chapter 4

Yuda came down from the roof of the school, trembling. His eyes shone with deep fear, his fingers fidgeted restlessly.

All the students left the classroom, saw the tragedy in the schoolyard, Yuda joined the crowd of students down the stairs to hide from the eyes of his friends. His face was hidden by the cap of the jacket he was wearing.

The sound of sirens from police patrol cars and ambulances echoed across the field of Bina Bhakti High School. Several students and faculty members were screaming hysterically at the sight of a bloodied body lying in front of them.

Arriving at the first floor of the school, Yuda ran out of the crowd into the school's courtyard. His mind was in chaos and he could only run to get rid of it. He climbed a 3 meter high wall to get out of the school and into the garden behind the school.

Running and running was all he could do, his eyes still overshadowed by Mario's bloodied body. His breathing was heavy and his legs began to go limp. Yuda was lying in behind of a deserted schoolyard, looking up at the white and blue sky, which then turned deep red and then black.

Yuda wanted to scream, but he was overcome by bronchitis. Blood spurted from his mouth, only tears could come from his eyes as a symbol of his willingness.

The raised diaphragm inflates with pain and is difficult to deflate. Yuda still stared at the sky, his ears listening to the sound of the ambulance siren slowly fading away.

The heavy rain closed all the fear in Yuda's heart. Yuda staggered out of the garden behind his school. Then he sat down at the bus stop and waited for the bus to stop. But seeing him soaking wet, some bus conductors didn't want to stop, afraid that the benches on the bus would get wet and disturb other passengers. Yuda just sat silently on the bus stop chair, waiting for someone to call him.

"Hurry up!" his mother said. Yuda got into the car and sat on the back seat.

"You are crazy! I called mom just to pick you up. Don't you know Mom is sick? Stupid bastard!" His mother snapped and turned around for a moment.

"Mom, I accidentally pushed my friend," Yuda said quietly, his mother looked at her for a moment, then continued driving.

"Teenagers always have problems. Is he all right?" his mother said.

"He died, he died mother," Yuda said quietly, wiping tears from his cheeks.

His mother was shocked and immediately stepped on the brake, luckily there were no other cars behind them.

"Don't joke! Mother already has so many problems, you want to add to them!" his mother shouted, scratching her head until her hair was disheveled.

"I didn't do it, Mom!" Yuda said loudly, hitting his head with his hand.

His mother became restless and her breathing was heavy. Yuda looked at his mother, who looked at him, too, as if looking for a way out. Then his mother stepped on the accelerator again and drove the car back home at high speed.

Arriving at the front gate of the house, Yuda got out and entered the house in a panic. His mind was afraid that the police would come to the house and put Yuda in jail. The scariest place for a teenager who always tries to look good with his grades in school and his attitude grades.

"Does anyone know you were with your dead friend?" his mother asked, pulling on Yuda's uniform collar from behind.

"I don't know, Mario and I met early this morning and the other students haven't come yet," Yuda said, turning to his mother.

"Come in! And explain it to mom in as much detail as possible, don't lie!" Mother snapped softly, then pulled Yuda's hand into the room.

After Yuda changed his wet clothes, he met his mother in the living room. With deep fear, Yuda sat next to his mother.

"I met him because Mario wanted to talk to me about something," Yuda said.

"Why did you two meet so early at school? There must be some serious problem, right?" his mother said, looking into Yuda's piercing eyes.

"About a student, Mario and I like the same girl." Yuda replied quietly.

"Just because of a girl!" his mother snapped loudly. His mother's hand was ready to slap Yuda's cheek, which made Yuda even more scared. But his mother lowered her hands again and tried to breathe calmly.

Yuda and his mother were silent, just looking at each other, Yuda continued to suck on the inhaler, looking for peace.

"Go into the room! And don't come out!" his mother said, leaving Yuda in the living room. Yuda obeyed his mother's orders and went to his room.

In the room, Yuda felt restless. He closed the curtains tightly and huddled under the covers. The sirens of the police car sounded clearly, and Yuda became frightened. His mother came into his room and was straight.

"Don't say anything! Say it when the lawyer talks. Just be quiet and look miserable because you lost a friend. You understand!" his mother snapped.

