Vera is impatient with Beto taking advantage of the moment to demand that she get a divorce.
"I do not believe!" She screams, "You didn't wait for Wally's trial to demand that!"
Beto raises his eyebrows, "Do you still call the criminal by his nickname?"
Vera steps back and keeps her back to him, "Well, he's still my husband."
"This marriage needs to be annulled as he just wanted to get back at us." Beto reminds her firmly, "He doesn't love you, Vera!"
That sounded too much for her. In the frenzy, she turns to her brother: "But I love him!"
Beto thinks it's a joke. "You have got to be kidding me!"
"You're the one who doesn't understand my situation!"
"What situation?"
"Pamela is with you. She won. We made a plan against her, but she was victorious and I was defeated. If I stay with Wally, then she won't feel victorious, got it?"
But, Beto didn't understand. He puts a hand to her forehead to see if she is delirious
Vera gets angry and walks away from her older brother. "What are you doing? Get your hand off my forehead; I don't have a fever!""That's what it looks like," Beto says incredulously, "you're delirious with fever because you think you can still defeat Pamela.""She won't laugh at my face being married while I'm a spinster!"Beto crosses his arms and narrows his eyes, "What about that other guy?""Adrian Barbosa?" Vera had already forgotten about him."What happened to him? Have you ever dumped him after you managed to pervert yourself?"Vera is sure not to slap Beto. "He met Pamela and she told the whole truth!"Beto bursts out laughing. "So, sis, go back to the nightclub and meet another idiot, but don't get your hopes up for reconciliation with Wallace. He won't want you back. As a matter of fact, he never wanted you.""How dare you?" Vera screams crazy."If you had to get the guy drunk and lie to him that you guys mad
Adrian is calling a customer who wants to cancel an apartment sale."Why are you thinking of committing this atrocity, my lord? Hadn't we agreed that you were making the best purchase of your life?" He hears, "Yes, but we paid the price in installments, you agreed to pay the down payment!" He hears, "Oh, you were robbed in the bank... yes, I heard the news on the radio while listening to Queen..."Bruno approaches Adrian with a serious expression. He was wearing a long-sleeved dress shirt and a patterned tie.Laerte had promoted Bruno to head of the sales team where Adrian was part, because of the success in sealing the partnership between them and Silva Construction."How's it going with this sale, Adrian?""Alright sir, I'll call tomorrow to see what you're up to." He hangs up, "I'm about to miss this sale. My client was going to pay for the apartment, but he was involved in that robbery.""If he doesn't pay, Laerte won't pay you the commi
Melissa and Dora are horrified to see Flávia slap Elza, a young lady attacking an older lady.Flávia notices the presence of the two and immediately defends herself: "Cousin! You arrived just in time! I'm defending myself from the aggression of this abusive woman!""But what's going on here?" Dora yells, "I'm seeing the exact opposite!"Elza sits on the sofa and says nothing for now."Elza, are you alright?" Melissa approaches her mother-in-law."I'm fine, darling. I've been through insults with classier people."Flavia explodes with anger: "This bastard is always humiliating and diminishing me, I couldn't control myself! She slapped me first!"Dora approaches Flávia and confirms the red slap mark on her niece's face. She looks at Melissa and nods.Melissa takes a deep breath: time to control the situation like Mrs. Rocha.***Adrian and Vera enter Crystal Blue for lunch. Stacy is surprised to
Stacy is extremely upset at having to attend to former enemies in the restaurant as a waitress."Sir, you must be Adrian Barbosa, the guy who bothered the entire construction team when building your father's house. I'm aware of the story. The question is: do you still remember that story? That was in 1982!""I still remember that if it weren't for my father's kindness your little boyfriend would be unemployed!" Adrian growls. At this moment Marcelo appears in the hall and sees Stacy standing at the table."It would be even better so he'd be back to soccer early. Did you follow last year's championship?"Adrian withers in spite. "Yes, but naturally I cheered for my neighborhood team.""Who was defeated 5 to 0, ha, ha, ha!" Stacy laughs, attracting the attention of other customers.Marcelo gently approaches Stacy. "Everything okay around here, Stacy?"Stacy finally remembers she's on duty. "Oh sir, it's all right! I'm handing out
Adrian and Vera are almost finished with their shrimp risotto. So far they've only talked about Wallace's arrest and her misadventure."Vera, I'm so sorry you went through a humiliating situation." Adrian finally expresses condolences, "If we were a real couple, you would have another story."Vera gulps down the wine she asked for and takes a deep breath. "Well, we never got a chance to talk about it. Adrian, understand that I needed to sleep with you to keep lying to my husband that he was my first man."Adrian is red in the face with irritation. "But that's absurd, Vera! You still speak of the criminal with sweetness and respect. Can't you see that it was exactly what you did to me that made him turn into a monster? And I didn't like being used in a plan either.""Oh, you mean only men can use women?" Vera asks without a sense of the absurd."No one should deceive anyone, that's the answer." Adrian asserts grimly, "I believed you were interested.
Melissa turns the radio back on and turns the knob until she tunes to the song "Broken Wings" by Mr. Mister. Flávia feels challenged by this action."From now on, don't use the radio in the house anymore. Buy yours or listen on your walkman, in the calm of your room. That way my mother-in-law has nothing to complain about.""What if she breaks into my room and demands that I listen to Mozart?" Flavia spits out the words."She won't do that, as my mother is talking to her. I'll look for information about bus departures at the Bus Station for you to leave tomorrow."Dora and Elza return to the living room and find the discussion. Elza slyly smiles at the maid."Are we interrupting?" Dora asks."No, Mom. We've already reached a consensus." Melissa approaches Elza, "Dear mother-in-law, please apologize to Flávia. She's leaving for Victoria and will never touch the stereo again."Elza holds back a laugh. She thinks Flavia was
At the arrivals platform at Rodoviária de Vitória, a first-class bus stops coming from Lagoon City. Adolfo, Mirtes, and William are waiting for Flávia to disembark. When she gets off the bus, only Mirtes remains standing there with the same sour face as the men approach to greet her."Daughter, good to see you again!" Adolfo hugs his daughter."And I hope it's forever!" Mirtes cackles.Flavia, however, only has eyes for her beautiful and hunky cousin. "You dare stand before me in this boring shirt?"William smiles, "I have to show respect."Flávia flirts him cluelessly: "I bet you stay naked in your hotel room!""Don't bet, you'll lose!" William responds by laughing, not joining in the immorality."Erh, let's get your bags, daughter?" Adolfo cuts off the bizarre conversation and goes to the bus to get her bags.As the men pick up their bags, Mirtes approaches his daughter, frowning as usual: "
William is horrified to see his uncle's house. When he was a child, he and Melissa used to be taken by their parents to visit relatives in the Capital. They knew that the neighborhood was poor and that the Teixeira family house was also poor. However, now in 1986, William realizes that the house has never progressed or been renovated. Everything has deteriorated: the walls are moldy, the paint is peeling, the floor is grimy, the columns are bulging and corroded by the sea air, the weeds in the backyard are untamed, and the accumulated garbage attracts rats and centipedes.A pile of newspapers beside Adolfo's torn armchair indicates that he has been trying to look for decent jobs through the wanted-ads.When he enters Flávia's "room", he feels sorry for the old bed, the mattress full of mites, the grimy sheets, and the crooked wardrobe with warped drawers. "Is here where I keep your clothes?"Flávia closes the door and smiles mischievously at
