Ch-6 : Dominance!

No matter what the intentions of the client were, this condition about splitting the money was not acceptable to the killers.

Especially the assassin who had brought his arsenal of weapons to display his range of skills. He regularly updated his stash of weapons, considering it as an investment in his profession.

But when beggars like this had the audacity to show up empty handed, it was an insult to the entire industry! And naturally, he was pissed off to even think about giving him a single dollar from his hard- earned money!

Although he was new to this, he wasn't a fool!

Thinking this, he nonchalantly slipped a hand into his pocket. The others couldn't understand what had caused this sudden change in his body language, and before they could find out the reason behind it, the subtle click of a gun being loaded was heard.

He moved swiftly, closing the distance between himself and the client. He gestured subtly towards the concealed weapon, a silent warning for the client to behave according to his wishes.

He spoke in a raspy voice,

"Listen, lady! You better be careful with your words. And if I'm still in a good mood, maybe I'll let you walk away after this is done."

The client becane acutely aware of the potential danger when she caught a glimpse of the gun's shape through the assassin's jacket pocket.

Fear silenced her completely, leaving the client at the mercy of the very individuals she had hired.

The assassin, however, had more sinister intentions. Not only did he want her to shut up about the idea of splitting the money, but he was actually planning to force this beautiful client into his bed, after killing the target.

If he had done what she asked, it was only fair to expect that she would also do whatever he wanted and please him, right?

He was also aware that in the world of crime, people's worth was evaluated on the basis of strength. No matter how nervous he was, he could not reveal the slightest weakness, or he would be kicked out ruthlessly.

In fact, he needed to assert his dominance the first chance he got, so that everyone knew who was in charge and nobody would dare to question him in the future.

"This rascal is not a professional, not from any angle! So ask him to leave immediately, without trying to claim any part in the bounty. Anyway, asking me to share the money with someone like him is a waste of time."

The tension in the air became thick enough to be cut with a knife, as the assassin asserted his dominance.

At this point, Jack obviously knew that he should better prove himself, to avoid this situation from escalating.

But he just didn't feel like it. After all, he hadn't beat someone up for a long time, and it seemed like a pretty good option to release some of his frustration.

Besides, he was still standing quite far away, so he wasn't in any immediate danger.

Thinking all this, Jack asked with an expression of confusion;

"I'm not sure, what do you mean? What waste?"

By now, it was clear that the killer had started to get too impatient.

This bastard with the shaved head and red eyes like a drug addict – why was he even here if he didn't know what he was asking him?

As soon as this thought appeared in his mind, the killer decided that he would scare away his idiot on his own.

He took a couple of steps towards Jack, pointing towards his pocket where the gun was locked and loaded, ready to be fired.

Maybe this bum would run away on his own, if he took one careful look!

But Jack continued to play dumb,

"What– what are you trying to say?"

He then continued in a mock angry voice,

"What the hell is your problem, man? Don't you have a tongue, or are you too scared to speak?"

Jack was intentionally trying to provoke the killer, to give him a chance to be angry.

And his methods worked like a charm, because the killer became furious within seconds.

"You dumb son of a bitch!"

He cursed at Jack, while directly pulling out the gun from his pocket this time.

"Let me show you what I mean, then you will understand exactly who should be scared of whom!"

He was about to put the barrel of the gun against Jack's head, but the moment he flung out the gun, Jack lifted his own hand and took a sharp swing, knocking the gun out of his hands.

Without giving him a chance to recover from the shock, he used his other hand to push the killer's head downwards. At the perfect timing, he raised his knee upwards, smashing the killer's nose violently.

The man barely managed to stagger up, with streams of blood flowing down his face due to the broken nose. However, just as he stood straight, Jack landed a hard punch on his chin.

A loud crack resonated through the empty basement, and the killer ultimately fell to the ground, having lost consciousness.

Jack rubbed his hands together before he lowered himself and slowly began to search the killer's body.

One by one, he pulled out a pistol that was kept inside his holster, another two- shot small gun, the back waist of the 1911, and threw them on the ground, making a pile.

Nobody dared to make a sound as he picked up a handful of guns from this pile, claiming as his own.

Once he was satisfied, Jack kicked the remaining guns in the direction of the burly killer,

"Here! I've taken what I wanted, now you can take this."

But to his surprise, the burly man didn't even say a single word, and just turned around, running away in fear. After seeing how easily this man had knocked out the man who had brought all these guns, he didn't want to take any chances.

Meanwhile, the one person had actually called all three of them there, had slowly started backing away step- by - step when the clash had started. She broke out into full sprint when she saw the other man run away, but Jack quickly caught up to her.

He placed a hand on her shoulder to stop her, and the woman froze in her tracks out of fear. She turned around with a sudden jerk, feeling like her own life was at risk.

The sudden forceful movement caused her bun to come loose, and her long black hair slipped out, falling on her back.

But she couldn't care less about that right now, as she was looking at Jack with wide, fearful eyes like a startled deer.

He sensed what her thoughts were, and hurriedly explained,

"Relax, you have nothing to worry about. I am different than the trash people who hurt their own clients. There are certain rules in this trade, and my work ethic will never allow me to violate them."

The woman looked at him like she had many questions swirling in her mind, but she didn't know whether it would be a good idea to ask him.

Jack didn't give her any opportunity to ask, as he was desperate for money, and had too little time to explain anything further.

So he decided to just cut to the chase;

"Why are you hiring me for this job?"

When he didn't receive any response, Jack pressed further.

"I'm not asking this to chit chat! In order to complete the assignment as efficiently as possible, I need to know if the enemy I will be facing would be armed and dangerous."
