Shane Eisen was sitting in his office reviewing a new proposal that had come in to make a bid with the DREADNOUGHT INVESTMENT group for a new building in Durres. If they could secure this contract, it would be a huge boost to the company. Thus far it looked like things might actually work out, and in this, his niece Roisin possibly had some benefits. Her female figure was quite the eye candy for local businessmen and Shane was sure that is why the Dreadnought Investment CEO, Liam, had been willing to sit through several rounds of negotiation with Roisin so far. While a final agreement had not been reached, if Liam was willing to sit through this many pitches, it was a good sign. Many businessmen could not even get a meeting with such a person!

Just then, his phone rang with a number he did not recognize.

(If you are not reading this on the GoodNovel app or site, you are on a stolen site, and not supporting the real author)

“Hello, the is Shane with Eisen Group.”

“Dad! You have to come to get me!”

“Jay, where are you at? What number is this?” asked Shane Eisen, startled.

“Dad, some neuropathy of a madman was at the construction site. Somehow, he managed to convince the police I was the one trespassing, and now I am in jail for it! They even set a 100,000 bail! Get me out of here!” said jay in shaking speech. He was scared to death as well and pissed off and embarrassed. What if it got out that he had been arrested? He neglected to mention the assault on an officer…

“Jay, what the hell did you do? people do not arrest our family for trespass!” Shane was confused and angry at the same time. He had a decent amount of connection around town and everyone knew him and his son.

“Dad I don’t know but please get me out! I don’t want to be in here with these people!” wailed jay.

“ok, ok, I can source the funds, but it may take a minute. It would not be good to have the company seen to bail you out. I will be over as soon as I can.” Replied Shane Eisen.

At that moment the line went dead. Jay’s phone time had expired. DAM.

Shane was furious. Who would dare have his son arrested? With his network, people in this town should know not to do something so dumb.

He quickly went down to the financing department and had $100,000 transferred onto his personal card for “business expenses.”

After that was complete, he rushed over to the jail building.

Durres was a growing town but was still a comparatively small coastal town. Its port was large industry but otherwise, this town was still only a third-tier compared to others. Because of this, while there was a jail, it was relatively small.

Upon arriving, Shane Eisen walked directly to the window and demanded to speak to the captain.

“Sir, please wait your turn. The captain is busy right now. If you have a certain person you are here to see, just tell us their name so we can start the paperwork,” said the receptionist.

“Do you have any idea who I am and who you have arrested?! I am Shane Eisen of the Eisen Group! You are holding my Son! This is unacceptable! Tell that captain of yours to get us there right away!” screamed Shane Eisen.

“Sir, please calm yourself. If you continue to cause a scene, I will have to send officers out and it will not end well.” Replied the receptionist in a tone that suggested she would prefer to send the officers out after this pompous twit.

Shane Eisen forcibly calmed himself. It would do his son no good to get himself arrested.

He waited for ten minutes as several other people came in and out to visit inmates or pay off tickets.

Finally, someone called out “EISEN, is there an EISEN here?”

“bless you” called someone from across the room.

Shane Eisen approached the counter again, looking annoyed at the other visitors.

“I am Shane Eisen. You have my son Jay. I would like to speak to your supervisor and discuss why he was arrested.”

“yes sir, the watch supervisor has agreed to meet with you, please come around through the door, he will be in with you shortly.”

Shane went to the large metal door and when he heard the buzz, opened it, and meet a young officer on the other side.

“this way sir, you are to wait in room 2. Your son will be brought up shortly and then the watch commander will be in to discuss. Do you have a lawyer meeting you?”

“A lawyer? Is it really so serious?” asked Shane. He had thought about calling a lawyer but surely it wasn’t needed. Just pay enough to stop things from being filed, and this would go away.

“Sir, your son assaulted two police officers while they were trying to remove him for trespassing. This can be a serious offense,” said the officer seriously.

“Assault on an officer? My son?” Shane was thunderstruck. This was a serious charge indeed! Jay had not mentioned any of this! And trespass? Was he not on their own company site!?

When Jay finally joined his father in the interrogation room, he rushed over and said

“Dad, you brought the money, right? We can go home?”

“Jay, what is this about you assaulting officers? That is a serious charge.” Asked Shane Eisen.

“O dad, it was that mental case at the site that caused all this. I was getting agitated at him, and just accidentally hit the officer, they took it way too seriously. Besides why did they arrest me instead of the neuropathy at our site?” was Jay's response.

“Well for starters, Eisen Group did not own that site anymore!” said a voice from the door.

Father and son turned to see the watch commander walking in with a thick file folder.

“sit, and we can discuss,” said the watch commander.

“for starters, it seems clear you have no idea what kind of powers you have provoked,” said the commander.

