Damn’ he cursed silently. However, before he gets into the problem, he felt the strange feeling of burning from the braceletThe next moment, a wailing sound erupted within the bracelet and a cloud of thick black smoke rose, turning into a blurry humanoid figure. It made everyone lose their breath. It was the bloodcurdling feeling of cold and darkness brought by the wailing figure.Adam heard it talking, but he couldn’t make out any words. And after a few seconds, golden light covered the black figure, bursting it into flame only to leave nothing behind.Adam took a deep breath and tried to stabili
“Amazing.”Despite her words, the older girl saw several teardrops in the eyes of her little sister, and she didn’t say anything about that. The story was sweet and sour. She picked her up and held her against her chest. Their mother and father were talking with some other families in the distance. Many pilgrims and worshipers walked around them, and some were telling the same story as her. It was the story of a legend. “That is the story of the Great Blood Wolf.” The older girl ended the story, holding her younger sister’s hand in front of the massive statue of their Grand Empress and Her Consort. The Blood Wolf. “Oh….” Her little sister looked elated, looking at the massive statue of the couple. The greatest rulers of the world. She knew her sister would ask about this story again and again, but she was happy to see her little tail swinging in excitement. “Are you happy?” “Yes. I am very happy. I want to be as strong as the Grand Empress in the future.” “Of Course, you
“Grandfather?” The old man shook when he heard this call. He wanted to strangle this thing to death, but first, he needed an answer. “Why did you do that? Why did you kill my Grandson?” His face looked tired and battered. Time was not a concept for him, and he hoped to see his Grandchild someday. He came here because he almost felt the presence of his little boy. However, it wasn’t him. He looked at Chaos. He remembered the day when he first saw the two-headed infant drifting across the universe. Their first meeting wasn’t a good one. The first time he met him, this kid attacked him and even injured him. However, he treated Chaos as a child and even adopted him into the family. He grew up together with his only Grandson. They were great friends and family. His Grandson never treated Chaos badly. That was the reason he permitted Chaos to go with his Grandson when he left to become the first Guardian of the universe. He was the one who even granted this power to his Grandson on
Adam crashed onto the ground with full force. He didn’t want to slow down when he saw the hideous figure standing on the beach. He knew what it was. He gritted his teeth to ignore the head-splitting pain that came with the memories. He was finally looking at the nemesis of this world; Chaos. Adam wished he could end this thing with one blow. Because it was something that shouldn’t exist. He was betting the lives of too many people, and the life of the Empress. If he failed right now, he would fail the entire world forever. His punch landed inches away from his target, but that thing moved several metres away with ease. The ground shattered under his blow, and the foul stench of the chaos entered his nose. He finally understood why the world and Mahisha failed to access this ground. Because it was contaminated by Chaos. He already created armour around his body and coated his sword with the aura of the Abyss. He didn’t have a reason to drag this. ‘This is not going to be
“Still nothing, commander.” “What exactly is going on?” Morga Steelbeard was lost. Not in the sea, but in his own thoughts. After two long months in the sea, they finally found their destination. As the second fleet commander of the Crimson Empire, he had an army of his own. Although it was still not at the level of Sakura’s fleet with twelve warships and two supply ships; his seven-shipped fleet was the second powerhouse of the sea. The land was just ahead of them, but they failed to find anything even after searching for two days. The western continent looked desolate and abandoned. There were not even large animals. This was too alarming for him. They saw birds and small rodents, but nothing bigger than that. The forest looked untainted for generations. He didn’t even think about sending a landing party. The risk was too much. ‘What exactly is happening?’ They passed through the so-called barrier about a week back, and there was nothing in between the northern continent an
“We should leave!” “Yes, Your Majesty.” Adam smiled, looking at the Empress. He wondered how many changes she made within the day to the castle. “I changed the 12th floor entirely. You should go and see.” “I will, Your Majesty.” He was sure it would be a combination of blue, shades of blue, and some gold, white and silver, and more shades of blue. There was nothing more to think, but he knew way better than to voice it out. ‘It is a good thing I have Mahisha to help her.’ He wouldn’t get any time to train his powers if he had to change the Abyss castle by himself. He sometimes felt the Empress was playing with the castle because it could be changed based on her simple thoughts. He didn’t care much at all. As long as she was happy with it. When she came here for the first time, she had a lot of complaints about the dull colours and the bad choice of material. In the end, he had no choice but to let her handle the decorations and colours as she pleased. “Not now. We have
Adam moved fast and landed in the area he saw the camps. He simply nodded at the people who started greeting him,He already found Alex, and he didn’t seem to be alright. “My Lord!!”Adam nodded at David before entering the tent. Already, there were several healers around the bed, including Mila. ‘Not good.’He felt Alex’s breathing wasn’t stable. “What happened?”The people made way for him with ease.“My Lord. There seemed to be a weird poison.”“Poison?”He didn’t smell any poison, but he realised Alex was unstable. Someone had removed the clothes from his upper body. His veins could be seen on his chest and there was a back lump on his chest. The wound was gone, but he wasn't getting any better. “Hm… Divine power.”He didn’t expect the enemy to use such a weapon. If it was before, he would have had a hard time dealing with this, but not anymore. The divine power was just another source of power restricted to this world. Although it was the most powerful, it wasn’t powerful en
“Are you alright?”“Yes, Your Majesty.”Adam sat with the Empress, looking at the two girls playing on the beach. To him, knowing the truth didn’t hurt much. Rather, he felt relieved to know the truth. ‘Am I angry?’He couldn’t say no. He was angry. If he didn’t lose his father, things would have been much different for them. Maybe… Just Maybe… His mother could have survived. Of course, it would have changed many aspects of his life, including moving to the West Coast, but he wished his mother to be alive. However, knowing the Church of Light might be behind his father’s death didn’t sting as he thought it would. As for how he knew his father was dead; that was because of what he saw in the underground of the church. There were hundreds of dead bodies being held there, draining the liquids from the,He didn’t know what was the exact process, but he saw the so-called Life potion coming out of that facility. Besides, Helen confirmed this matter. ‘If not for Amy and Zafira, I would ha
“We have to run!” Oliver heard someone yelling, but he didn’t know what to do. “He followed the orders of the king, coming here to destroy the Summer Palace city. The reason was to simply buy them more time. According to the information they received, the army was led by the infamous three Generals of the Crimson Empire. Since the main army was already divided into three, there shouldn’t be enough power to fight against twenty 10th-tier powerhouses at the same time. Besides, the Crimson Empire army should have more than enough Dwarven machines to face them. However, there shouldn't be enough time to move them for a defensive battle or to mount them on a wall. In a sense, there was no way this city could stand against them. What really worried him was the results. They were doing all these things based on the assumption that the owner of the taboo name wasn’t as powerful as they said. However, he didn’t understand why they were underestimating the revenge of the Crimson Empi
Alex floated toward the north using his magic. He wasn’t as weak as he once was when he passed through the Summer Palace city long ago. However, it was a lie to say that he wasn’t afraid. Their original battle plan was to separate their enemies by attacking the different parts of the Blood Baron Kingdom at the same time. Also, by using a portion of their units and the help of the Kingdom of Boria, they should have been able to delay the reinforcements from the other five kingdoms. Lady Helen was to show herself at the Dwarven mountain to create a distraction and intimidation. That wasn’t all. He was the one that took out the enemy scouts near the borders of the Crimson Empire with ease. Then he asked for the help of Lady Helen to take on the Wind Hold city to prevent any news from leaking to the rest of the city. He knew their enemies would realise the threat once the army was divided and Lady Helen fortified the Dwarven mountain. It all went as they planned, but he realised h
