Chapter 5.

Two days later, the headline, “One of the Ashland Twins Takes Over Ashland Company And Co.”  his name wasn’t mentioned in the newspaper.

“Nonsense!”  Marshal Greenwood bellowed angrily, “Are my eyes deceiving me? Is this a mistake, they don’t know which of the twins?” He scoffed.

Marshal Greenwood was the owner of The Greenwood Insurance company and aside that, he also owned an Hotel located in the heart of New York.

He hated the Ashland family and sees them as nothing but prideful people and ever since William Ashland had turned down his offer of partnering with him saying the hotel he owned would yield him thousands of money and not millions and he would rather partner with his insurance company than the hotel.

That had hurt Marshal Greenwood feelings that William Ashland had disrespected him and his businesses.

Also, his good for nothing son had scammed him, coming to him with fake papers and bringing two fake representatives with him, posing like he worked for his father and Marshal had signed the fake partnership papers and even paid the five hundred thousand dollars for a partnership start up to Blaze’s bank account.

He had gone to bank to complain and there was only one bank account name with, “Ashland Company and Co.”

Marshal had lost his money and till date, he believed that William knew about the whole set up and he was just covering up for Blaze.

Marshal would not let it go. He rubbed his chin and smiled sinisterly. He was plotting his payback and this time, Blaze wouldn’t go scot free.

Marshal suspected a foul play and called up his main man, Karim, to confirm what he had read in the paper. His main man, Karim had told him to confirm from a source inside the Ashland Company and Co.

Karim had called his girlfriend who was the secretary at Ashland Company and co, although he wasn’t straightforward about who the informant was with Marshal his boss, Karim was a scared that his boss might turn against the him and he didn’t want to put his girlfriend life in danger. Even Karim himself, is treading carefully because to Marshal Greenwood, his life meant nothing and he wouldn’t hesitate to put a bullet through his head.

“You mean, they haven’t seen who their boss is?” Marshal berated, turning to look at Karim who pretended to be busy on the tablet.

“Yes, according to the inside man, he said he’s always behind the scene and doest show his face.” Karim spoke calmly.

“That means it’s the rogue twins. It’s about time I strike back.”

“It’s simple. He’s meeting a client at the Greenwood Hotel.” The main man said, holding the tablet for keeping tabs in his hands.

“We will send him a warning then.”  Marshal said. “It’s time Philip Black repay his debt.”

He was part of a family, an elite group, “Fearless.”

He dialed one of close member’s number and waited for him to pick up.

“Greenwood?”

“Black, I need your help.”

“I am always ready because I owe you one.” Phillip Black replied.

“Very well then,” Marshal chuckled and explained the reason why he had called.

“It shouldn’t take up to an hour to figure out his location and by the time he’s fished out, he will be dead. You’d hear in the news on television.” Philip Black assured him and marshal hung up the phone.

That evening, Brooklyn wanted to go home but his personal assistant at work reminded him that he had a brief meeting with a client at Greenwood Hotel.

Brooklyn was skeptical about meeting this client in person but nevertheless he allowed Darlene to drive him down to the Greenwood hotel, he had gone looking ordinary but well dressed, he even smiled at the receptionist and told her that his boss had sent him to represent him for the meeting that would take place in a short while. He flashed her a small smile before entering the lift and punching in the floor number he was stopping at.

Brooklyn had gone without disguise and yet, no one recognize him as the son of William Ashland.

While the meeting was going on in the restaurant inside the hotel building, two black cars parked outside, The client Brooklyn was talking to over the audio call could see them clearly from where he sat with his personal assistant, they were dressed in a black pant suit and turtle neck shirt with black mackintosh, and dark spectacle, all of them had the same straight face and same hairstyle.

They were the assassin league.

They walked the same way and the client alerted Brooklyn that they would need to suspend their calls as chaos was about to happen, the client saw that they were headed for him, just as they were about to reach him, the female leader of the assassin league readied her gun and was about to fire, the man’s guards held his clothes from behind and made him duck while the shots flew all over the place.

Two out of the assassin league was shot and instantly dead causing the leader and the other one to abort mission and fled the scene, abandoning the dead ones.

Darlene was in the restaurant, dining, she was behind the client and she could see the assassin’s eyes as she tried to fled the scene without getting noticed.

She was able to slip away to her boss, as soon as he lets her in, “What the hell is going on out there.”

“I don’t know. I think they came for you.”

“Me? Who the fuck knows me.” Brooklyn hissed.

“I’m just saying. Whatever went down there, it’s not good. And this is Mason Greenwood Hotel. No blood shedding. This is war with whoever had sent those people.”

“This is too early for me.” Brooklyn said, sighing.

“It is what it is, you gotta face it.. I got you boss.” Darlene said.

Brooklyn wondered if she will ever be a whole woman again with her stud attitude, but then he was glad that she swore to be his third eye and she was doing pretty well.

Brooklyn had returned back to his villa, his mind wasn’t settled he was thinking about what had happened earlier today and what could be the main reason but he had no answer and logical reasoning to explain the situation, his client had called an hour ago that the meeting should be rescheduled.

He was also bothered about Greenwood Hotel and the news would have gone round that the top rule of the hotel had been broken. “No shooting and Killing.”

According to Darlene, she said if the owner of the Hotel finds whoever was behind the attack, he would not hesitate to put a bullet through his head.

Mason Greenwood was a brutal man.