“Powers? What are you talking about? You know my Eisen family is famous here in Durres. We do not have any issues with anyone, and in fact, I have many highly placed contacts!” Said Shane bewildered.

“You think too small my friend. Yes, indeed here in Durres, you are a famous family. However, not all that fame is as positive as you like to think. Your Eisen group is known, but the power of such a name as Eisen Group only holds sway in the above-ground world of Durres. There is the greater Durresian county, Placida province area, not to mention the whole of the southeast region, and names that even span the sky of the whole country. You are only a small fish in the bottom of the bucket of the city of Durres which itself is a small city compared to the providential capital city Tirana. Tirana is even considered small when you compare it to the national capital of Orynth,” said the Watch commander.

“Commander, what are you saying? Somehow my son provoked some big shot whose hand covers the sky?” asked Shane in stunned awe and disbelief. Shane figured if his son had seen such a big boss, he would surely know to keep his head down and not cause issues.

“How can it be? The only person I have seen today is that day laborer at our site.” Spouted Jay Eisen.

“As for who you met today, I have no idea. But that site is not yours. From the report, I got from my men, and the call I received from the division chief, it is clear that the site is controlled by people with far more pull than you can imagine. While the officers were on site, a call was placed to inform everyone that that site was under the control of the DREADNOUGHT INVESTMENT group, which is now under the ownership of the Fire Dragon CORP. You must understand, the DREADNOUGHT INVESTMENT by itself is a huge corporation, and we are fortunate that they chose Durres for their headquarters. As a multibillion-dollar corporation, Dreadnought Investment works throughout the providence. For them, the EISEN Group is just a small family business not worth their notice. So, for you to make trouble on their site, is huge. But now that they are wholly controlled by a consortium that has such a large background, it is tantamount to asking for death.  You are fortunate that they did not bother to file any charges against you. This means you are just here on our charges of assaulting an officer. But it was suggested that if we do not handle this case properly, it would be catastrophic for our departments.” With that, the commander sat back and watched the father and son’s reactions.

Both had noticeably paled.  Such a big name bought their site? When did this happen? Had they caused other trouble for the EISEN group’s future because of this?

“Jay, please tell me you did not say too much during this interaction or throw around the EISEN name?” asked Shane.

Jay just looked like he might throw up. Who had he provoked?

Shane turned to the commander of the watch and pleaded: “Good sir, obviously my son made a mistake, but surely we can come to an agreement.” In Shane’s mind, enough money could solve many issues.

“Thankfully this is still an internal matter. So, for now, we can keep this to the initial charges and if your son pays the fine, we can move forward and release him tonight. However, do expect a summons for court. Jay will likely still face community service hours.”

Shane Eisen quickly went through the bail process and turned over the $100,000 fine.

"Jay, let's get you out of here. We still have business to do,” said Shane.

Once there were in the car heading back to the office, jay turned to his father to ask: “Dad what the hell? Why did you send me to the site if it had already been sold?”

Shane just shook his head. “I don’t know son; I was not aware it was sold. Such a large-scale sale should have crossed my desk. Your cousin, Emily oversees those things.”

Jay then asked “What about the mad man at the site? He is likely the cause of all this. Surely, he cannot be part of the Dreadnought Investment, can he? I swear he was just a worker.”

“Well, Dreadnought Investment is not one to tolerate abuse on their staff either. And if he is part of Dreadnought Investment, perhaps we can use him before we do anything rash. After all, we are trying to get contracts with the Dreadnought Investment now. While he may not be someone with power, it might make sense that he was a contractor or similar that was out there scouting the property for plans,” said Shane. “You are sure he is not some big shot, but just a laborer?”

“Yes father, he was completely dusty and was scaling the walls. I swear he was talking to himself too. He has to be some mental case. I think he was there just to steal equipment or perhaps metals from the site!” said jay.

“Well, your grandfather has authorized me to help find your cousin Roisin a husband. Perhaps if he does work with Dreadnought Investment, even on a low level, if he is part of our family, we can use that to leverage a better contract if they value their staff so highly. Afterward, Roisin will be married to a madman, so all the more reason to toss them both out. No one would take her seriously,” said Shane as he pulled into the company’s parking lot.

“Perhaps we can call Aunt Cynthia to help set Roisin up on a date… she always wanted her daughter to marry sooner than later. If it comes from her perhaps Roisin will be more willing.” Suggested Jay.

“hmmm, I will discuss with your grandfather. In the meantime, stay around the office for the time, but be serious. One day soon you will need to run this company yourself,” said Shane.

