“I know.” Melissa nodded, “But you heard the conversation, or part of the conversation, between me and Kelvin. Right?”

Caroline swallows hard. “Yes, Mom. I won’t lie to you.”

“Excellent.” Melissa sits at her desk. “Let’s discuss it then.”

“Mom, some crazy woman slapped Helen in the middle of the square because she thought you were cheating on my Dad with Kelvin and Helen defended you. At the very least, you owe Helen an apology.”

Melissa’s eyes widened. “Why do you think I have any blame for this? I visited Kelvin to talk about Felipe harassing you and wanting you as his girlfriend!”

Caroline has a hard expression. “Why did you have to get involved?”

“Because you are my daughter!” Melissa was shocked. “Honey, I don’t understand what you’re getting at.”
