True colours:

“Huh?” the young man stared at us, dumbfounded. I smirked, everything suddenly became clear to me. No wonder they left this guy here, he knew about the underground lab but the information he knew was different.

This was a brilliant strategy on the masterminds part, after all, if this man was to be the stand-in CEO, he would find out about the underground lab and he might want to snoop around.

This was humans nature, curiosity. But by telling him what was supposedly in the lab and by giving him a key, which I'm sure he has, they totally quenched his curiosity.

This made it so that the underground lab would just seem like any other lab and make it unappealing to the mind.

“Hey, cut the nonsense pretence, we know about it all already.” Thomas yelled at the young man. He flinched and his fear returned in full force.

“Calm down, Thomas. He's right, or at least he believes he is.”
