116: Renovating the Orphanage

The ZBC Orphanage in Los Angeles was still the same old three-story building, weathered and worn. Inside, it was structured like a large classroom. The orphanage now housed around sixty to seventy children, ranging in age from a few months to late teens. Willy and his group pulled up at the orphanage’s gate in their cars, and as he stepped out, a rush of memories flooded back. The rusty iron gate, the two lush trees that stood proudly in the yard, and the worn-out swing set, merry-go-round, and stone tables—all places where he’d spent countless hours as a child.

On the second floor, there was a room with a bed that Willy had slept in throughout his childhood. This place held so many traces of him, like an imprint of his past.