The doorbell on the first floor rang, and his mother wiped the sweat from her brow and left Yuda's room. Yuda followed his mother's footsteps from behind and tried to calm down.

Two policemen came and immediately questioned Yuda. And explained the problems that occurred, Yuda was seen on CCTV in front of his class when he met Mario. And the last person Mario met was Yuda, some evidence of messages on the cell phone is evidence for the police to be able to take Yuda to the police station for interrogation. Yuda's mother smiled and pulled Yuda's hand from behind her body to get out. His mother showed an expression of surprise at what Yuda had experienced. Yuda just bowed his head, then walked with heavy steps into the police car. Then his mother followed him from behind in a car to the police station.

When he arrived at the police station, his mother sat next to Yuda. Yuda did not answer several questions from the police according to his mother's ultimatum. A lawyer came and sat next to Yuda to talk about the problem at hand.

His mother told the lawyer that if Yuda met with Mario, as Mario wanted, they would to discuss the family problems that Mario was currently experiencing. Then, because Yuda gave advice that the victim did not accept, Mario started a fight and fell off the roof of his own accord. This explanation was given by Yuda's mother in a straightforward manner, so that the lawyers were able to accept that this case was not the murder charge that the police initially charged.

Lawyers from Yuda's side also entered the interrogation room with Yuda. His mother was outside while she continued to call Yuda's father, who works as a 3-star police general. Yuda's mother hopes that her husband can help Yuda get out of the law's clutches. Yuda is too young to feel the cold of sleeping in a jail cell.

After waiting outside for 3 hours, his lawyer and his son Yuda came out of the interrogation room. Yuda is being held temporarily for the investigation because Yuda was the only person who was with Mario before he died. The mother bowed her head when she heard this. But the lawyer said he would release Yuda as soon as possible, and besides, there is no strong evidence that Yuda pushed Mario because there is no CCTV on the 3rd floor of the school.

Yuda was taken to the cell by a policeman, Yuda shouted loudly in front of his mother and asked to be let out. But the mother couldn't do anything until her husband came and solved Yuda's problem. His mother only asked the police to allow Yuda to bring an inhaler because of Yuda's asthma.

His mother finally came home and left Yuda at the police station. Hearing Yuda's cry, his mother no longer had the strength to be at the police station.

The heavy rain was still audible, only on the cardboard Yuda was sitting on, waiting for this day to pass.

The next day, the cell door opened. Yuda came out and was relieved to see his mother coming to meet him. Finally, with insufficient evidence, Yuda was released. Yuda ran and immediately hugged his mother. However, his father, who was standing behind him, immediately grabbed Yuda by the collar and angrily dragged him out of the police station.

Yuda got into the car, and his father looked at him from time to time, sitting in the back seat with an annoyed face.

When they arrived home, his father immediately dragged Yuda's body out of the car.

"Meet Daddy in the living room!" His father snapped with a cruel look. His mother, feeling sorry for him, grabbed Yuda's hand and together they entered the house.

Once in the living room, his father prepared to hurt Yuda's body with his belt. Yuda felt the whip several times and did not dare to resist. He finally stopped when his mother knelt at his father's feet and asked for forgiveness. Yuda hates his father for blaming him without wanting to know the true story of what happened.

Yuda entered the room with a limp body covered in wounds and blood. A father too cruel to abuse his innocent son.

When the bedroom door opened, Yuda was already lying on the floor, still sucking hard on the inhaler. Between sad and happy from the police station. His mind was restless and still filled with fear.

With his remaining strength, he crawled onto his bed. Reaching for the cell phone next to him, he saw several messages that made him even more anxious. Some messages from the group at school, talking about himself and thinking that Yuda killed Mario. Several insults for Yuda were written in the message, saying that Yuda was actually jealous of Mario because he was better at everything. Even though all the students knew that Yuda had left the police station, they still blame Yuda and think that it was his father's position that saved his life so that he could be free.

Yuda slammed his cell phone against the wall in annoyance, then got out of bed, took a small knife from his study table, and slit his wrist until the blood slowly dripped onto the floor.
