Mabel Sanders woke up to the her notification sound alerting her to the entry of a new message. She woke up and noticed that she had neither taken a shower nor changed into her night wear before she had slept off, matter of fact, she was still fully dressed; clothes, shoes, jewelry and all. She hadn't even placed her phone on charge. She looked at the phone screen and had barely registered that it was well past 11pm and getting on for 12am, before her beeping red battery caught her attention and she realized her phone was at 1%. Suddenly alert, she shot up and off the bed and scrambled to the other side of her bed where her phone charger was. In her rush, she briefly forgot about the fact that she still had on her shoes which were a pair of five inches high stiletto heels and she came crashing to the ground immediately she got off the bed and to her feet. She cussed and got on her knees and began to crawl to get to her charger. She got to her phone charger and tried to connect her cha
Mabel Sanders was up and out of her bed as early as 6:30am. She would just quickly brush her teeth and freshen up then head to the shop to get her dress tried on and fitted. She walked into her bathroom and brushed her teeth then quickly splashed some water onto her face before she walked out of her bathroom and into her closet. She walked out few minutes later wearing a pair of purple sweatpants with a matching purple sweatshirt and an inner black t-shirt. She picked up her car keys from the top of her dresser, went to her bedside table to pick up her phone and her purse then she headed out of her room and out of the house. She got into her car, pulled up the name of the shop and entered it into her GPS and set out. Along the way, she stopped briefly to get herself a much needed cup of coffee and few minutes later, she pulled into the parking lot of the shop, got out of her car and headed into the shop. She received a warm welcome from the receptionist and pulled up the details of he
"So, care to share what this meeting is about Ms. Sanders?" he asked and leaned forward "I mean, given our history you definitely couldn't have asked to see me for a catch up chat." he finished and raised his right brow mockingly.Mabel stiffled the urge to respond with the sudden anger and irritation she felt. This Chris was definitely a handful. Why, the boldness and arrogance of the obnoxiously pompous brat!!!"No sir," she said with a bright blinding smile which Chris barely noticed or acknowledged. "I requested for this meeting to discuss something really important and of great concern to me," she paused then gave him a thoughtful look before adding "And I imagine it will be of great concern to you too, Mr. Chris," she finished."Oh?" Chris responded and raised his right brow again "Interesting," he said with a nod "Alright then, let's have it," he said and leaned back into his chair "The floor is yours and you have my full attention, so, shoot." he finished and stared at her
Mabel Sanders and Chris Bolton walked out of the Pink Flame Jazz Bar by exactly 1:30pm and with a brief and nonchalant nod to each other, they went their separate ways. Mabel Sanders got into her car, brought the engine to life and pulled out of the parking lot and gently steered her way back into the stream of vehicles on the main road.Chris Bolton headed to his own car where Rose was waiting for him in the driver's sit. He opened the door to the front passenger sit and got in. Whenever he stepped out for a casual social meet up with Rose and didn't take his usual escorts, he preferred to ride up front with Rose. Matter of fact, even with the other vehicle of escorts present, he still still in the preferred to ride up front with her. He only refrained from doing that in extremely formal settings and social gatherings where he knew eyes would be on him. He had barely even had to get in properly and shut the door before she spoke."So, how did that go?" she asked "What did our littl
The rest of the ride to the Bolton's Mansion was filled with small absentminded banter between the group of four who were each distracted with their racing thoughts. Soon enough Rose pulled into the driveway of the Bolton's Mansion and came to a stop in front of the door, but no one made a move to get down from the car. They were all well aware of the presence of the proverbial elephant in the room but none of them wanted to be the first to bring it up so they sat in silence for almost two minutes until Sarah, being the most impatient one of the four, eventually decided she had just about had enough of the heavy silence and pulled the plug on the silence by clearing her throat to speak up."Look, Chris, we all know the right thing to do is to tell Mr. Michael Bolton" she started and Chris let out a breath "But then again, we are your friends and I believe our loyalty is first to you, at least I know mine is." she paused briefly then continued. "While we all know what the right thing
Mrs. Yvonne walked away from Chris and headed to the kitchen after explaining that on Mr. Michael Bolton's instruction, she had actually been on her way to ask that one of the maids take up a glass of orange juice to him. She had told Chris to wait for her so they could head up to Mr. Michael Bolton's quarters together on her return. As soon as she left, Sarah spoke up."Are you absolutely you don't want us present with you when you tell him?" She asked as she looked up at Chris."Yes Sarah, I'm sure." Chris said and smiled at her with a nod. "I'll handle this myself." he finished just as Mrs. Yvonne came into view as she headed to them. "You ladies can head to the garden and someone can ask the maids to get us some snacks and drinks. You don't have to wait for me. Dig in. I'll just quickly see dad and head out to join you ladies." he finished just as Mrs. Yvonne got to them and without wasting time, they both headed for the stairs and began their ascent."Would you want to change
Chris Bolton sat on his bed in his room and stared at the wall opposite him. He could already tell that the day was going to be a really slow day and he was most certainly sure he wasn't going to enjoy it. Matter of fact, on a general note things had been surprisingly really slow. It had been two weeks since he had met up with Mabel Sanders and since he had given the report of the meeting to his father, Michael Bolton. He thought back to the meeting with his father in his study and smiled.TWO WEEKS AGO IN MICHAEL BOLTON'S STUDY"Knowing Arthur, he won't stop at just getting the money to clear off his debts, he will probably run the company down and make away." Chris finished.Michael Bolton remained quiet and absorbed all that his son had just said to him. It was a lot to take in but something wasn't right: why was Mabel Sanders suddenly trying to side with them over Arthur McDoyle?? It was more natural to think of her joining him to execute his plan and making away with him than
Chris stayed in his position and pondered some more then he stood up and walked walked to his window and looked out. For some reason, he still felt off about Arthur McDoyle. Granted, when he actually thought about it, there was nothing to concern him, he really had nothing to be so bothered about, nothing looked out of the ordinary but still something felt off and not right and it nagged at him. He had even been speaking with Mabel Sanders more frequently in the past two weeks, just to check in with her and know that she if she had heard from Arthur and the results of those check in had always been the same; no, Arthur still hadn't reached out and she hadn't either and yes, she would be sure to reach out to Chris immediately and let him know if she heard from Arthur or got wind of any suspicious activity that involved him. The last two check ins however, had ended with her telling him that she was probably just being scared or paranoid but she was beginning to feel like Arthur had got
