The King's words the other day were still ringing in my head, along with his seriousness about getting rid of Elliot if the man still insisted on having a relationship with Adellia.

Now I was in the reading room, accompanying Adellia who had been working on something in her files for a while. I sat on the sill of the wide open window through which a breeze blew that somehow didn't feel fresh.

I was too worried and scared about all of this. I had just finished my duty of feeding the prisoners, and the old woman who had spoken the prophecy was suddenly hissing and muttering in a language I didn't recognize. I was also worried that all the prisoners knew my identity as someone who wasn't from this world, and I really hoped that the cloths covering their heads weren't transparent so that they could see my face.
