CHAPTER 2. Save his daughter

As Peter's knife trailed Lily's arm to her throat, she sobbed quietly.

"Won't you beg me, little rat?", he yelled angrily!

She had a defiant expression on her small face, and he roared angrily, lifting the knife to plunge it into her body when he felt a dark pressure hitting his back coldly!

Instantly, Peter’s body tensed and his back was drenched with hot sweats as if he was been boiled!

However, he was swift to conceal himself.

General Damien's eyes took in the scene, and he felt the larva of his anger bubbling.

He saw the little girl whose face had an uncanny similar to his, tied to the place she was been tortured.

"Are you my daddy?", her weak voice asked, and he nodded, his heart warming at the thin child.

"Who the hell are you?", the Mr. Peter snapped at Damien, who had a murderous glint in his eyes.

He took predatory steps towards the robust man.

"I should ask you that? Who the hell are you to hurt my daughter? Do you know who I am?"

His red eyes and fierce demeanour caused Mr. Peter to lose his confidence, regardless he put up a bold front.

"I don't care. How dare you storm into my office. I don't care who you are. You have no right whatsoever to-"

He was silenced with a blow to his jaw, and a cracking sound resounded in the room.

Damien pulled him up by his firm grip on the man's neck and slammed his head against the wall while he groaned.

"When I'm done with you, you'd wish you never set your eyes on my daughter!"

He shoved him to the desk, making him fall, unconscious.

"Wake him up and take him away, Carlos. Make sure he is tied up! I will make him feel what’s worse than death!"

He rushed over to his little girl, who was quickly slipping out of consciousness.

"Thank... y-you for coming t-to save Lily, daddy", she slurred, barely able to keep her eyes open. "Please go save mummy too.. so we.. can b-be t-together"

Her eyelids finally dropped, and she fainted.

"Why the hell do you have to be so stubborn, Elena? Aren't you tired of being a shame and dragging your family into shame all the time? I could give you everything you could ever want. You just name it!"

The fat man with a lewd expression and a loosly hanging suit sat across the damsel,  who had her head held high even in her misery.

Gerald knew her story. Angry tears threatened to roll down Elena's cheeks as she listened to the conceited shameless man talk.

"Think how proud your family will finally be of you if you just accept to marry me. Your family and I were in the same class before you know. Unlike the poor bastard you were so unfortunate to have a wonderful nightstand with.”

Humiliation gawned at Elena’s heart and her throat tightened due to a complex sadness, sniveling.

Her family despised her because of that one night stand with a cleaner in her family company. She had gotten pregnant afterwards.

Her family couldn't stand the humiliation, being among the second tier of wealthy family in the city.

She blinked away tears as she recalled how her parents had decided to eliminate the cleaner to avoid any dirty story.

* flashback *

"Mum, dad, you can't do this!", she had cried when she overheard their conspiracy.

"Isn't it enough that you plan to bring shame to our family and our honourable legacy?! Stay out of this, Elena", her father had snapped, and her mother nodded in utter agreement.

"Please don't do this to him. He does not deserve this", she pleaded to no avail. "I'm sorry for my carelessness,"

"Go to your room and get some rest, Elena. You can't change our minds".

She refused to let the cleaner be hurt. She had gone to her room with the intention of sneaking out to inform the cleaner when she realised that she had been locked in her room by her family, and she overeard them talking about her getting an abortion.

Elena could never see her parents the same way again after she saw the satisfaction on their faces, when the assasin informed them that their plan had been successful, and he had thrown the body of cleaner into the river after he was injured severely.

* end of flashback *

She had sobbed her eyes out that day, and she still felt the tugbin her heart as Gerald mentioned it like he was reciting a proposal.

Although, she had managed to escape and never returned to her family to save her child. She struggled and raised her child on her own, with the little money she made from working menial jobs.

She couldn't get a proper job, and no one was willing to help her, since her family had gone bankrupt suddenly.

Perhaps karma had paid them a visit!

As Elena sat opposite the vain and arrogant Gerald, she could not help but think about her life.

If her baby, Lily, did not have acute leukaemia, she would not have had any reason to be here, pleading for his assistance.

That's why she came to this man, begging him, but she only got an offer to marry him.

"Can you please sign the contract now?", she said as calmly as she could muster with her lips pressed into a thin line.

"Oh, Elena", he slurred, his hands landing carelessly on her laps. "I have nothing to gain from you, especially not now your parent, who I once wished to be affiliated with have gone bankrupt. Just agree to get married to me.”

He brushed strands of her hair away from her face.

"I'll give you more things than you would ever imagine."

Elena bit her lips, cringing at his touch. She was slightly tempted to accept the offer.

It could do her a lot of good.

Presently, she was swimming in debts.

She had taken loans for the place she stayed and for her daughter's upkeep and tuition fees when she had not gotten any menial jobs in months.

She could use the money Gerald had to offer at the moment, but she was not sure she would want to be stuck with him in a commitment against her desires.

Her mind buzzed in frustration as many thoughts hivered in her mind at once.

What could she do?!
