Ch-41 : Aroma

Jack's mind was running at the fastest speed it could manage after just ten minutes of him getting out of bed, in order to solve this mystery. Even though he was still feeling a bit groggy, he followed the captivating aroma wafting through the house.

His mother was definitely a good cook, but her declining health, along with her injury just weeks ago, meant she was no longer capable of preparing such elaborate meals whose aroma was teasing his senses.

Thanks to the delicious smell, his mind drifted back to cherished memories of his childhood.

He remembered waking up to the smell of freshly made waffles and pancakes, lovingly prepared by his mother. The memory filled him with warmth and nostalgia, reminding him of simpler times when his biggest worry was finishing his homework before school.

He recalled sitting at the kitchen table, eagerly awaiting his breakfast, while his mother bustled about the kitchen, humming a tune to herself.