I have a few hours of free time. Is there anything that needs my attention?”“Well sir if you are free, it would be good for you to meet Mr. Liam. Right now, I have him running the Dreadnought Investment group. There is an office prepared for you there on the top floor, that will run the whole Fire Dragon Corp. I have assigned a vice President for you, who will also act as your secretary and liaison for any business needs. She is extremely capable. Just as they were concluding, a knock sounded on the office. Liam jumped up, furious someone would interrupt. But when he answered the door, he froze. Arya Croft, Vice-Chair of the whole Fire Dragon Corp stood at the door. While Liam had met her on previous occasions, it was rare to see her now except in passing, being that her office was on the top floor of the same building. “President Liam, Is this Mr. Andrew I have been told about?” “Yes, Ma’am.’ “When you are done with him, please send him my way.” “Well actually, we are finishing now,” said Andrew as he stood from the desk. “Shall we?” And with that, he left the room to follow Arya upstairs. Liam was ready to melt and felt a huge pressure leave with Andrew. Upstairs was an impressive area. The whole floor had a clearly fung shui focus and Raya instantly could sense that it was well done. Roisin Eisen was one of Durres’s cities great beauties. To her, being told this was next to telling her that a bear craps in the woods. It was a useless bit of information and in no way felt like a compliment these days. Her beauty had never brought her a suitable man nor had it been a huge asset in business. Instead, she was envied by women who felt inferior and thus targeted by all manner of mean schemes. She was practically stalked by men of low IQ and even lower hygiene habits. Her own mother insisted on setting her up on an untold number of blind dates. It was true that she was of a good age to marry, and she would not mind finding someone she could enjoy being with. However, right now, she was successfully climbing the ladders in the family business, and working hard to get her family of two out of the squaller house they lived in. well, perhaps family of three if you considered Emily who practically lived with them now. A coworker at Dreadnought Investment? A girlfriend?“I don’t believe we have met before. But my mother told me to meet you here. Is now still a good time for us to catch a meal together?” this blind date was off to a grand start Roisin thought.Andrew was utterly lost, but here was a beautiful woman who knew his name and wanted to have dinner.‘if you don’t say yes I will do it for you.’ Snarked Raya.“yes, yes of course have a seat,” said Andrew in an instant as Raya snapped his confusion.“I know these blind dates are a bit awkward, so sorry for that. What do you have to offer?” asked Roisin noticing Andrew’s attention had shifted back fully to her from his moment of absence.“I believe the Fire Dragon group would be interested in working with your company. They have resources few can fathom. They even wholly own Dreadnought Investment as you may be aware. I can connect you with Miss Croft, who would be the one to discuss possible future cooperation, but I can give you a taste of what such cooperation might benefit your company. After that, they chatted for a while and Roisin mostly talked about her family and time with her cousin. Andrew only briefly mentioned his time in the military and mostly focused on his medical experiences because that was Roisin’s specialty and she might recognize aspects of his experiences.Suddenly Andrew noticed a chill in the air. This was odd being that it was rather warm outside this time of year. ‘Raya?’‘COLD’ was Raya’s slow reply.‘Cold? What are you sensing Raya?’‘COLD blood physique. This girl is lucky to be alive this long with that. It's super rare. There are some odd treatments but they take time. Like 10 years. Slowly, Roisin began to wake. She quickly realized her dress was torn and she felt cold all over. “Miss Eisen, please drink this. What happened to me?” whispered Roisin, terrified of the possible answers. “not to worry much, my dear, the doctor did have to make some quick actions to save you, but I was present the whole time. Nothing untoward happened. Here, drink, you will feel better,” said Arya. She was stunned at how much better the girl looked after just the needlework Andrew had done. With what she saw and the prescription, she had no qualms about calling him “doctor”. As Roisin drank the tea, she instantly felt the chill flee from her body. She had experienced these chills for years, but never to this extreme but now, this tea, this wonderful tea was removing all trace. Normally she would be sick and suffer for at least two days. A murderous little bitch.” Lord Devos stepped out of the shadows then with a man that Alexa felt bore a striking resemblance to lieutenant Tannis. “Ah, goddess Anika, you saved me a lot of trouble bringing this traitor to me. They exited the car and Anika led the way into the grand hall.“Seems they might have expected us.” Anika said softly as Alexa took in the numerous guards who lines the alcoves of the grand hall. Many were hidden in shadow and if her keen hearing had not detected their breathing, or the subtle expansion of their chests against taught leather and breast plates, she likely would have assumed they were statues. At the far end, a throne sat empty. A steward stood off to the side and raised his voice.“The Red Dragon, Anika Archeron and company.”Nothing happened, and the room fell eerily silent.“Are the devos not in?” Anika asked A

Clearly he had intended on placing the blade flat against his fist and pushing it away from him, across the top of his hand, taking alexa’s head off in the process. He had maneuvered the blade a bit slowly. Perhaps out of caution, knowing its deadly power, or perhaps due to bloodloss. Either way, the blade was now frozen, inches from Alexa’s neck.
